Not what you are lead to believe.
If you are planning to use this for mass marketing, be aware that you are limited in the number of contacts that you can export.After that, you must pay the company again. Not what you are lead to believe.
This company borders on deceptive practices when describing their software products.If you are wanting to use this product for mailing lists, be aware that you are limited in the number of listings you can export, then you must purchase more. Product can't be used to create databases
I bought this product with the intent of analyzing certain industry sectors.Unfortunately, information from the CD cannot be downloaded into a database for cross-referencing.The first response to my call to the manufacturer was "Where did you get this number?" Good Points and Bad.You decide.
I use this software to locate individuals or businesses, rather than for mass mailings.The program offers a wide variety of ways to search, either by name, phone number, address or business type.These capabilities are not available with searchable online directories like Switchboard.com, so the program has been a valuable tool.The downside is that even after purchasing the software, users must call the company to get an unlock code within a limited number of days or the program ceases to be functional.Also, every time you close the program, you have to close a series of "promotional" screens advertising the company's other products.For people interested in mass mailings, there is a limit to the number of mailing labels that can be printed directly from the software.After the limit is reached, users must pay additional money to increase the number of labels they can print. Finally, the program constantly starts up a browser window which goes to the InfoUSA website where users are assaulted with more advertising. It's disruptive and annoying, and only by calling technical support can a user stop the browser window from opening. Overall, I like the product, but not the constant self-promotion by the company.If a similar product were produced by someone else, I would try that instead, but haven't found one yet. ... Read more

Not for phone number searches!
I purchased this product based on Amazon.com's description that this product's capibilities included searches by phone number. The product box does not indicate such a search is possible and my multiple tries atcommunication with the CDUSA have gone unanswered. I'm now searching forother product to fill my needs. Good Telephone Tool
The purpose of purchasing Select Phone was to have a source for multiple listings in specific regions. Select Phone delivered. It is easy to use and the geographic target and neighbor search features made it a bargain. Theonly draw back is the limit of 2500 records for the software whenexporting. Additional records must be purchased thru customer service atInfoUSA at 8� each.

The older version had more features, unlimited access
I purchased this program first in 1998. It was outstanding as a sales lead tool. You could input the SIC (Standard Industrial Code)and retrieve listings of business leads. You could then import them into Streets Plusseamlessly, and it would generate a map with how ever many businesses yousaved in your worksheet. This produced a "connect the dots"travel route on one page, and made it unbelievably easy to plan a sales dayfilled with 10 - 12 calls, with the most efficient route. "Windsheildtime" was cut down by about 70%. Unfortunately, they dropped themapping feature on this latest version, and they also now limit the amountof leads you can actually access to about 3,000 which is a hummingbird eggcompared to the old ostrich egg. The remaining names have to be purchasedthrough a download at an unreasonable price in my opinion. What a shame. Iam now in search of another program.

Telephone catalogs
I think the product is excellent for the price I originally paid. I found a couple of outdated numbers, normally that's not a bad average but I only look up a few numbers a month.You can't export enough numbers either but then of course I'm not using it for mailing lists. It outdates itself in a year, but at that price that's not so bad, you can afford to renew. But at the price they try to sell it for directly is not very reasonable, unless you are using it to extract high volume mailing lists. All in all it's a nice product.

A Great product if used properly for the price.
This product is a Great product when it is used properly.Users who expect to do mass mailings with an under $99 product are not being realistic about the product. I use this product EXTENSIVELY for findingdetailed information about potential target clients, as a Super effectivereverse directory and when you begin to understand the SIC coding it isespecially effective.You MUST do specific refined seraches.It will nothelp you do MASS mailings and attempting to use it for this purpose isfrustrating, since the product was not intended for that.Also it ispurposefully impared from operating on a network, since the company offersa network enabled version for a more realistic price.I feel they are veryreasonable in this regard. Tech support and attempting to get informationfrom InfoUSA is a different story.Complete chaos and inconsistancy intheir support people would be giving them a kind rating.They DO NOT evenadmit this product exists in most cases, since they want you to buy themuch more expensive commercial version.This is what your other reviewersreally require, not this product.I have used this product for 3 years anddon't know how my business could function without it.I leave the CD in mydrive because I use it EVERYDAY !
