Super Deal with a couple caveats!
The criticisms first. As I've been using several iterations of many Office products, I found Office 2000 Pro to be the best of them all.I've found the Office 2003 suite a bit bloated and having all the apps wanting to "help" me too much.I guess seasoned users of Office may find this a bit irritating. When I went from '97' to '2K', the transition was flawless. For some reason when transitioning from '2K' to '03', I lost my entire address book in Outlook 2003.It took 4 install/uninstalls for me to finally get Outlook to work.I'm sure it was something I did wrong, but it should have been a seemless process.
Great product
MS Office Student & Teacher Edition is great. No issues with it at all.Very afforable for the programs I actually need instead of buying the professional edition.
Great deal
Microsoft office is expensive, but with this you get 3 liscenses making it a little easier to buy. If you want to do things the legal way this is a good deal and from a trusted site, not some place you've never heard of before selling it for $5 cheaper.

What can you compare it to
Microsoft Office for Mac is a great product and it's actually needed. I think it should be pre-installed on the computers instead of appleworks or pages. If your'e a student or you conduct business on your macintosh you're gonna need office for mac to communicate efficiently with the majority of computer users who use the windows operating systems simple as that. I purchased it mainly for word and if you've used the windows version of word you should have no problems using it for mac. I also used Powerpoint to create a presentation for my job, superb.
Some advances, some regressions
No doubt about the increased speed of Excel & Word compared to Office X for Mac. Many nice features, including a preview in the print window.
Office for Mac
The office for Mac 2004 software is a much needed improvement over 2001. The additional templates in Word are long over due. I know it won't happen, but I would like to see Publisher for Mac.

Not the utilitarian option
Microsoft Office can be handy to have. The files you can open, edit and create with it (most notably .doc, .xls, and .ppt) are probably the closest to universal compatibility among all your high quality options. It's (relatively) intuitive. It has a pretty broad array of useful functions.
It's been some time since '97...
Office 97 was a pretty good product. The programs were powerful, had a decent interface (maybe not as good as the Claris products of the early 1990s, but not bad), and came with a ton of features all on one disc. The Office 98 release for Mac was pretty much the same thing. The only thing that really got annoying for me was the office assistant (paperclip) but it is easy enough to turn off.

Microsoft Office Review
I recently purchased Microsoft office, and so far, I have had the chance to use Microsoft word.I am familiar with the product as I have had the older version before, with my old computer.
Microsoft Office 2004 Standard (MAC)
It's just packed with all kinds of goodies. I highly reccomend it.
Crash. Crash. Crash. Crash. Crash. Crash.
Microsoft Office for (or more importantly, Microsoft Word) for Mac (any Mac) crashes relentlessly and without mercy. I tried sending it back (on the day of purchase, get the picture?) but I was turned away, having already opened the boxes and the inside sleeves.

Excellent Information Managment Tool
Although many users may be a bit intimidated at the look of Access, it is worth the many hours learning how to use this software.
Access is a decent engine
MS Access...well, I have been using Access since 2.0, so I know a LOT of the ins and outs.
Review from an Office developer
I've had the pleasure of developing and maintaining a new database in Access 2003 over the past 6 months. The previous 3 years before that I had developed in Access 97 and migrated to Access XP. So, what are my impressions of 2003?

Don't do it! (unless you have to, of course)
This upgrade is a disaster. First of all, in Word, the view markups function is the default now, so you have to go through and change all the settings to hide markups (most people in my department do not want to see those distracting colors and balloons and do not need to edit the doc in any way). However, if you want to send a document that does not have the tracked changes embedded -- because you don't know which version of Word the recipient has, and you can't take the chance of them seeing all those comments -- you have to go through the document again, view markups, reject the comments, Accept Changes, and resave. It's kind of difficult to explain, and frustrating too. People think that if they can't see it, then the recipient won't be able to see it either.
MS Office Pro Upgrade - upgrade from what?!
The major flaw with this product is that it's not clear which version of Office you can upgrade FROM.
Microsoft Office Pro 2003
Microsoft Office Pro 2003 edition is a good product. It installed easily over Office Pro 1997. I haven't had any problems with it (yet). It relies heavily on online links, you probably should have a fast DSL connection or broadband if you are going to use the online links.
