4-0 out of 5 stars Great for preschoolers on Mac OSX
I have a version of this that works on Mac OSX. It's perfect for my 3-year old. It works in full-screen mode so nothing on the desktop is accessable. The Little Bill character gives clear instructions to the user, so kids can figure out most activities by themselves. It's been good practice for my daughter to learn to listen and follow instructions, plus the mechanics of click-and-drag, etc. There's also just a lot of goofy things to click on that she thinks are really funny. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Notice: Game Version
The current version of Mia's Reading Adventure's is 2.1.
1-0 out of 5 stars Very Poor Game - frustrates children and is slow paced
I've seen a lot of children's fun and educational games and this is one of the WORST I've seen especially given the awards it has received. The graphics are great, but the game is EXTREMELY slow paced. It takes too long to get from one activity to another meaning that most of the hours required to play are spent just wandering around Mia's house not learning or accomplishing anything. The character Mia is geared towards 5-year-olds, but most of the games are geared towards 9-year-olds.The font used is hard for young kids to read. (The "g" and "a" for example are not like hand printed letters.)Some of the activities are not explained well, the child often looses even when only chance is involved, and the reward system is so strong that the child is left feeling inadequate rather than enlightened. For example, one activity requires full understanding of syntax of written words. When the child forms word by word the sentence "The cat like to hit balls", he is told "that is not a sentence" and all the work disappears. The child is not corrected or given a second chance to change "like" to "likes".5-0 out of 5 stars An impressive, polished and educational experience - buy it!
This new (2001) game has exceptionally good graphics and animation. Scattered throughout the adventure are educational activities which were:Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One Gem of a Program
Not only has "Stanley" become our 3 year-old son's favorite program on TV, it's also the one my wife and I admire the most. The creative team behind "Stanley" does a remarkable job of making the show educational AND fun. However, we had modest hopes for this software, because other educational software titles we've bought based on TV or movies have proven to span the quality spectrum from merely okay to downright lame.4-0 out of 5 stars Very Enjoyable on many levels
My son's new interest in aquatic life, particularly sharks, is what led us to this software program. He's four years old and very used to working on the computer so we have quite a collection of software. Well, this has become one of his favorite programs for many reasons but mainly because it is FUN. The key character, Stanley, is very likable, smart, and determined to get his school project finished. His British/Australian (?) sounding fish friend sounds nice to listen to and is a good "thinking" companion to Stanley throughout the program. The graphics and music are also very colorful and upbeat. Apart from just playing, I see that my son is also learning bits of information on ocean animals by referencing the "Great Big Book of Everything" during the game. The only frustration is that he wants to start every game from the beginning and if you click on a previously entered name the game picks up where you left off. Other software programs let you choose to start a new game each time. Nonetheless, we both like this program so much that I'm going to explore other Stanley software. By the way, we don't watch the TV program so it's not necessary to know the characters in advance of playing. Just have fun! ... Read more

Our son received this game for his 5th birthday. Once we downloaded all the updates for our graphics/sound software the game worked great. Our son loves trying to get to the next level. He is able to save each game and pick up where he left off.My husband also loves to play the game.A great game for a Jimmy Neutron or computer adventure game lover.

This is a really fun game; especially for those of us who are really dissappointed that sabrina isn't airing anymore. I especially love Drell'swheel of misfortune; the games are super cool. You get to explore sabrina's house and school, which is really fun, and all in all this is a good game. I gave it four stars because after a while it sometimes the CD was a little slow (you'd click on something and it wouldn't respond)but that might have just been my computer's fault. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Imaginext nearly ruined a good thing
My son LOVES Imaginext building sets.He is 9 years old and his friends love them, too.Even the older siblings of these friends. They make up all kinds of stories. They are using their imaginations instead of playing video games. My son begged for this software and I gave in.Within a few hours I regretted my decision. Why did I let Fisher Price come up with his story lines and adventures when he was doing it on his own? That is what is SO great about Imaginext--finally a toy that will cause even older kids to leave the computer and video games.Luckily, I think he found the software to be boring. He played it one evening and that was it.Money wasted, yes. But, I'm glad he's back to creating on his own.I also regret that Imaginext made a video to go with the toy.Let the kids make up the stories! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Humongous/Infogames #1
This is absolutely the best set of kids' computer games except for PuttPutt's Activity Pack (same company)! We have most of PuttPutt, Freddi Fish, Pajama Sam and Spy Fox, plus the soccer, baseball and football. Not only has my 6 year old been playing them successfully for 3 years, but the neighbor kids up to age 12 come over to play them as well (for the past 3 years). You can't go wrong with any of these products for kids not yet too sophisticated to demand interactive advanced graphics. These are the best, and entirely inoffensive.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best kid games...
My kid has all the Freddi Fish , Spy Fox & Pajama Sam titles.5-0 out of 5 stars Pajama Sam Games to Play on Any Day
The sixth Pajama Sam release, this new game doesn't look like it will live up to the others, but it does. There are ten fun new versions of old games. They can be more addicting than the originals, especially if you're a PJ Sam fan! It's a rainy day, and Pajama Sam doesn't know what to do.He looks in the closet for games, and ends up in a world of fun, revisiting with some of his old friends.Because you can't save games, THIS GAME DOESN'T REQUIRE ANY HARD DRIVE SPACE.It will work on practically any computer Windows 95, Mac 7.5.5, or higher, and doesn't need to be installed. It doesn't come with a CD case, just an envelope, but this game stays in my CD-ROM drive all the time because it's so hard to stop playing.I would recommend this for any Pajama Sam junkee, or just a PJ Sam beginner. ... That's what's important right? You wanna teach your children and help them to learn yet try to catch there attention with something at a children's level. This spy idea sure did catch MY attention ! I think it's one of the best ways to teach children instead of forcing facts in to there heads with telvision shows all the time and work books. 2-0 out of 5 stars A disappointment
I bought this game for my 10 year old, and both she and I were really disappointed by it.Basically, it is a journal of Robinson Crusoe's life on the island, with some oppoutruinities to "try out" some of his tasks as you read along. It is not a game, really, in that you are not required to accomplish anything before moving on...all you can do is add color to pictures in the journal if you have successfully accomplished something described therein. Since it is never really clear just what you can try to do, and where you have to go on the island map to do it, it is very confusing.

3-0 out of 5 stars A bit difficult for that age group
The box says 8-12 years old but I personally feel this game may be too challenging. I'm a 20 year old college student who got this game for x-mas and I had major problems getting through the levels with all the "bad guys" swarming around. It took me a few days to complete and I always ended the game that day very frustrated. If you need a hint, Aunt Louisa in the Labtop can be of great help. The graphics are pretty good but the instructions are lacking. Good luck with this game!

3-0 out of 5 stars Fun, but.....
It is really fun and challenging the first time you play, but once you beat it, it doesn't change. It becomes non challenging and boring, because it's too easy. If you like playing a game over and over again, and still be challenged, don't buy this game.

We were very excited to get this software because we are HUGE fans of Disney, but we think this software is absolutely awful! The graphics are poorly organized, many of the graphics are fluff and fillers (i.e. the same images only in black & white then again in color), and, overall the program is cumbersome and tedious to use.We are so disappointed in both Sierra and Disney, we suggest you don't waste your time or money.
