$35 support from day one
Purchasers of Word X for Mac should be aware that Micrososft does not warranty their product.I purchased Word X software from Amazon about a month ago and had problems with printing out a document. On seeking help from Microsoft I was told that Microsoft does not warranty Word for Mac and that a minimum thirty-five dollar fee would be required for their help.

The first blockbuster application for OS X version 10.1!
I'm basing this review on the word X test Driver version, available on the Microsoft matopia site. From what I've seen so far, this is one very good app--everything has been made to work with the Aqua interface, the layout is quite easy to learn and use quickly, and I find myself using it more and more everyday. Of course, in the Test Drive doesn't have all of the features included--you can use the project gallery for the basics, but you'll have to wait for printing to be enabled, for example. The best part--when I redid my resume and send it as an attachment, I don't hear the old "resend it as a Word doc!" complaint anymore. I'll upgrade to Word X for sure! ... Read more

Basically the Same, with a New Surprise
What sold me on this upgrade was the other reviewers' testimonies about the complaints they would receive from PC owners about not being able to open Word documents created on a Mac. I began experiencing that problem, thinking it was a system issue rather than a bug in the 2001 software. The best of the best.
I am teaching in college since 25 years. We always used Macintosh. what can I use to upgrade...???
I have office 4.2.1 will this count as an upgrade???? I don't want to buy this and find out that it won't! I hate office, but love entourage and if I qualify for the upgrade, it's actually cheaper than buying entourage on its own! ... Read more

Nice Program!
The handwriting recognition software isn't that great, though it adds other features such as a dictionary and word complete.All in all, a good program, even if you do not use the handwriting recognition software.

Excellent to save time writing in your palm
This is a really useful program. I have been using it in my work in the hospital to write patients progress notes and it has been great. I can customize its list of word so I could add the name of medications and even whole phrases like "Patient seen, chart reviewed" so when I write pa.. the whole phrase pop out and I just tap on it so I do save a lot of time typing. You can make the program scan text for new words, so to customize its list of words it is a snap.Read more

First, you should know I am a card carrying Luddite, if not the Great Ned's reincarnated self. But this program is easy to install and use, even for me. Next, this has turned my PDA into the single greatest invention since the sanitar---err, sliced bread! I carry Excel spreadsheets that I routinely update on both my desktop, and my PDA (Palm500.) They automatically update their alter whenever I hotsink. I carry books I've downloaded in Word or PDF format, and I have used it to download photos onto my PDA. And all without one glitch in 1 year! Pretty good but could be better I work with spreadsheets all the time so immediately after I got my Palm I started looking for some sort of spreadsheet program. This program works pretty good you can see Excel spreadsheets on your hand held and Word documents and edit them and copy them to your PC and vice versa. Some annoying problems, though. The program doesn't synchronize with files on the computer it mearly copies one over the other. If it detects that the file on the computer and the file on the hand held have both been modified it gives an error. Also, there are too few formulas provided. I have a spreadsheet to calculate subnet masks that will not work with this. Only the most basic formulas are provided. I called Dataviz tech support and there are no formula upgrade packs either. Lastly, the price of this is pretty spendy. I keep kicking myself when I found I could have just bought a new handheld with this software included for what I spent on this software alone! It's so easy!! Most of the documents I receive via email are in Microsoft Word or Excel format.I work out of my car and having these documents available on my Palm has turned my car into a paperless office.It's so easy and convenient. ...
