Works well for me - but not really supported anymore
I have used this product for 3 years now. It worked well on Win NT and on Win 98SE. I upgraded to Win XP and it still works fine. It is functionally rich and I couldn't live without the form filling component. Don't expect much support from ScanSoft. They appear to have dropped this product from their roadmap and are now concentrating on others.

Doesn't work well with XP
Initially it works well with XP until about the 3rd consecutive scan.After that is jams the scan cue and eventually will hang. Don't Upgrade your OS to XP!
I have had Pagis and its upgrades for a number of years.After many problems such as described in the other negative reviews, I was reduced to mostly using it to scan text to file or as a copying function.I do prefer its copying function to that which comes with my scanner.I upgraded to XP and Pagis text scanning and copy function continued to work well until I bought a new scanner.When I experienced problems with my new scanner, I paid 9.75 to Scan Soft for email technical support and apparnetly I paid that to be told that Pagis is not compatible with XP.Evidently they have no intention of upgradng or solving this problem.I'm through with Scan Soft products! ... If you think the software works well....
You should try using it with the CardScan 600C scanner.I used to own the 500 model scanner, but when they created this color scanning device-I had to have it.Not only did the OCR improve from the previous version, it is now a USB only scanner, that's much sleaker and smaller than it's predecessor.I scan, and with the click of a button (after the setup of course) I can send all the information into my Outlook Contacts folder, or my Palm Pilot address book.This thing is great, where has it been all my life, now to attack the huge pile of business cards that I have sitting around my desk!

Program shut-down and other frustrations
I used the Omnipro 10 and found it often shut-down in the middle of performing OCR and wouldn't keep the zones in a templet I had saved to read the same documents and capture specific bits of data.Otherwise the toolbars are well thought-out and the windows easy to move around. The help could be a little more extensive most times I found I had to go to the website for any help beyond the obvious, "Is your scanner turned on?". For document and data capture I recommend looking around first.

Omnipage Pro is Great, Pagekeeper Pro a bust
Out of the box, the OCR software works great with my HP 4C Scanner. Even fax pages are done very well. Nice facility for changing the words that the OCR software does not recognize. Also nice feature to "train" the OCR to recognize more. Pretty fast too, although this would depend on your scanner and PC. I am getting about 15 seconds a page with a Pentium II 550, 128MB memory with Windows NT 4.0. Pagekeeper Pro to manage the scanned paper images does not work correctly and the caere.com support web site is apparently dead now so I could not see if I was doing something wrong, an install error or if there was a fix for the problem. So some of the nice features you see in the sales literature do not work. A bust for me there.

I have used both 9 and 10 (downloaded 30 day free trials via web site)andthought both were great!I do not think the "suite" offers greatextras (I'm looking for a forms scanning software that is decent for under$100, thiers is $150).I think the OCR program alone is a great value forunder $100. ...
