3-0 out of 5 stars Thomas Saves the Day ~ You Decide...
When in Story Mode the game is seriously lacking directions, and prompts. For instance, after watching the video describe the big storm in the introduction, the screen jumps to Gordon's Hill. There's a sign that says Knapford, and another sign with a picture of a shed. There's no verbal prompts, or instruction, only a butterfly flitting in the air. After a minute, the narrator says, "Let's check Wellsworth Station for something to heat up my steam."There's no sign for Wellsworth Station, so you click on the sign that says Knapford.Thomas says, "I'm still feeling a bit cold," but the train doesn't move. Then, you click on the other sign.It says, Jeb Coal's Workshed, and when you get to the Workshed, Thomas indicates that it's empty, and that perhaps we should come back later. Then, you notice a sign that says Wellsworth. You can either go back to Gordon's Hill and watch the butterfly, or click on the sign that says Wellsworth.Obviously, you click on the sign, and once you arrive at the station, there's a bucket of coal waiting.Click on the coal, and Thomas thanks you. Then, you're transferred back to the contents page.Sir Topham Hatt offers an "attaboy," and instructs you to click on the next chapter to continue the adventure.
1-0 out of 5 stars Don't use this if you have a Windows 98 computer!
This software crashes upon startup on my Windows 98 computer.Though not a computer expert, I think it has something to do with requiring video drivers that aren't compatible with Windows 98; that is, drivers only available for newer versions of Windows.1-0 out of 5 stars Saves the Day? Save your money, instead
As a recent release from Atari/Infogrammes, it seems like this series is steaming towards a the scrapheap.Other releases -- The Great Festival Adventure, Building the New Line, or the keyboard add-on Railway Adventures are all better than this, and progressively have gotten worse. While some attempt at making this series more "educational" is somewhat laudable, the actual options for game play and interactivity have gotten simpler and less interesting for my 3.5 year old son. ... SpongeBob was just awarded Krusty Krab's distinguished Employee of the Year award. He received the honor after being awarded Employee of the Month for the past 12 months. What a guy! Or, should we say, sponge? SpongeBob gets a great prize for all that good work--a free pass for him and a friend to Neptune's Paradise, an amusement park right by Bikini Bottom. There's just one little problem... our Employee of the Year can't find his way.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Kind Of EASYYYYYYY Part 1
This game is pretty easy when you get to know it. There are 4 chapters in the game...
2-0 out of 5 stars a short and boring game!!!!
this is a very short game. its also very confusing. example: you get something from larry but you have to do something to get it than you give it to squidward who gives you something to give to someone else who needs you to do something for him to give it or get it. dosnt make sense its too boring and typical. trough the whole game you just try to get one thing but you do a million things to get it than you go to chapter 2 and that is it. i finished it in 1:30 minutes or less its easy boring short and confusing and dosnt have a main point. dont buy it!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars a great game!!
i love employee of the month i played it a couple of times when my neice bought it it's really cool except the people were RUDE! you ask them for something then they say no in a sarcastic way.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous! Stupendous! Awesome!
OMG! This game is like, the best! The graphics were great, and the personalities of the people were great too! Almost everyone seemed like a suspect, and more than one person was the culprit. Being herinteractive's second game, this is great!
5-0 out of 5 stars Nancy Drew and the Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake
I thought that this game was totally awesome! I really enjoyed it! I played it in 4 days, and it usually takes me much longer! It wasn't too hard, but hard enough. It's not as scary as some of the Nancy Drew games. There are four charactors: Sally McDonald (the lady who asked you to come there), Red Knott (a birdwatcher), Emily Griffen (a lady who owns a store), and Jeff Akers (the closest thing to a police officer that the town has). You never meet Sally, but you meet the other three. Oh, yes. I forgot you meet the ghost dogs...

2-0 out of 5 stars BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I really didn't like this game at ALL! The mystery about somone dead was good and all, and I know it's Herinteractive's first game, but come on! Cartoon characters?! Plus, it was easy and short, and not hard at all. If I were you, I would NOT buy this at all, NAH-AH! I hope this review helped! =) ... Read more

Editorial Review

Nearly any fan of Dora the Explorer's TV show will enjoy this structured "adventure" in which players help the program's intrepid heroine achieve the noble goal of returning her library books on time. While not exactly suspenseful, the program is ideal for children ages 3 to 5 who are just learning how to use a computer. Over a soundtrack of catchy Latin music, the player helps Dora and her perky friends overcome a series of seven obstacles, and collects sticker prizes along the way. The program is unlikely to hold the attention of more computer-savvy kids as it is very predictable, structured, and slow paced. But its emphasis on teamwork, and opportunities to practice color, shape, and number recognition--not to mention learn a little Spanish--make it worthwhile.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for little starters!
My daughter began with Freddi Fish at the age of 3 years. She would play on the computer for hours, and she was learning while having fun. This is a great program for little starters, to begin learning how to use the mouse and how to use basic computer skills. It would make an excellent gift!

5-0 out of 5 stars Freddi 3: Conch Shell
My parents bought this game for my daughter.Being somewhat of a "game snob," I was somewhat skeptical of its merit. This game turned out to be quite a pleasant surprise! It was quite enjoyable, reminiscent of those old Infocom games I played as a child. My three-and-a-half-year-old daughter absolutely loved it.She was glued to the computer for a month, and would probably have remained there longer if Christmas hadn't come.As it is, she still revisits this game occassionally.5-0 out of 5 stars Wish it had lasted forever
My sisters and I loved this game, right up until they discontinued the server that passed our games back and forth. Now we can't play anymore and we sure do miss it.We are in four different states and we used to be able to keep in touch daily. After you take your turn you can add a message and it feels like you aren't very far away at all!It used to be so much fun to check my email and see how many Scrabble turns I had waiting. One sister and I always had several games going at once! ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Who Wants to See it in 3D? I do.
This is a realy good game.It was impressive how the 3D Granny engine did it.They didn't do it fully in 3D!!If you'd like to see the pineapple andBikini Bottom in 3D, this game isn't for you.Plus, you can't move with the controller or keyboard!!You have to click the stupid mouse to move him.The conversation is much like the TV show by Viacom. The game is much like the movie, at 95%.Here are my Ratings:
1-0 out of 5 stars Not the same as the console verisons
Hello I am 11 years old. I bought this game last christmas eve becasue I saw commercials of the video game and decided to get the PC verison. I thought the game would be the same as console versions and the movie. When I played it on Christmas morning, I was dead wrong. There is no battle and driving levels in the game. Spongebob does not act heroic in the game. He just acts like a little baby. Don't buy this pile of sh**. Buy the Gamecube,PS2, and Xbox versions. This game sucks badly.
5-0 out of 5 stars how can it be bad?????
i will tell you 5 reasons why you should get this game and five reason why people say its bad. (my 2 brothers agree with me)

1-0 out of 5 stars There are better games available than this one
Like other reviewers here, I also have two Dora fans, ages 4 and 2. Our house is stocked with various Dora merchandise. This game was the most recent addition to our supply of kids computer games. Unfortunately, this game has proven to be the least creative and least educational -- rather boring for my 4 year old. She played the game one time only. The game involves making Dora learn new "dances" by moving the mouse up and down, side to side, or clicking. There are no real games or puzzles to solve, finding hidden objects, nor coloring like the other Dora games. My just turned 2 year old likes to watch the game (like watching a video), but does not quite have the coordination to make Dora dance using the mouse. She ends up getting frustrated because although she can "watch" the game while Mom clicks, she wants to do it by herself and can not.
1-0 out of 5 stars Don't Buy It!
I should have read the reviews before I purchased this item. There's a lot of talking and very little for the kids to do but listen. Not Worth One Star, I'd give it a minus 10!

1-0 out of 5 stars Big Disappointment
Having an almost 3 year old and a just 5 year old girls in the house we are huge Dora fans (and Diego now). We own each and every of the Dora PC games... and most all other Dora merchandise. This new computer game is a huge disappointment. There is no education in this edu-tainment game. If I was using this on a $30 game boy advanced that would be one thing...... the only thing the kids have to do is move the mouse one way or the other...... no letters, colors, shapes (well just a couple), numbers, categorizing, problem solving...... nothing. We use a touch screen interface so it is a real waste for us. Even the last scene when you are supposed to help Dora do the same dance as the king to win the contest......... the selection box to get the right body part is almost impossible..... you try to press Dora's hips, you get her arms....... we are using this on a 19" screen and It was driving me (a very computer literate, mouse able adult)nuts. I think it quite lousy that this game was licensed to use Dora as the character. It is not at all in the spirit of the Nick Jr. show. Get the Dance to the Rescue DVD instead so your kids can dance along....... this adaptation is pitiful. Trying to convert dancing to mouse clicks just doesn't work....especially for this young a user. If you need a Dora PC game then Fairy Tale Adventure is set up like a real adventure and has some good educational activities. Backpack Adventure and Lost City Adventure, though the layout and the use of Map isn't as good, are both still better choices than this latest release. My 5 year old was so excited. We had been waiting. She and I are both very bummed. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Pooh storybook
My kids loved it.Seems like any Pooh book is a winner.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not very interesting, even for a 2 year old
We have had an older Pooh storybook for years. Both my kids loved it.There was a lot to see and do -- songs, funny things that happened if you clicked on the picture, and nice graphics. So when that storybook finally died, I ordered this one.We were so disappointed! The graphics are simplistic, the storyline choppy, there are no songs, and very few fun things happen when you click on different parts of the picture. When you click out of the story, you have to endure a slow listing of options before you can get back to where you were. This seems to have been put together quickly and cheaply and is not worth the money.Even my Pooh-crazy 2 year old was bored silly and disappointed.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for your kids!

4-0 out of 5 stars Brother Bear an entertaining adaptation overall
Not having seen the movie, I can't comment on screen-to-PC authenticity, but KnowWonder's Brother Bear game is an entertaining romp through a variety of gorgeous, interactive environments (Aspen forest, Valley of Fire, Salmon Run and more) on Kenai's quest to become human again. The game is narrated by Rutt and Tuke, aka the SCTV McKenzie Brothers of moose (voiced by hosers Dave Thomas and Rick Moranis, eh?), who explain the rough idea of Brother Bear: brothers Sitka, Denahi, and Kenai live in the Ice Age Pacific Northwest. When eldest brother Sitka is killed by a grizzly while protecting Kenai, Kenai tracks down the bear and kills it against the advice of the shaman. As punishment, he is transformed into a bear and must escape Denahi, who is now hunting him. Kenai befriends Koda, an orphaned grizzly cub, who helps him reach the place where the light touches the earth.

1-0 out of 5 stars Barbie Team Gymnastics
This is a great idea and my daughter would have loved it but the software is too old and will not work on modern computers.I contacted software support but was told they no longer offer support for this product.I went to their website and found that there is no patch available for it either.I set my computer up to run the software in Windows 95 mode but it still would not work.Their website instructs if you have a Pentium computer then this software will not work at all.

1-0 out of 5 stars Buyer Beware!
This is a great IDEA for a software title - unfortunately it's a big disappointment to the kids if your computer won't run it - as our 2-year old Dell wouldn't.It started out okay, but about three minutes in, a warning comes up stating "CPU Not Supported."So make sure your computer (not just your operating system) meets the spcifications before you buy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Top Notch!
This software ranks on par with Giggles and Kid Pix Deluxe 4. Supreme graphical animations of baby dragons and smooth movement in a detailed background make this game a serendipitous experience for both a three-year-old and her dad. Excellent puzzles make the experience challenging and fun.

I bought this program for my daughters after I read that it received an excellent review in the Children's Software Review magazine. I was expecting it to be good but it surpassed my expectations. The graphics are amazing and simply the bestthat I have ever seen on a children's software program. Playing the game is like watching a high-definition movie! The characters are sweet and lovable and the games are so creative. My girls actually fight over who gets to play it. This is a fresh, fun entertaining gem of children's software!

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome!Maybe even better than the 3rd in some ways
This is a fun, fun game. It's pretty simple and there certainly are better graphics out there, however sometimes the simplest computer games are the best ones.
4-0 out of 5 stars Wagons Ho!
Starcraft, Monkey Island, Medal of Honor, and Freelancer are exceptional games. Oregon Trail belongs among the great games.Oregon Trail II is great for the whole family. I think it would be a great game for teachers to show their students the difficulty the pioneers faced traversing from Illinois and Missouri to Utah and California. You will spend many hours figuring out how to start out as an artist and end up alive and wealthy in California. I suggest you start out as a banker first. Some will enjoy figuring out what medicines and other goods to take and others will enjoy hunting for meat on the trail and deciding which trails to take. I hope to see continued support of this game since my family has had it for years and we never tire of it. The best strategy is to take one of each essential item and then whatever else you can afford. It takes time to figure out what medicines are best for ailments. As for crossing rivers, if they are deep you better caulk the wagon, and if they are fast it is best to double team those horse. If you enjoyed this game you will love Oregon Trail 5. Good luck pioneer!

5-0 out of 5 stars Trail Mix
This is one of the greatest computer games I have ever played. I put it in good company with Monkey Island, Starcraft, Red Alert, Medal of Honor, and Battlefield 1942. These other games are more for adults or boys where Oregon Trail II is great for the whole family. The video is interesting but the game itself not only is fun but a great teaching tool. 3-0 out of 5 stars Okay, but won't keep attention for long
You get what you pay for....my kids enjoyed this and played it constantly for 2 weeks. Then they went back to Reader Rabbit which they have enjoyed for months.

2-0 out of 5 stars Thank goodness it was a gift!
I wouldn't buy this for my kids. Thankfully it was a gift for my 8-year old daughter. She tried to play it on her own at first and couldn't really figure out what to do, I guess she didn't read or listen to the instructions. The instruction file was enormous and complicated to follow for the specified age group. I played it on my own later to see what in fact this was all about. I solved the mystery and actually enjoyed myself, then my daughters(4&8) played it and the mystery was exactly the same for the next 3 times they used it. Maybe I haven't found how to change the level of difficulty, but I felt that everything was too obvious and not really a "mystery". I felt the kids were being humored and this game was really dumbed down. We haven't picked it up again since then, it has been a couple of weeks now. They'd much rather stick to "Clue Finders" and other such programs or the written word than play this game. They may give it another shot soon. Bottom line, this game just doesn't suit our tastes.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not as good as I suspected.
This game is rather easy an does not contain many challenges for my 4-year old.The game was very easy to complete. The game becomes boring rather quickly at times because you had to keep going back and forth from place to place to solve the game.Sometimes you get stuck and am not sure where to go next until you explore some of the places again because the scenes change as the game progresses. The game has excellent graphics and sound but a mediocre story. The game needed more action. ...
