5-0 out of 5 stars We'd give it 10 stars if we could!
Kids and adults love solving the puzzles. It is a great intro to basic physics (w/o your kids realizing it!)There are problems to solve and you have to place tools (pulleys, balls, dominoes, candles, etc.) in the right place in order for the goal to be accomplished. Our 5 year old needs help; our 8 year old plays alone. Our friends' teenagers enjoy it also.

5-0 out of 5 stars ~WOW~
This game is a lot of fun. You need to use your head and think about how to solve all of these "wacky contraptions." At first, I thought it was a challenge, but then it got easier and easier. I'm almost at the end of the game and can't wait to see what happens!

5-0 out of 5 stars North Dakota Kid
I am 8 years old and I got Crazy Machines for my Birthday. This is the best game in the world but if you don't like complicated things you won't this game. The four main things are fire, rope, electronics, and the next one I will let you discover. You can either build your own machine or you can figure out problems that may seem hard but after you've done them awhile they are easy. Some of the things that you can build with are boards, balls, robots, cannons, goo, blimps, cords, gravity controlers, scissors, tubes, and plants.Buy this game and have tons of fun! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous! Stupendous! Awesome!
OMG! This game is like, the best! The graphics were great, and the personalities of the people were great too! Almost everyone seemed like a suspect, and more than one person was the culprit. Being herinteractive's second game, this is great!
5-0 out of 5 stars Nancy Drew and the Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake
I thought that this game was totally awesome! I really enjoyed it! I played it in 4 days, and it usually takes me much longer! It wasn't too hard, but hard enough. It's not as scary as some of the Nancy Drew games. There are four charactors: Sally McDonald (the lady who asked you to come there), Red Knott (a birdwatcher), Emily Griffen (a lady who owns a store), and Jeff Akers (the closest thing to a police officer that the town has). You never meet Sally, but you meet the other three. Oh, yes. I forgot you meet the ghost dogs...

2-0 out of 5 stars BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I really didn't like this game at ALL! The mystery about somone dead was good and all, and I know it's Herinteractive's first game, but come on! Cartoon characters?! Plus, it was easy and short, and not hard at all. If I were you, I would NOT buy this at all, NAH-AH! I hope this review helped! =) ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Get Chessmaster Instead
I gave my Chessmaster 9000 to a friend and bought Fritz 9 as a replacement. Big mistake. Fritz may have a slightly more powerful engine but there are only a few Grand Masters who would even test the limits of any chess program. For 99% of the people, Chessmaster would crush them.
5-0 out of 5 stars Chess review
This game is highly interactive and has the ability to personalize in many ways.I have enjoyed many hours of playing.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fritz 9 has the software, but not the engine
You want a simple chess program? Go search for WinBoard. If you want to play 3D Chess just for the look, then I am sure you can find all sorts of swanky looking 3D chess boards out there. If I want to play on-line I can go on yahoo games and play any one of the thousands of chess games for free for as long as I want. If however you are interested in chess engines (the AI behind the chess software) then obviously you are considering getting a decent piece of chess software with some brains rather than just a ritzy looking chess board (why not actually spend on a ritzy look chess board instead!). The Fritz 9 package is basically offering the latest Chessbase software and the Fritz 9 engine. There are many engine players out there who like to play with the best engines such as Rybka, Hiarcs, Shredder, TOGA II, Deep Fritz or Fruit. Fritz from Chessbase currently offers the best chess analysis software. Most people who want to play chess complain that it is too complex for their needs. Chess players, who play computer chess, play it with Chessbase. Even the GMs (grandmasters) are known to use it. So for people who just want to play chess, then Fritz is probably not for them, especially at the price tag, which is near a whopping $40 for chess and can be upgraded to a $100 worth of chess software if you go with the latest engines. Let us just state for the record right now that there is a very cheap and excellent Chessbase product called "Deep Fritz: Grand Master Deluxe" for $20. It comes with the Deep Fritz 8 engine and the Fritz 8 Chessbase software. That is a very powerful engine and a very nice piece of Chessbase software, which has all the same analysis tools as the latest Fritz 9 Chessbase software update. For $20 that kind of chess power is an absolute steal. The problem is that it is just not the latest Chessbase software. Before we talk about engines we should talk about the Fritz 9 Chessbase software which is at its cheapest in the Fritz 9 chess package. The Fritz 9 manual is a bit better than any previous offering. It is in full color. There is also an entirely separate manual for the on-line Playchess feature. Fritz 9 loads quicker and runs quicker. It defaults to a blue and white board that is not so harsh on the eyes. The icons are nicer. The arrows indicating movement are transparent and do not look as stark. There are some new game types. The 3D board is greatly enhanced with a new 3D control panel for moving the board and camera. There are expanded 3D settings with new character animations, such as the Turk, Mia and the Fritz room with enhanced visual effects with fully rendered backdrops. The manual however is probably what sets Fritz 9 apart from it predecessors as the tutorial is much easier to follow and if you spend a bit of time you can learn all there is to learn about Chessbase just by reading the manual, something that was not really possible with earlier versions without asking someone who knew what they where doing. Is it worth the extra $20 to go from "Deep Fritz: Grand Master Deluxe" to Fritz 9? The answer to that depends on what you want. If you find that Deep Fritz 8 does not offer much of a challenge anymore then you will probably want to improve your engine. The problem is that Fritz 9 might not be the best improvement available to you. The "CSS - Rating List" is a good chess engine rating list. The "bff-liste" is also good and so is the "SSDF Ratings list". Although Rybka leads them all there is some discrepancies between Hiarcs 10, Shredder 10 and Fritz 9. TOGA II is free from UCI and Chessbase can import UCI engines. That is a phenomenal free upgrade. If you want to pay for the best then Rybka is where it is at, but that costs a whopping $70 without Chessbase software. Hiarcs 10 and Shredder 10, come with the new Chessbase software but at a price of $50. Fritz 9 is $10 cheaper with an engine that can compete (note compete, not always beat, but compete and even loose) with Hiarcs 10 and Shredder 10. Fritz 9 is currently the standard Chessbase offering. It is available almost everywhere. Hiarcs 10 and Shredder 10 are a bit harder to get because they are professional chess engines and not mainstream like the Fritz and Deep Fritz offerings. The truth is that your best deal is "Deep Fritz: Grand Master Deluxe" for $20 which gives you Deep Fritz 8, the last Chessbase software without a great manual but with full analysis and an import function for the UCI Toga II engine. That is a very powerful piece of chess software for $20. If you really want the latest Chessbase software then Fritz 9 gives you just that for $40 plus the Fritz 9 engine. Fans of Hiarcs or Shredder would probably feel better shelling out the extra $10 for their favourite engine that comes with the Fritz 9 software package. The top professional players will probably get Fritz 9 for $40 just for the Chessbase software update and buy the Rybka engine for $70 for a whopping $110 chess software package. Right now it is all relative to how much you want to spend and if you have a preference for Hiarcs or Shredder. Also Chessbase software is not the most stable software in the world. Fritz 9 chessbase software does solve some its old crashing problems and analysis bugs. A lot of the mystery lockups and functions that cease to work in previous editions are working now. The bottom line however is that there is nothing like Chessbase software out there, but there are optional versions of this software. Since nothing can compete with it we should be lucky to get a Chessbase upgrade at all, even if it is a poor one, it at least tries to correct a few things... but it could correct a whole lot more. If you own a previous Chessbase I don't think you should be worrying too much. If you have bought Hiarcs 10 or Shredder 10, then you have the latest Chessbase and some of the nicest engines out there. What you really need to know is that you can work out a better engine configuration than Fritz 9 with "Deep Fritz: Grand Master Deluxe" plus TOGA II, for half the costs ($20). For $40 you spend an extra $20 on the latest Chessbase software, but the TOGA II engine can beat the Fritz 9 engine. The very existence of TOGA II for free with Chessbase's ability to import that engine is why I would say doing a bit more research is important. However you can easily slap down $40, get Fritz 9 with the latest Chessbase software, and TOGA II for free also. You can pay an extra $10 and have the same configuration with Hiarcs 10 and Shredder 10 with a free TOGA II. "Deep Fritz: Grand Master Deluxe" offers the best value overall. Fritz 9 is nice to have but absolutely not necessary, but it is still a great engine, and not as bad as many would like to make it out to be. I am sure many software users are waiting until Deep Fritz 9 comes out... and probably rightly so. Maybe then we would have a new Fritz engine worth talking about.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow.... A real award winner!
This is by far one of the most suprising games I have ever played. The graphics aren't spectacular, but they're pretty good. No, the aspect of the game that amazed me was the gameplay, and the puzzles. I came across this game a year ago, and having played many tycoon games decided to buy it, expecting the typical mudane tycoon game that has some crippling bugs (game that come to mind include cruise ship tycoon, mall tycoon, airport tycoon, etc.)
5-0 out of 5 stars Intelligent fun if you like physics and science
Make sure you get the cheats to keep a lot of cash in the bank. This game is totally addictive.

1-0 out of 5 stars NO tech support
Game sounded good but have not been able to play it.Bought it for my kids for Christmas and installed on two computers.I'm having serious video problems on both machines that render the game unplayable.Called Viva Media and got a message telling me the best way to get support was by email.I have emailed their tech support 3 times since December 29th (today is Feb 5) and have received only automated responses that tell me to be patient. Well, we are working on week six...

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow! I'm impressed..........
My 8 year old girl has several Disney princess games and they're stupid, so I was skeptical about this. Way better then Disney. It's an excellent game, my daughter plays all the time. In fact the whole family likes to play it. From my 3 year old son to my "tough guy" husband. We like decorating cakes and making stain glass windows in a thousand different ways. The graphics, color, and sound are great. I highly recommend it. We have not experienced a bug like another reviwer did. I have not experienced that on any of my games.

5-0 out of 5 stars This game is great!!!Best one yet!!
My daughter loves this game. She got it for christmas last year when she was 5 1/2.She still loves this game. And what I loved was that it took her a few days to finish, unlike some other games that she finished in one sitting, which is really frustrating to her, cause after playing the Princess and the Pauper, she kind of expects all the games to be great and have lots of things to do.The graphics are pretty cool, and there are lots of things to do, from making cakes, to making pretty stained glass windows, to decorating rooms, planting flowers and watering them and watching them grow, playing with and grooming the cats, helping the neighborhood people with tasks, and so much more, I can go on and on.I have no complaints about this game.My daughter has a nice collection of computer games, and this one is by far the best one yet!You definitely will not be wasting your money on this game!

5-0 out of 5 stars Hours of fun, fun, fun, with Princess and the Pauper CD-ROM!
I LOVE Princess and the Pauper! I love to have fundecoratin'the castle and makin' cakes and stained-glass windows.Overall this game is wonderful and educational!Beautiful, too! My favorite part of the game is the coronation and the little song. Unlike other people, I haven't hit that bug at all. I think it's something about ''no lip-synch data'' and ''giving people flowers''. After all, who would give a bad singer flowers?!?!? (well maybe a few....)PS: I might even buy the movie Princess and the Pauper! Because I love the game soooooooo much!!!This game is definetly #1 ! (: 'BARBIE LOVER' :) ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Great for babies, a bit too simple for toddlers
I bought the keyboard and a few of the games for my son when he was 2. He couldn't use the mouse yet but was always interested in the computer so this allowed him to play. He really loved pushing the buttons and watching the characters and other things appear on the screen. A few months later though he learned how to use a mouse and there was no going back. The games that you can buy for kids who can use a mouse are way more interactive and fun than this (and much cheaper). The keyboard is great for a baby or very young toddler, but too simple for older toddlers or pre-schoolers.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great !!!
Great creative gift for a grandchild that will offer many hours of learning as well as feeling of accomplishment!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Description incorrect - no Elmo, but a good product anyway
We received the comfy keyboard as a gift for my 20 month old son for Christmas. The description and product reviews here on amazon talk about an Elmo phone and that is incorrect. The Elmo phone is a separate product and I don't know why they have combined the two here.I have contacted amazon about this, but no changes have been made.I would contact them directly if you are interested in purchasing this item to be sure you are getting the right thing.

2-0 out of 5 stars i suck and so does this game
i wrote a review for the other finding nemo game and i gave it 1 star! i dont know what i was thinking to buy this game because the last one was boring and way too easy. this one is no diffrent. it still sucks times 10. but i have to say the graphics are great!A+. BUT the game is still bad and as always i knew my brother would like it! he didnt and his 5. he said "this game is way too easy and boring. i dont want it."then he pretented to throw up. my mom didnt like it either. my friends thought they were too old for it because were 10 and my dad said why we bought this junk. so right now its sitting on the shelf dusty. we now have 20 dollars down the drain. stupid nemo and this company, they cant even invent a game that us 10-13 year olds can play.

1-0 out of 5 stars i got this game and.................

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
Read an earlier review which slammed this product. Found my students to achieve decent proficiency in typing. I use it from 2nd Grade to 6th Grade. So what if it shows a canned movie. Yep I wish it would do provide other features i.e. a network version of the product so that I can review progress charts from a single view. However, despite these "shortcomings" this is one of the better typing programs in respect to achieving results. The kids love it and any program that gets students excited and involved is half-way there.

5-0 out of 5 stars Can teach a 6 year old to type!!!
I bought this as a gift for my six year old who wanted to learn to type on the computer, tried other products at the library and the librarian recommended this one. I installed this easily on an old pentium 166 running Windows 98.It runs better than most kids software. It does have some issues with typing too fast or too slow but frankly I think it helps you place your fingers cleanly and accurately.1-0 out of 5 stars Non-functional, out-of-date software
Marketing gives the impression that this is a 3D interactive, when in fact it is not. After the interactions occur, and sometimes during, you are shown a canned quicktime movie. Same movie may be shown over and over and over...Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Saddle up : Time to ride
I have had this game for about 2 years now and I still can't figure out the code for the wheel thing! It is a fun game but it can be frustrating! The graphics are okay but the way the horses back up is really weird! When you pick the hooves it's realistic that if you accidently pick the frog (the inside part of the hoof) you loose points but the amout of pebbles in the hooves?! This game is neat because the competions are great and you can make your own personalized competition and the horses come in a wide vairity but I think Saddle up with Pippa Funell might be more enjoyable!

4-0 out of 5 stars This game is really cool!
At first, this game was confusing. The hoof picking really confused me. The trick to hoof picking is to NOT clean in all spaces that look dirty. Only pick the right side of the hoof and try not to get the top. The mystery was hard to solve, I had to chase a crazy person on horseback five times before I could follow him without being seen and it was kind of frustrating. I got to do lots of competitions, but winning more horses meant more chores. Talking to the people was fun (except Garance). I LOVED this game and I recommend it to anyone who is patient and loves horses!

5-0 out of 5 stars Boring
It is perity boring once you play it alot but it is perity fun.the other thing about it is once you are this close to ending the game it will get so hard you even need a grown up with you.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars A Total Disappointment
Do not buy this game. For ages 7 and younger it is simple and easy to use and would be fine to start off a youngster with horsey computer games, but overall it is repetitive and boring. If you really want a good horse game buy Saddle Up Time to Ride, Saddle Up with Pippa Funnell, All the Let's Ride! games are great, though I thought that the Let's Ride! Corral Club was more childish than the others. A good deal is the Let's Ride! Champions Collection which has 3 horse games. 2 of them being really good: Mary King's Riding Star, and Equestriad 2001.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't Waste Your Money
This game sucks, don't waste your money.Go buy Saddle Up: Time to Ride or any other LexisNumerique horse riding game.

2-0 out of 5 stars Jump and ride a little behind the times.
Let's face it. Jump and Ride will never be on the same level as other equestrian games such as Equestriad or Let's Ride Rosemond Hill. I don't mean to say it's a bad choice. Five years ago there were no equestrian games save barbie (and this game has an eerie resemblence to the races in barbie). In the 21st century this game is slightly overmatched. The game's addictive but lacks some of the factors found in games in the Let's ride collection. For starters, there are only six horses which differ slightly in characteristics. Play is easy until you move to the normal level. here you have to hit "/" rhythmically (whatever that means) until your arms fall off. in hard you hit "/" and ".", and in pro you hit four keys which is impossible if you've ever tried it. In case you are mistaken, "/" does not make the horse go, it only controls speed. since the computer is perfect then you will most likely lose. Racing against friends is better since you are evenly matched. This is fun for people who value having competition instead of just competing. This gets two stars because I thought I was buying an actual steeplechase, like the Grand National, with a twenty horse field. I also don't like how the horses look and how you can't give them names or change their colors. The graphics are nothing to shake a stick at either. By the way, why are there no unlockable features? ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantasy Dressing Artist Designer Dream for Every Princess
This is soooooo fun and beautifull and all the princesses! No problem at all with my computer in installing and the voices are beautifull and clear. I guess the sound in the other reviewer's computer must have had a problem. This is the BEST fashion cd rom with the plus of having the princesses in it that I have seen. My daughter is 4 and can play with it. But its a discovery type game, ie you find out how everything works as you get more familiar with it. In the beginning things seem not to be working but with time you see that OH, now I have to drag and click not just click, or OH here you have to click on the icon first and then on the picture for it to do what you want! Have patience and you will become an expert princess! Very cheap for the amount of stuff you can do with it, also grows with the child. For young ones mom should play with it BEFORE the child to avoid initial frustration so you can explain some of the quirks to her first. Happy princessing this is a dream!

4-0 out of 5 stars We Love Cinderella
My daughter (aged five) loves this CD and all the games on it.Unlike the other reviewer, we have never had a problem with our sound. We have also given this as a birthday gift and have had positive feedback from other mothers.

We were looking for a game for the PC for my brainy 8 year old. Most games for his age cause boredom, but so many "older" games have violence we dont want for him. This was the perfect balance! He has been on the computer with this game from the first day he received it (almost a week ago) and has enjoyed hours of play. As, parents, we are pleased to have found something we highly approve and something he likes...cannot wait to purchase the other Odyssey games! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars JumpStart Explorers teaches history, geography, and science
Hello, everyone! You can call me StoryMaker. JumpStart Explorers is fun and teaches, like Knowledge Adventure's other JumpStart products. Meet CJ Frog and Edison Firefly, two partners who travel all over! CJ's neices and nephews, some frisky tadpoles and polliwogs, drop by one day, in search of a rainy day game of hide-and-seek! CJ and Edison agree to seek, but those tadpoles go into CJ's time machine to hide all over the world and all over time! CJ and Edison need your help to track down the tadpoles. I love the sphynx decorating activity in Egypt! You choose a head, make a face, and add some extra things! Also, the cat-taking-care-of activity is fun and funny (the cat makes expression-filled funny noises when you put pink makeup on her!) I learned a lot of history from this program. I like the dogsled activity, but it is sometimes hard to control. It also has some great jokes and stuff. The llama spitting at you is not the best, but you would expect it to not be good for a llama to spit at you, even if the llama is in the computer. I want to try some of the craft instructions you get as presents! They look cool! Overall, a nice, exciting, fun JumpStart game that teaches history and other things. Signed, StoryMaker. "Gotta trust the kid's review!"

4-0 out of 5 stars JumpStart Explorers review
You can call me Russian Blue Witch (RBW for short). The first thing I want to say about this game is it's great! It all starts when one rainy day the tadpoles dropped by without knocking. They want to play hide-and-seek, but instead of just hiding, they climb aboard CJ's time portal to hide within time. They think that CJ will never find them there. Think again, small tadpoles! With your help, CJ and Edison zoom thru time to rescue those pesky tadpoles. The age range dosen't seem correct, because I am over the top of it. I learned everything it teaches about Egypt before, but with practically everything else I'm stumped (without playing this program, that is). Anyway, it's very good at teaching you while you play a fun game. It has games where you take care of animals, games where you pick plants, and other games that are great fun! One of my favorite games is in the pilgrim area where you prepare for the feast. The only problem is, it dosen't last long. They also have mazes where you collect items on your way to the end of the maze, but the problem is the maze is timed and so you feel like you have to skip over some bonus items to make it to the finish in time. It is a great game for all ages and I highly reccomend it. ~Russian Blue Witch

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW! This is a fantastic program!
This is one of the best educational software programs I have ever seen. The graphics, interface design and games are fantastic. My daughter is fascinated with history and she loves exploring the different places and times around the world. I love the fact that kids can earn crafts to do offline. The crafts are related to the historical time period and they are very simple and easy to make with minimal supplies. The directions are short and simple and they provide all needed templates, outlines, etc. For example, you can make an Incan headress with just paper, and a pilgrims vest out of a paper bag. You can also earn stickers to print and put on your own wall map or print the one they provide. This is just a superb program and one your child is sure to enjoy! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars fun game.kids may need some help, especially at first.
I like the concept for this game. You have to visit various friends and locations to gather ingredients to make cookies. Then you take the ingredients to the cookie factory and use them to make cookies. The cookie making part is great because you can thumb through a "cookbook" and choose a recipe for which you have the correct ingredients. This gets kids thinking about how recipes/cookbooks work if they haven't yet had much cooking experience. It is an extremely rudimentary "cookbook" but still, the concept is there and this isn't a cooking program anyway. After you choose your recipe, you have to put the ingredients into the cookie making machine and the cookies are make.there are about 10 (give or take) different kinds of cookies. When you visit the locations to get the ingredients, you have to play a game to be awarded the ingredients. Some games are very easy, and others (such as orange collecting at orange blossom acres) is difficult yet fun.I always have to help my 4 yo with the orange blossom game, but she enjoys watching me figure it out.She can do the rest of the game by herself. She really likes this game.
