Trying the full demo; don't think would buy if had another option
I downloaded the full demo from the company website. It is a VERY basic finance tracking software; I don't think that its worth the $80 to buy, but then again, its only competitor, Quicken, has had such bad reviews that I doubt there are any reliable options for personal finance software for the Mac system.

QuickBooks User..
I have used QuickBooks since 1995 and find that people who are writing negative comments aren't really talking about the product BUT rather how phenomenally cheap they are.

I don't have a problem with the way Quickbooks works, but paying [$$] a year for the tax tables is pure (...). When I was forced to upgrade to QB Pro 2003 it at least came with the payroll tax tables for the year. This year if I wanted to upgrade to QB 2005 they wanted [$$] for the upgrade and [$$] additional for the tax tables. Every year they come up with a clever new way to cheat their customers out of their money.

What a complete package!
I have sold at least three different software packages in my previous business as a consultant and am truly amazed at the capabilities being offered by Simply Accounting Pro at such affordable pricing. I am starting a ditribution business and looked extensively at Quick Books Premier but then decided on Simply Accounting because of its completeness, ease of use and of course the cost. I highly recommend it and to those who don't care about accounting and want a simple way to track their transactions, like our friend who has given a poor rating to this package, I recommend using a spreadsheet. It is like wanting to drive and not wanting to learn the code!

Don't bother.
Who are they trying to kid. If you don't care to know much about accounting, then don't bother trying this product. They tout the ease of use of this product because it "uses wizards." However, given that I'm a leading usability specialist, I can tell you that just because they use wizards doesn't mean that it's easy to use. As a matter of fact, it's laborious. Granted, my only experience is with the free trial period, but I went through the trouble of importing my QuickBooks file only to find out that Simply Accounting didn't import any of my accounts. So I had to try to set up my accounts from scratch. Great software!

Waste of Time and Effort
All of the negative reviews are true.Every last one.
Limited but has some use.
This is not a sophisticated program. However it's cheap. I use it and like it because it is an improvement over QuickBooks customer management functionality. If you are aware of its limitations you won't be disappointed.

Works for us.
I run a multi million dollar home building business and Quickbooks Customer Manager works great for us.We are able keep all our customers' info in one place.We also use it for our service operations and scheduling appointments.It keeps a great history of what we have done at each customers home.This is a relatively new program and I think it will get better with time as they provide new versions.It is a little simplistic and could use some fine tuning, but all in all we use it with success. ... YOU PAY WHAT YOU GET FOR.......
This software is not friendly user. I call the support tech and they got back to me a week later,and they stated they will charge me $25.00 an hour if they had to answer any other questions.Even my brother who is a accounting major couldn't figure it out.Stck to quality programs.

Not so simple to use....
First off, I know nothing about accounting and this software was not so simple to use.I purchased it because I thought it could help me manage my sales through ebay.Horrible program.The moment I loaded up the program I was totally lost.I didn't know which feature controlled which function.I read the book and that's totally worthless.I tried calling customer support and it seems they were not so knowledgeable about the product either.Way too overwhelming if you are not an experienced accounting guru.I found this product very disappointing.The only thing I liked about the product was the guaranteed refund that the company provided on the box.I returned my item with receipt to the company and got my money back.

I currently use Ver. 2004 and have not upgraded to v. 2005 but I can say that I love this software.It is inexpensive and does everything you need it to do.

It takes time to learn this software!
If you dont' know anything about accouting, this is not the software for you.There are tutorials available with the software, but you must know the terminology first for it to make sense.There is a free trial of the full PeachTree Accounting available from Best Software, but be aware that if you try it out, you cannot transfer anything from the free trial to First Accounting, since they are different versions.You could spend a lot of time working with the trial and then have to do it all again if you buy First Accounting. [$$]? Not if your doing payroll!
This product is very misleading, in order to do payroll you have to subscribe to the 'payroll tax service' from Peachtree, which costs [$$], twice the original product price.Sure, they say you can 'edit the tax tables' yourself, but this is actually entering an equation where you must know all the variable names the program uses. ... A GREAT software for small businesses
I have worked with over a dozen accounting packages over the last 15 years, including beta testing such products as Open Systems, Great Plains, and Profit. I have used Peachtree versions 2 - 2002 for my own company and I have set up the program for innumerable clients over the years.Peachtree is the BEST program for smaller businesses - bar none. It has a terrific payroll module, good a/p and a/r, and the ability to evaluate your business standing right now, not next month when your CPA finishes the books. Longtime User
I've been using computerized small business accounting systems since the early 1970's...After going into business for myself (in a field unrelated to computers) I was reduced to a manual system until I found an excellent DOS system for the PC - a system that went through several owners, eventually winding up as the ACCPAC system from Computer Associates.ACCPAC,was slow to move to Windows and so when I began to look for a Windows accounting system I had to look elsewhere.... After using Peachtree 7.0 for a year now in my manufacturing business, I still can't get the checking account to show an accurate balance!We stillhave to manage some features by creating spreadsheets in Excel that we usein parallel to Peachtree.Also a drag to have to purchase modules, forms,tax tables, and additional use licenses separately (and repeatedly) at sucha high price...I resent feeling like I'm being bled by the manufacturer nowthat I'm 'locked in' to using the software.I REALLY wish the initialpurchase had included two use licenses, since I have to buy an additionalone JUST to write occasional quotes from home on my laptop.Read more

dont waste your money
Do not get taken with this lousy product. the payroll portion of this is made by a different company and will cost you 19.99 a month after the 3 month trial period is up. but then it will not open unless you have file-vault turned off! I would own a PC instead of a Mac if I wanted to operate without file-vault!! the devil is in the details...it would be nice if all the advertising that they do to sell this, that they would be honest and upfront about it not working on MAC.

QuickBooks Pro 2005 minimizes chaos
Qbks really made my bookkeeping easy. The step-by-step set up is easy to follow. After setting things up I found it really easy to stay on top of my bookkeeping.

Doesn't completely suck
I started a new business and bought Quickbooks, like I was told too. While it isn't extremely intuitive and lacks some functionality, it doesn't completely bite either. Note, I don't use payroll and have a simple business.

Hard to use and operate.Be aware!
This software and some others in the line are like the cars from the 80's, use old technologies. The design is old and look and feel is old as well! I would think as if I was driving an 80's car when I used a newer technology software. Now is a time to use software that use .Net technology.

Switch and Bait
I don't know who wrote the reviews which rated this product above 1 star but they must work for Peachtree. An accounting system that does not even let you change the due date on a customer invoice after it is entered is no accounting system. Peachtree's answer to this and other short comings is, "You should buy our top of the line system." Superior value, superior integrity
This is a simple, yet impressive product.We switched to Peachtree from MAS90 when we downsized.It costs only a 10th of what MAS90 cost, but compares very well.In some ways better, like Payroll.Anyone that can't balance their accounts with this product has a poor understanding of running a business, and using accounting software.It certainly does not have the features that larger companies need, but if you do less than $5,000,000 per year in sales, and won't grow past 6 or 7 users, then this is a good buy for many types of businesses.Especially because it has a great import/export wizard, to help you get it going, and then later to migrate out of it if you grow! ...
