PROBLEM
AFTER YOU BUY THIS SOFTWARE YOU ARE THEN REQUIRED TO PAY EXTRA TO USE IT.THE OTHER SIMILAR SOFTWARE HAS THE SAME PROBLEM.

Good Points and Bad.You decide.
I use this software to locate individuals or businesses, rather than for mass mailings.The program offers a wide variety of ways to search, either by name, phone number, address or business type.These capabilities are not available with searchable online directories like Switchboard.com, so the program has been a valuable tool.The downside is that even after purchasing the software, users must call the company to get an unlock code within a limited number of days or the program ceases to be functional.Also, every time you close the program, you have to close a series of "promotional" screens advertising the company's other products.For people interested in mass mailings, there is a limit to the number of mailing labels that can be printed directly from the software.After the limit is reached, users must pay additional money to increase the number of labels they can print. Finally, the program constantly starts up a browser window which goes to the InfoUSA website where users are assaulted with more advertising. It's disruptive and annoying, and only by calling technical support can a user stop the browser window from opening. Overall, I like the product, but not the constant self-promotion by the company.If a similar product were produced by someone else, I would try that instead, but haven't found one yet. ... Read more

Have suffered with this program for two years. Much too complicated.Frustration is off the scale. Too many shortcomings

Cost vs benefit?
When the cost of a technical support phone call costs more than the program, it should tell you something. Lockups, error messages - what is your time worth?Spend a little more for something that works.

Just What I Looking For
This software isn't perfect but it certainly served my purposes for getting holiday cards out this year. The database was easy to use. The help menus were good but sometimes did not match what was contained in the pulldown menus. I loved the label and envelope templates but they all omittedthe salutation field (Mr. Ms. etc.) and I had to make my own which tooksome practice and know how. Not what you are lead to believe.
If you are planning to use this for mass marketing, be aware that you are limited in the number of contacts that you can export.After that, you must pay the company again. Not what you are lead to believe.
This company borders on deceptive practices when describing their software products.If you are wanting to use this product for mailing lists, be aware that you are limited in the number of listings you can export, then you must purchase more. Product can't be used to create databases
I bought this product with the intent of analyzing certain industry sectors.Unfortunately, information from the CD cannot be downloaded into a database for cross-referencing.The first response to my call to the manufacturer was "Where did you get this number?" How can a reputable company.....
screw up a perfectly simple program? Ask Broderbund, as they went out of their way to make this product nearly 100% unusable. Further, one can not access their support/help or even "contact us" links. Suggestion--pull the product from your offerings. BTW, the website does offer the following advice; "If you are having problems you should first become a better (more knowledgeable ) user, as most problems can be corrected if you do so."

Imagine Outlook on steroids and you're halfway to understanding what you can do with ACT! 6.0. Installation can take a little planning, as you can't start using ACT! until you have registered it via the Internet or by printing out your registration details. If your PC has neither a printer nor an Internet connection, beware. It is also essential to look through the Readme file before you start using ACT! to ensure you understand how it integrates with other applications. On the plus side, it does include a printed manual so you can find out what it does without having to wade through the online help.Read more

Been and ACT user for 8 years, but this is the pits
I've been a faithful user of ACT since 1998. I've always found it intutive and an absolute must for my sales activities. I've been such a big proponent of ACT that I often recommend it during my company's sales consulting practice. I've attended several one day training courses from ACT approved training centers to improve my operating of the software.
Please run as far away as you can if you see ACT! software!
I am a long time user of ACT! software from the time it was a DOS program. It has become progressively worse. One of their key elements is the email programm which allows the user to send out emails to their contacts which automatically drops the email into their history file. This feature often either does not work or it crashes the program. There are many other detailed features of the email portion that do not work. The latest release of 7.0 is so filled with bugs as to almost render it unusable not only in the email area but also the contact database section. I am continuing with it only because I have so much time invested. I would not recommend this software to anyone under any circunstances. Their tech support is non-existent, you have to buy their yearly support plan just to get anyone on the phone and then when you cone to the end of a long session and discover that the problem is not solvable, their answer is that "they're working on a solution, we don't know when it will be addressed". This is about $300. It appears that BEST Software allows ACT! to be released without proper testing and with known bugs. It is interesting to note that ACT! 7.0 is not offered on Amazon. In closing, ACT! is a complete and utter time waste.

My Experience with ACT
I'v been using ACT for 2 years. No considerable complaints with ACT6 but when I upgraded to ACT 2005. It's too slow. Time-is-money and waisting time with it I wasting too much money. I'm out now. I'll better go to Terrasoft CRM or wait for Goldmine7.

Sales Leads USA Business Edition DVD
Unfortunately, there are many releases of this product, and these listings dont say what year they were released, nor provide any way to contact the seller before the sale to find out. I'll buy elsewhere
