Love Windows XP Home
I have been running Windows XP SP2 and would "never" want to go back to Windows ME or Windows 98. With the XP, I rarely need to re-boot my system, and my PC no longer freezes up. There is a built-in Windows Firewall plus a pop-up blocker which are both awesome. The system is much safer, and I have NEVER had a virus, worm, or trojan horse while running the Windows XP Home with a good internet security/virus program.
Upgrade to XP Home w/SP2
Absolutely the easiest upgrade of a Microsoft OS that I've ever done, & as a retired hardware engineer, I've done a lot in the past. It's one sweet OS!

Good, cheap, and easy
If you don't mind spending $7 a month for very simple solution to certain problems, .Mac is the way to go. Yes there are free options that do the same, there are cheaper options that do the same, but you know what, if you are like me and don't have the time to search and decide and weigh features to save yourself a crummy $2-$7 an month, many easy to use (and therefore quick to use and learn) features are there. I can post pictures on the internet in 3 clicks from attaching the camera! This service simplifies several areas of my life, keeps me from having to carry a PDA, learning how to make websites, and lets me make good enough ones in a minute or two for various functions. I would complain that if you need to store and move large files back and forth from .Mac that it's not very fast, but it works just fine. I have never had a problem with my mail going down or other service interuptions.
WARNING!
I am a die-hard Apple fan - I love their products but I have to say that .Mac is about as bad as it gets. For 79 dollars a year you get 512mb which is nothing. I've had the service for about 6 months and only backing up my personal settings the thing is full. And as others have said this is SOOOOOO SLOOOOOOOOOOOW it's pathetic. I have cable internet and it is slow - I can't even imagine how bad it is for people with DSL or Dialup. I am cleaning out my iDisk as I write this review in order to make room for more- it has been at least 10 minutes trying to delete older backups to make room for newer ones.
The Ability to be Global & Untethered
I have been on a 3-week road trip and able to take care of all my business thanks to the idisk feature of .mac which allows me to store all my document templates on an interent hard-drive site.This has made it possible for me to NOT lug around a laptop all over the world, but rather to create invoices and work orders by accessing my pre-prepared documents from any internet cafe or business center I stumbled across.FREEDOM!!!!! ... It just keeps getting better with each release!
I have been using QuickBooks since Version 5.0 for my business and started beta testing the product in 2002.It has come a long way over the last 12 years and this latest product is the best one yet.Being able to point the software to be specific to your industry takes a lot of the guess work out for a new user in setting up your accounts.It is very user friendly and adaptable to any business.If you are considering a financial software for your business, look no further.This is the one!

Intuit does it again
I have been using and beta testing Intuit products for years. Recently I was given an opportunity to test Intuit's latest version of Quickbooks, the2007 edition. I believe the product offers a very comprehensive financial software package that will cover the needs for what I believe to be most small businesses (with their Premier and Eclipse products handing the rest). I like the (customizable) invoices I can make with this program and the close integration with the financial data...a change is carried over to the other.The optional Payroll service allows you to manage payroll in-house (with various levels of services). When a company I consult for wanted to upgrade their payroll software and their over-priced payroll service company wanted $250 for a minor version upgrade I recommdend Intuit's solution and have not regretted it (neither did my client company; they save hundreds of dollars a month). I was also able to recover corrupted data stored in much older version of Quickbooks by using this software (this is not a feature it was meant to do, the upgrade procedure just did it for me). From time to time, I do find features I want in every program and that includes Intuits, but I do appreciate the fact that they listen... I was pleased to see improvements and feature enhancements this year as well.

Still the best software for regular folks
I've been using QuickBooks since it was first published and have even helped Intuit with the software beta testing process to help provide suggestions and find bugs before the software is released to the general public. I am most definitely NOT an accountant and QuickBooks is the best software I have ever used to handle the books. It has saved me so much time over the years I can't even begin to estimate how much. Everything is organized like a business owner would, not by accouting terms that can be very confusing to those of us outside of that world. It can also handle just about any type of business. The integration with TurboTax is nice as well, I can do my business taxes (federal and state) in less than an hour total.

UPgrade to Quick Books 2007PRO from 2004
As a member of the BETA testing group for this new product, I found all the features that I was used to in the 2004 version PLUS new improvements in layout and easy of moving around the accounting world.Internet automatic features truely make this product a must for busy professionals.I am able to easily work within two companies, at three different locations and be assured that the files are up to date by using the back up system within the program.

Great app getting even better

A delight--but...
I had little trouble installing this game, even though I had to use the patch. It's a hoot, a delight to play. Yes, you'll need to change the default controls. My gripe? The "Save" feature is dreadful, you can only save in highly specific situations, usually at the beginning and end of a level (unless I'm doing something wrong, always possible). But it's fairly easy to figure out and just a lot of fun to play.

Just A Great Game.
I can't describe Lego Star Wars II in any other way but awesome.It is the perfect recipe of fun for everyone.
Pain to install but worth it...
I have to agree with some of the other reviewers, this game was a pain in the a** to install, however once you do get it going it is more than worth it.The anti-piracy software (Securom) makes it a pain to install and in fact it will not install as is out of the box.You need to go to the web site and download an update patch to get it going.

Bring on the patches
This product does not work with internet applications as advertised.There are multiple inconsistencies in the way it handles commands, or in its ability to carry out the commands at all.My computer exceeds the minimum requirements of this program.Additionally, I am unable to check for updates to the program as I get 'error 13003: not registered' even though I have registered twice now.I'm actually typing this review with the keyboard because of problems in IE and Firefox.They also charge money for support.Dictation for other purposes works very well, I just wish it did everything it was advertised to do.

Awesome
I'm dictating my review right now.I just started using the program today, yet I'm already comfortable with dictation.I'm surprised at how readily the program recognizes even obscure words.My only advice is to check your system requirements and make sure you have adequate RAM prior to purchasing(I had to purchase more for my computer).I'm sure once I'm accustomed to using the program, I will love it even more.

Has turned out to be a time-saver
Years ago, I had version 4 of this program and faithfully did all the training exercises---however, I discovered they were mostly exercises in frustration and eventually gave up.I too had heard that advancements in speech recognition had been made for this version, and warily bought it from Amazon.With just a little training, it was up to about 75% accuracy---much better than the 30% of version 4, but still room for improvement.The microphone that comes with the program produces a horrible clamping sensation on the side of your head, so I bought the Plantronics DSP 400 recommended in the hardward compatibility listings on Nuance's website.After using this new (much more comfortable) headset, the accuracy increased to about 90% by my estimation.I am in the process of dictating a novel from a longhand manuscript, and the time saved by using this program is well worth it. ... Definitely worth letting it consume your life
Iv'e been playing Warcraft games for 5 years now i started off with Warcraft 3 and its HELLA fun online DotA was definitely a great idea, then i started playing WoW (World of Warcraft) DO NOT GET IT!!!!!! dont get it if your in school, dont get it if you have a job, if you have a social life DONT GET WOW!!!!!! it will ruin your life and eat every second of your time its the most addictive thing EVER!. Bought the chest to play Dota.

Reviews (59) Random Freezes = Crashware Same random "freezes" are happening on my machine while using Firefox. Horrible product... more like a virus than a "virus checker". Another fun annoyance is with Onecare backups. Try deleting the file from your external hard drive... can't do it... not even after applying "Sharing" attributes as suggested by MS. This is more like a "freeware" app than a major software product produced by MS. OneCare or CareLess? I installed OneCare on a new up-to-date computer. Do not buy this software!!! I had the Norton 2005 antivirus on my computer, so 2006 should be no problem, right?Wrong!!!! After >10 hours of on-line "chats" with tech support I finally was able to load this program and eliminate all the "conflicts".. then I tried to send an e-mail...It would not go.... 3 more hours on line chats (one disconnect after about 1 hour...)... still not working!!! Save yourself the agony!Do not buy this product!!!! It is most definately NOT worth the aggrivation!!! Good service...when it works. I've been using Symantec's product since right about 1998-2000. I usually bought a new version every 3 years, and just extending the subscription between the time. I've never had any problem with any Norton Anti Virus...so in 2003 I bought the Internet Security suite. I LOVED that program. Like many reviewers in the past, I have to agree there are no significant features to warrant upgrading.If there's a new feature (not many for most users) that you're dieing for, certainly upgrade.I upgraded (regrettably) since there was a new feature to delete all Bills area out.I had two phantom bills which kept showing up and every month an additional set would show up as past due.The number of past dues would have kept increasing every month. The short version is this feature (delete all Bills area) did not work for me.After discussing the issue with MS, the solution was to export every account (investments have two accounts) to a QIF file and the one at a time re-import each QIF file in.This was an absolute brutal recovery and I've spent well over 35 - 40 hours getting it cleaned up.After each import you have to delete the duplicate/double posts in both accounts.As one web site once noted, this is not for the faint-of-heart.One of the features toted in this version is the budget improvement.So in fairness, I decided to test this out.I really didn't see any improvements during the interview portion, but afterwards the budget screen just shows a tan box where the cash flow used to be.Basically, it didn't work (keep in mind I basically started from scratch with the imports).I'm not impressed.The bottom line:Don't upgrade just because there is a new version.If there's something you have to have, then sure upgrade if people say it (the to-die-for feature) works.I rate this a 2 for current MS Money Users and a 3 for users who have no Personal Finance Management (PFM) software.If you are torn between Quicken and MS Money as a new user, go with Quicken because most professional/reviewers like Q the best. I have been using Microsoft Money 2003 for years and recently upgraded to Microsoft Money 2007 Deluxe.I initially tried the 90-day free trial from the Microsoft website.The download and installation only took a few minutes and the data transfer only took seconds. Big dissapointment I bought and installed Microsoft Money 2007 Deluxe.It installed fine with no errors.When I launch the program, it launches fine but when I go to run the reports, they don't work.I tried uninstaling and re-installing several times and no luck.
