1-0 out of 5 stars never delivered!!
I would like to review this game but i havent recieved it!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Loved it...when i could play it
I used to play this all the time when i was young and it was honestly one of my absolute favorite games.I was able to play it on my XP OS in 2003 (changed the color settings and it was fine) but uninstalled the program.I tried to install it again fairly recently and now it won't work. It's a shame really.I wish they'd make an updated version that works with XP as this is a great learning tool for kids.I was barely finishing grade school when I got this game and it really strengthened my knowledge of Geography.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great Game For All Ages!
I played this game for hours as a kid and I am super excited to see that it's still around.I can't wait to relive my childhood again! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great preschool games
My 3 year old loves this game. He watches Dora on television, and I thought he might enjoy this. I was right about that. He can play the games on his own, and they are entertaining for him. I think some 3 year olds would have problems with some parts of the games while others would be able to play them all. I recommend this for kids from 3-6 years old. Great game!

4-0 out of 5 stars My 2 1/2 year old loves it!
If you are looking for games for a younger child then this one is for you.I bought this 3 pack for my son for his second birthday and it has introduced him to computer operation, taught him pre-preschooler skills, and kept him busy (while I exercise, cook, clean, or take care of my 3 month old he has his computer time). He has been learning matching, number recognition, counting, colors, and even some spanish!I love it!He also loves to create 'drawings' and print them out to hang on his art wall (where we post all of his creations :) or send to his granparents. From this set, I have ventured on to buy more challenging games for him (however, he still enjoys regularly playing the three games), but as a starter set this one is great, especially if your child is as into Dora, Boots, and Diego as my son is.

4-0 out of 5 stars We like it!
My daughter, 3, really loves these games and can now play them by herself from start to finish. It's all very intuitive, so she can easily move from activity to activity.I DON'T like the "adventure" portions of these games -- as someone else wrote, they're WAAAAY too much "video" and not enough interaction. But the "map" portions, where you can click on each activity individually, are great. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Get Chessmaster Instead
I gave my Chessmaster 9000 to a friend and bought Fritz 9 as a replacement. Big mistake. Fritz may have a slightly more powerful engine but there are only a few Grand Masters who would even test the limits of any chess program. For 99% of the people, Chessmaster would crush them.
5-0 out of 5 stars Chess review
This game is highly interactive and has the ability to personalize in many ways.I have enjoyed many hours of playing.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fritz 9 has the software, but not the engine
You want a simple chess program? Go search for WinBoard. If you want to play 3D Chess just for the look, then I am sure you can find all sorts of swanky looking 3D chess boards out there. If I want to play on-line I can go on yahoo games and play any one of the thousands of chess games for free for as long as I want. If however you are interested in chess engines (the AI behind the chess software) then obviously you are considering getting a decent piece of chess software with some brains rather than just a ritzy looking chess board (why not actually spend on a ritzy look chess board instead!). The Fritz 9 package is basically offering the latest Chessbase software and the Fritz 9 engine. There are many engine players out there who like to play with the best engines such as Rybka, Hiarcs, Shredder, TOGA II, Deep Fritz or Fruit. Fritz from Chessbase currently offers the best chess analysis software. Most people who want to play chess complain that it is too complex for their needs. Chess players, who play computer chess, play it with Chessbase. Even the GMs (grandmasters) are known to use it. So for people who just want to play chess, then Fritz is probably not for them, especially at the price tag, which is near a whopping $40 for chess and can be upgraded to a $100 worth of chess software if you go with the latest engines. Let us just state for the record right now that there is a very cheap and excellent Chessbase product called "Deep Fritz: Grand Master Deluxe" for $20. It comes with the Deep Fritz 8 engine and the Fritz 8 Chessbase software. That is a very powerful engine and a very nice piece of Chessbase software, which has all the same analysis tools as the latest Fritz 9 Chessbase software update. For $20 that kind of chess power is an absolute steal. The problem is that it is just not the latest Chessbase software. Before we talk about engines we should talk about the Fritz 9 Chessbase software which is at its cheapest in the Fritz 9 chess package. The Fritz 9 manual is a bit better than any previous offering. It is in full color. There is also an entirely separate manual for the on-line Playchess feature. Fritz 9 loads quicker and runs quicker. It defaults to a blue and white board that is not so harsh on the eyes. The icons are nicer. The arrows indicating movement are transparent and do not look as stark. There are some new game types. The 3D board is greatly enhanced with a new 3D control panel for moving the board and camera. There are expanded 3D settings with new character animations, such as the Turk, Mia and the Fritz room with enhanced visual effects with fully rendered backdrops. The manual however is probably what sets Fritz 9 apart from it predecessors as the tutorial is much easier to follow and if you spend a bit of time you can learn all there is to learn about Chessbase just by reading the manual, something that was not really possible with earlier versions without asking someone who knew what they where doing. Is it worth the extra $20 to go from "Deep Fritz: Grand Master Deluxe" to Fritz 9? The answer to that depends on what you want. If you find that Deep Fritz 8 does not offer much of a challenge anymore then you will probably want to improve your engine. The problem is that Fritz 9 might not be the best improvement available to you. The "CSS - Rating List" is a good chess engine rating list. The "bff-liste" is also good and so is the "SSDF Ratings list". Although Rybka leads them all there is some discrepancies between Hiarcs 10, Shredder 10 and Fritz 9. TOGA II is free from UCI and Chessbase can import UCI engines. That is a phenomenal free upgrade. If you want to pay for the best then Rybka is where it is at, but that costs a whopping $70 without Chessbase software. Hiarcs 10 and Shredder 10, come with the new Chessbase software but at a price of $50. Fritz 9 is $10 cheaper with an engine that can compete (note compete, not always beat, but compete and even loose) with Hiarcs 10 and Shredder 10. Fritz 9 is currently the standard Chessbase offering. It is available almost everywhere. Hiarcs 10 and Shredder 10 are a bit harder to get because they are professional chess engines and not mainstream like the Fritz and Deep Fritz offerings. The truth is that your best deal is "Deep Fritz: Grand Master Deluxe" for $20 which gives you Deep Fritz 8, the last Chessbase software without a great manual but with full analysis and an import function for the UCI Toga II engine. That is a very powerful piece of chess software for $20. If you really want the latest Chessbase software then Fritz 9 gives you just that for $40 plus the Fritz 9 engine. Fans of Hiarcs or Shredder would probably feel better shelling out the extra $10 for their favourite engine that comes with the Fritz 9 software package. The top professional players will probably get Fritz 9 for $40 just for the Chessbase software update and buy the Rybka engine for $70 for a whopping $110 chess software package. Right now it is all relative to how much you want to spend and if you have a preference for Hiarcs or Shredder. Also Chessbase software is not the most stable software in the world. Fritz 9 chessbase software does solve some its old crashing problems and analysis bugs. A lot of the mystery lockups and functions that cease to work in previous editions are working now. The bottom line however is that there is nothing like Chessbase software out there, but there are optional versions of this software. Since nothing can compete with it we should be lucky to get a Chessbase upgrade at all, even if it is a poor one, it at least tries to correct a few things... but it could correct a whole lot more. If you own a previous Chessbase I don't think you should be worrying too much. If you have bought Hiarcs 10 or Shredder 10, then you have the latest Chessbase and some of the nicest engines out there. What you really need to know is that you can work out a better engine configuration than Fritz 9 with "Deep Fritz: Grand Master Deluxe" plus TOGA II, for half the costs ($20). For $40 you spend an extra $20 on the latest Chessbase software, but the TOGA II engine can beat the Fritz 9 engine. The very existence of TOGA II for free with Chessbase's ability to import that engine is why I would say doing a bit more research is important. However you can easily slap down $40, get Fritz 9 with the latest Chessbase software, and TOGA II for free also. You can pay an extra $10 and have the same configuration with Hiarcs 10 and Shredder 10 with a free TOGA II. "Deep Fritz: Grand Master Deluxe" offers the best value overall. Fritz 9 is nice to have but absolutely not necessary, but it is still a great engine, and not as bad as many would like to make it out to be. I am sure many software users are waiting until Deep Fritz 9 comes out... and probably rightly so. Maybe then we would have a new Fritz engine worth talking about.

5-0 out of 5 stars Trick your kids into learning
This game was purchased for a young girl aged 4 years 8 mo.She had very little computer experience, and a little phonic work in Pre-K.This game was right up her alley. Some of the tasks were easy, giving her a sense of mastery, but the difficulty level increases nice and slow and she didn't even realize. They mix in fun non-learning activities as a reward (decorating the float). As a result, her reading skills have significantly improved in the past month and so have her computer mousing skills.Haven't found a good typing game for a 4 year old yet, that's next.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Learning Game
This game is awesome and teaches kids phonics, letter recognition, matching, numbers, and they don't even know they are learning becuase they are having fun. They complete tasks and get fun prizes that boost self confidence. It helps kids navigate on the computer and gets them comfortable with a mouse.

5-0 out of 5 stars My daughter loves this software game!
My daughter just turned 3 years old in October and she loves this game. It's very educational and fun at the same time. She was able to navigate through the carnival games right from the start so it's very user friendly. While she's known all her capital letters and the sounds each letter makes for some time now, she's learning to recognize the lower case letters and to spell 3 and 4 letter words from using this game. She's only had it for a few days but I can already see she's learning a lot from playing with it.I highly recommend this one for it's educational value. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Very simple!
This is simple and mindless.Luckily, I only paid $6.99 because it's not worth more than $5.I got it at a regular store, and it was the regular price. It wasn't on sale.$6.99 is their regular price.I only bought this because my kids like Dora.

5-0 out of 5 stars Collect the stars
My almost five year old loves this game. She needed help in the beginning figuring out the controls, but as time goes along she's learning more and more about the computer.I worried that the gaming aspect would be over her head, but it isn't.She follows the story quite well and there are plenty of other activities on this disk to keep a child going for a while.
5-0 out of 5 stars Keeps child's attention!
We got this for our 4 1/2 year old daughter for Christmas. She was able to figure out how to play all of the games without any help.I recommend this game to any parent with a child who loves Dora and loves to play games on the computer. It's more than just a "game", as it's educational, too.It keeps my daughter's attention and she hasn't gotten bored with it yet! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous! Stupendous! Awesome!
OMG! This game is like, the best! The graphics were great, and the personalities of the people were great too! Almost everyone seemed like a suspect, and more than one person was the culprit. Being herinteractive's second game, this is great!
5-0 out of 5 stars Nancy Drew and the Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake
I thought that this game was totally awesome! I really enjoyed it! I played it in 4 days, and it usually takes me much longer! It wasn't too hard, but hard enough. It's not as scary as some of the Nancy Drew games. There are four charactors: Sally McDonald (the lady who asked you to come there), Red Knott (a birdwatcher), Emily Griffen (a lady who owns a store), and Jeff Akers (the closest thing to a police officer that the town has). You never meet Sally, but you meet the other three. Oh, yes. I forgot you meet the ghost dogs...

2-0 out of 5 stars BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I really didn't like this game at ALL! The mystery about somone dead was good and all, and I know it's Herinteractive's first game, but come on! Cartoon characters?! Plus, it was easy and short, and not hard at all. If I were you, I would NOT buy this at all, NAH-AH! I hope this review helped! =) ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good beginner game
My son has been playing this since 2 1/2 year old.He can play it by himself, although he does use some trial and error, especially the pattern game and the what's missing game.My 5 year old daughter who loves Dragontales shows, is not interested in this game, which suggests that the game is too easy for her.I like that the program automatically advances levels, unlike many of the other software we have.

2-0 out of 5 stars Better for the younger set
This game markets itself as appropriate for 4-6 year olds.I bought this for my 5 year old and she beat it in less than 30 minutes. The game itself is extremely short - only 6 activities. This may be better for 3 and 4 year olds just learning to count and learn shapes. But for those already competent or even familiar with them, its a waste of money.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun and Educational
My four year old enjoys this. The look and sound of the software is the same as the PBS show. Some of the activities my four year old can do by himself while others require some help from mom or dad.The software gives directions for your child to follow. There are activites such as counting and shape sorting and other activities that require an understanding of bigger/smaller, up/down, etc.We have about four computer games. In order of preference our son likes Dragon Tales followed by Little People Farm/Airport, then Clifford Thinking Adventure and then Finding Nemo.Overall, Dragon Tales Learn to Fly is a good value that runs well on my older Windows 98 system.

1-0 out of 5 stars hated it
I own other versions which were far more entertaining. The changes were for realism, I guess, but frankly it made the game irritating.Buy an older version.

4-0 out of 5 stars GREAT GAME!....controls are a bit tricky though
I am the same kid who wrote on 12/5 and I came back with a review. First, the guy who had trouble kicking, you might need a new video card(get the right one!) That's the same answer if you having other problems. Anyways the game great! It was everything like I told you. You can get new fields, plays, and pros! You can also play by clock or points! AND have the choice to play with helmets or without! The problem is the controls are a bit hard. You have to use mouse and keyboard! That's why I gave it a 4. But good game get it!!!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Why to buy
Okay, this isn't a review either but I am giving you reasons why to buy this game.

1-0 out of 5 stars Avoid at all costs
I agree with the reviewer who urges you to stay away from this and other Scholastic products if you run Windows XP.I received School Days and Spooky Mansion today but can't get either to run on XP, even though I am generally quite adept at working with computers.I will never buy another product from this company, even if it works well on XP.These products say they work with "Windows 95, 98, 2000 or later."Don't believe it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not Windows XP Compatible
I just tossed this one in the trash. It looked like a good game for my girls but unfortunately Scholastic doesn't believe in updating or supporting their products. I'd be very leary of buying any software from this company since software returns are difficult to negotiate. I would appreciate a list of truly Windows XP compatible children's software titles. Windows XP has been around for at least a couple of years now. I don't understand why compatibility is such a problem. Their support site cites that the problem is "you have too much installed RAM." Well, for most software, that is not a "bad" thing.

5-0 out of 5 stars I spy school days! FUN!!!
Just a great fun game with so many rooms and levels. My 7 year old loves it and it helps in learning to concentrate! I like watching her play. There is a room where she can make her own clues for an I spy game. How fun is that and gives a child the room to invent and create!! Buy!! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Needs update to work for Mac OSX users
The product seems nice, but runs in a clunky and confusing Mac OS9 window.i wouldn't recommend this for Mac users until it is updated.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best software for Preschoolers
My son loves all the Putt-Putt and Freddi Fish and I'm not ashamed to say I kinda like 'em too! I am amazed at how well he learned to navigate and remember where items were. My mom is a retired elementary-school teacher and she is amazed at all the skills that this reinforces - math, reading, language, manners, problem-solving, listening, map reading, memory, music, etc.

5-0 out of 5 stars Even fun for a toddler
My son is only 29 months and too young to really understand the game, but he still loves it.There's enough stuff to just click on and look at. He loves driving around, picking up milk-shakes and soda bottles. He loves the library with the book of rare animals and loves putting different numbers on the flag.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Will not run on new Mac's
the manufacturer needs to state upfront that the game will not run on the new intel based macs. I too called Aspyr and they said they are trying to come up with a patch, but don't know when that will happen. As of now it is not high on their priority list. We would not have purchased had we known.
4-0 out of 5 stars DOES NOT OPERATE ON MAC MINI!
Just be aware it does NOT work on the MAC Mini with the dual core chip.Only "OLD" MAC products.I've called the manufacturer of the game to verify this."Maybe" in the future, but obviously not now.A shame as that's what a lot of kids are getting these days as an inexpensive but quality computer.
1-0 out of 5 stars Too loud, too violent
This game, which comes with warnings that it may cause seizures, is too loud, with bright flashing lights. My son tried it out once, and his sisters immediately started complaining that it was loud and violent, a definite waste of time.I found it did not work so well on our MAC - though it said to click on the exit button to end a game, there was no exit button. We returned this game and bought the backyard baseball game for MACS, a game with more educational value and no loud, flashing lights. My son let me return the Star Wars game with no resistance. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Good games, difficult installation
When I first got the five pack, only two games would show an installation page. It was frustrating until I found out that the problem was because of DirectX. Now all of the games work, and there are fun. It is a tremendous value too.

3-0 out of 5 stars installation.
I love the nancy drew computer games, so I was overjoyed when one of my best friends got me the 75th Anniversery pack for my birthday. When I got homefrom my party2 days later, I tried all of them. I was very dissappointed to see that only 2 out of the 5 worked on my computer. Secrets can Kill, Message in the Haunted Mansion, and Stay Tuned for Danger all did not show an installation page on my computer screen. I also find this supriseing because my friend that gave me this game set also has it and enjoyed it very much. In fact I have played the games on her computer, all of them. I find it disturbing and strange that 3 of my games do not work and all of hers do work. In the next years I hope that Her Interactive will concentrate on making all of the games install properly on all computers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Not Just for Girls--Great Games, Great Value
In the course of my research for a book on graphical adventure games, I stumbled across a Nancy Drew title at my local discount store and brought it home. At first I was a bit skeptical about games based on a popular book franchise for adolescent girls would translate well into an adventure game. At least, I didn't think it would keep me, a 29-year old college professor, interested for very long. However, I was wrong. The Nancy Drew series by Her Interactive is a solid line of graphical adventure games. The production values are high, but, more importantly, these games are great fun for anyone. There are also at least two levels of difficulty in each game, with the "Senior Detective" level being the best for adults. Indeed, I found plenty here to challenge me!

1-0 out of 5 stars Mac OSX in Classic mode only
If you want to run on a mac, this product requires OS9 or "Classic" mode under OSX.As a result it will NOT run on a new intel mac.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good
Although my 6 year old son does not have the focus to put his fingers in the correct places he likes to play the games and is learning where the letters are just by searching for them

1-0 out of 5 stars OS X
I bought this product in July and can't get it to work with OS X. The computer wants to launch OS9 every time. A big disappointment and a waste of money.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow.... A real award winner!
This is by far one of the most suprising games I have ever played. The graphics aren't spectacular, but they're pretty good. No, the aspect of the game that amazed me was the gameplay, and the puzzles. I came across this game a year ago, and having played many tycoon games decided to buy it, expecting the typical mudane tycoon game that has some crippling bugs (game that come to mind include cruise ship tycoon, mall tycoon, airport tycoon, etc.)
5-0 out of 5 stars Intelligent fun if you like physics and science
Make sure you get the cheats to keep a lot of cash in the bank. This game is totally addictive.

1-0 out of 5 stars NO tech support
Game sounded good but have not been able to play it.Bought it for my kids for Christmas and installed on two computers.I'm having serious video problems on both machines that render the game unplayable.Called Viva Media and got a message telling me the best way to get support was by email.I have emailed their tech support 3 times since December 29th (today is Feb 5) and have received only automated responses that tell me to be patient. Well, we are working on week six...

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Game
Pajama Sam is an excellent game to teaches kids about problem solving, in a fun and entertaining way.I read some of the other reviews about the game being slow. The graphics are very good in Pajama Sam, so you need a decent computer with a decent graphics card for this game to run smoothly.Using an AMD 950mghz, with a GeForce2 graphics card, and a full install to the hard drive this game will run fine. This game is also made to challenge kids with their thinking skills. If you need help to complete this game the Atari web site under support has a Hints, Tips, and Cheats section that is a free to access.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pajama Sam: Life is Rough When you Lose Your Stuff
Pajama Sam: Life is Rough When you Lose Your Stuff. This game, like many have said, will run "rough" You will lose your "stuff" (money and time) to buy this game. However many people have been as the Rappers say "Hatin' on Dis." For those who dont like the new age hip hop and rap, Being Inconsiderate Rude, and not Giving this Game a shot. While it does run slowly, his voice is different, and the lip sync is off, this game has a great premise. This game had great preceders. However, the company who made and produced this game Humongous, sold to Atari. Many of the workers at Humongous left before they sold to Atari. Atari had very little, if any, guidance, supervision, or overall any help. They played the old ones through, maybe once or twice. They probably wanted to get this out in time for Christmas. I have loved Pajama Sam, ever since I was young, I still did enjoy this game. The puzzles are incredibly hard though, and if your stuck, there is no helpfull hints like the previous games had. If you are a fan of Pajama Sam, and have loved him since There's No Need to Hide When it's Dark Outside, then you may want to leave this game alone if you don't want dissapointment. However if you give it a shot, and ignore the many little errors in this game, you may enjoy it. Atari may leave Pajama Sam alone after this, they may make a Patch for this game, which is a CD that you install to work out the bugs in your game, and they may make more Pajama Sam games that will improve, and be the Pajama Sam games we know and love. All we can do for now, is wait and see what Pajama Sam has in store for us next...

3-0 out of 5 stars What was Atari THINKING!?!
I loved the other Pajama Sam games, so when I purchased this one, I was disappointed.

4-0 out of 5 stars Wizards' 3-on-3
The game play on GOBLET matches the earier games, as does the graphics.
4-0 out of 5 stars It's not THAT bad, guys.
Being a avid player of the past three harry potter games, i was so excited when this one came out. At first, like most of the reviewers on here, i was disappointed, but later after mastering the controls and getting a little into the game i really began to enjoy it.

5-0 out of 5 stars My son loves this game!!
A must have for children 3-4 years old. When my son turns on the computer, Trouble on the Tracks is the first game he reaches for.

1-0 out of 5 stars Ask what platform you need before you purchase
This must be a very old release and I suppose, although I haven't looked, that somewhere on the initial annoucement it mentioned that it could only run on WIN97 but what I did see was that it was MS WINDOWS compatable and so I didn't investigate further.Too bad, because it wasn't until I opened the packaging and read the manual that this was found out (it was NOT on the outside of the package).Big disappointment.I don't know who is running WIN97 anymore.Perhaps a bit more information and notice would be helpful when advertising this product?

5-0 out of 5 stars Super fun for Thomas's Fans
My 3 year old grandson enjoyed this game and was able to do all the activities. The only thing missing was being able to drive Thomas on the railroad with him as the engineer. At the end of the game, it would have been wonderful for the designers of the game to let Thomas ride around railways with the child being able to make stops and choices where to drive the train on the island of Sodor. It is a game he comes back to play with many times. ... Read more
