5-0 out of 5 stars Great preschool games
My 3 year old loves this game. He watches Dora on television, and I thought he might enjoy this. I was right about that. He can play the games on his own, and they are entertaining for him. I think some 3 year olds would have problems with some parts of the games while others would be able to play them all. I recommend this for kids from 3-6 years old. Great game!

4-0 out of 5 stars My 2 1/2 year old loves it!
If you are looking for games for a younger child then this one is for you.I bought this 3 pack for my son for his second birthday and it has introduced him to computer operation, taught him pre-preschooler skills, and kept him busy (while I exercise, cook, clean, or take care of my 3 month old he has his computer time). He has been learning matching, number recognition, counting, colors, and even some spanish!I love it!He also loves to create 'drawings' and print them out to hang on his art wall (where we post all of his creations :) or send to his granparents. From this set, I have ventured on to buy more challenging games for him (however, he still enjoys regularly playing the three games), but as a starter set this one is great, especially if your child is as into Dora, Boots, and Diego as my son is.

4-0 out of 5 stars We like it!
My daughter, 3, really loves these games and can now play them by herself from start to finish. It's all very intuitive, so she can easily move from activity to activity.I DON'T like the "adventure" portions of these games -- as someone else wrote, they're WAAAAY too much "video" and not enough interaction. But the "map" portions, where you can click on each activity individually, are great. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Very simple!
This is simple and mindless.Luckily, I only paid $6.99 because it's not worth more than $5.I got it at a regular store, and it was the regular price. It wasn't on sale.$6.99 is their regular price.I only bought this because my kids like Dora.

5-0 out of 5 stars Collect the stars
My almost five year old loves this game. She needed help in the beginning figuring out the controls, but as time goes along she's learning more and more about the computer.I worried that the gaming aspect would be over her head, but it isn't.She follows the story quite well and there are plenty of other activities on this disk to keep a child going for a while.
5-0 out of 5 stars Keeps child's attention!
We got this for our 4 1/2 year old daughter for Christmas. She was able to figure out how to play all of the games without any help.I recommend this game to any parent with a child who loves Dora and loves to play games on the computer. It's more than just a "game", as it's educational, too.It keeps my daughter's attention and she hasn't gotten bored with it yet! ... 3-0 out of 5 stars A good FIRST computer game
My daughter is 3 1/2 and loves Dora. But this game is WAY too simple for her. There just aren't enough things to do, and even the higher levels don't really challenge compared to her two other games: Care Bears and Blue's Clues. If you have a two-year-old or a child who's never played on a computer, this is great at teaching basic color, shape & number recognition and how to use a mouse & click. A better choice for a 3 - 4 year old is Blue's ABC Time Activities.

5-0 out of 5 stars Backpacks Aweigh!!
Our two year old LOVES this video game!I like the educational part where she is learning/relearning her shapes, colors, and numbers.I also like the higher levels that use patterns. The game is engaging and keeps my daughter's attention throughout.I strongly reccommend it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Does not WORK!!!!
We are now on our 2nd disc and both did not work in my computer which is just a few years old. Never had a problem with any other software. Stay away from this game!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this
I installed this computer on a Gateway 700S and it doesn't work at all.I went to Atari's technical support and followed the suggestions for updating video, sound, and DirectX, which didn't help at all. Now I have a game I can't return and can't play.

1-0 out of 5 stars Dora the Explorer Animal Adventures
Software is poor, tried on 3 different computers the cd won't run on any of them. Atari must know about the problem because the web site list what the computer does, but no solution to the problem. Its a waste of time and money. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Nearly any fan of Dora the Explorer's TV show will enjoy this structured "adventure" in which players help the program's intrepid heroine achieve the noble goal of returning her library books on time. While not exactly suspenseful, the program is ideal for children ages 3 to 5 who are just learning how to use a computer. Over a soundtrack of catchy Latin music, the player helps Dora and her perky friends overcome a series of seven obstacles, and collects sticker prizes along the way. The program is unlikely to hold the attention of more computer-savvy kids as it is very predictable, structured, and slow paced. But its emphasis on teamwork, and opportunities to practice color, shape, and number recognition--not to mention learn a little Spanish--make it worthwhile.Read more

Dora the Explorer has lost her teddy bear! Osito is truly missing, and Dora and her friend Boots believe he has ended up--like all mislaid things--in the mysterious Lost City. Planning an expedition to find Osito becomes complicated, though, when it turns out that Dora is far from the only one missing a personal treasure. 1-0 out of 5 stars There are better games available than this one
Like other reviewers here, I also have two Dora fans, ages 4 and 2. Our house is stocked with various Dora merchandise. This game was the most recent addition to our supply of kids computer games. Unfortunately, this game has proven to be the least creative and least educational -- rather boring for my 4 year old. She played the game one time only. The game involves making Dora learn new "dances" by moving the mouse up and down, side to side, or clicking. There are no real games or puzzles to solve, finding hidden objects, nor coloring like the other Dora games. My just turned 2 year old likes to watch the game (like watching a video), but does not quite have the coordination to make Dora dance using the mouse. She ends up getting frustrated because although she can "watch" the game while Mom clicks, she wants to do it by herself and can not.
1-0 out of 5 stars Don't Buy It!
I should have read the reviews before I purchased this item. There's a lot of talking and very little for the kids to do but listen. Not Worth One Star, I'd give it a minus 10!

1-0 out of 5 stars Big Disappointment
Having an almost 3 year old and a just 5 year old girls in the house we are huge Dora fans (and Diego now). We own each and every of the Dora PC games... and most all other Dora merchandise. This new computer game is a huge disappointment. There is no education in this edu-tainment game. If I was using this on a $30 game boy advanced that would be one thing...... the only thing the kids have to do is move the mouse one way or the other...... no letters, colors, shapes (well just a couple), numbers, categorizing, problem solving...... nothing. We use a touch screen interface so it is a real waste for us. Even the last scene when you are supposed to help Dora do the same dance as the king to win the contest......... the selection box to get the right body part is almost impossible..... you try to press Dora's hips, you get her arms....... we are using this on a 19" screen and It was driving me (a very computer literate, mouse able adult)nuts. I think it quite lousy that this game was licensed to use Dora as the character. It is not at all in the spirit of the Nick Jr. show. Get the Dance to the Rescue DVD instead so your kids can dance along....... this adaptation is pitiful. Trying to convert dancing to mouse clicks just doesn't work....especially for this young a user. If you need a Dora PC game then Fairy Tale Adventure is set up like a real adventure and has some good educational activities. Backpack Adventure and Lost City Adventure, though the layout and the use of Map isn't as good, are both still better choices than this latest release. My 5 year old was so excited. We had been waiting. She and I are both very bummed. ... Read more
