5-0 out of 5 stars Trick your kids into learning
This game was purchased for a young girl aged 4 years 8 mo.She had very little computer experience, and a little phonic work in Pre-K.This game was right up her alley. Some of the tasks were easy, giving her a sense of mastery, but the difficulty level increases nice and slow and she didn't even realize. They mix in fun non-learning activities as a reward (decorating the float). As a result, her reading skills have significantly improved in the past month and so have her computer mousing skills.Haven't found a good typing game for a 4 year old yet, that's next.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Learning Game
This game is awesome and teaches kids phonics, letter recognition, matching, numbers, and they don't even know they are learning becuase they are having fun. They complete tasks and get fun prizes that boost self confidence. It helps kids navigate on the computer and gets them comfortable with a mouse.

5-0 out of 5 stars My daughter loves this software game!
My daughter just turned 3 years old in October and she loves this game. It's very educational and fun at the same time. She was able to navigate through the carnival games right from the start so it's very user friendly. While she's known all her capital letters and the sounds each letter makes for some time now, she's learning to recognize the lower case letters and to spell 3 and 4 letter words from using this game. She's only had it for a few days but I can already see she's learning a lot from playing with it.I highly recommend this one for it's educational value. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great software for my 3-year-old child!
This Clifford Reading software is really great for my 3-year-old child. She is able to play all the games herself and navigate around the screens easily without me helping her, which is great for when I have other work to do. We had a problem with the Richard Scarry software; there was just too much going on visually (great for books, confusing for click navigation) and this one is better in that regard. It is visually more obvious where you are to click or what to do, and the narration by Emily Elizabeth is clear and helpful. The games are cute. She loves the T-shirt stamper animation after correctly spelling a 3-letter word. Second favorite is "pop the balloon that says 'xxx'" and you have to correctly pop several word ballons that float by in order to dunk Clifford in the carnival dunk tank. What kid doesn't love being allowed to pop a bunch of balloons and then making a dog swim? This software makes learning the words really fun instead of frustrating. The beginning level is challening but not too hard; she can still win the prize tickets and get a prize/present from the big carnival claw-grabber prize bin. The prize/present unwraps itself and is a printable item like a coloring page, abc dot-to-dot, colorable finger puppets, etc. You can color these on-screen and/or print them out, and they are automatically saved for you in case you want to print them out later. Overall, I really love this software, it was a great purchase, and I am definitely buying it for all of the other kids I know as well as checking out all of the other Clifford titles. Great!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great first reading progam for pre-schoolers and kindergarten
As well as all the games which my 5 year old kids find addictive, there are also 26 mini lessons on each letter of the the alphabet and lots of mini stories to read. So there is some hard core education for parents to assist children and its not just all easy peasy games pitched at very young children.
4-0 out of 5 stars Good...but...
My 5 year old daughter is enjoying this package, BUT...be aware that on Windows XP and Windows 2000 that the program has to be installed AND run as a user with administrative rights. Not exactly the kind of account I would choose to setup for a small child.

My 10 year old doesn't like to read, but he loves history. He has really enjoyed this Liberty's Kids CD-Rom, and has shared his printed newsletters with his teachers, who now want to order the CD-Rom.I was amazed at how accurate the information was, and how much fun it was for my son.I highly recommend this for any child who is interested in American History.

5-0 out of 5 stars I loved it!

5-0 out of 5 stars My Kiddo Loves it !
I stumbled on Arthur's Wilderness Rescue CD. I wondered if my 4 year old kiddo (then) would like playing with Arthur on computer CD instead of reading Arthurs' books. Initially, he was stucked in the games, wondering what to do and how to clear certain obstacles. I remembered this wireframe tent, one in grey and another in color. The challenge was to put the wireframe to form the shape of the tent. He tried at first with frustration and that brought the daddy (me) in to help him out. You bet! When he got the colored wireframe right.... he got the grey wireframe completed all by himself. Believed me! The grey wireframe was harder to get it right for a kiddo. That successful attempt kind of brought up my kiddo's confidence level and he moved along and keep trying all by himself. Of course, the daddy came into the picture at times.

3-0 out of 5 stars Cyberchase Carnival Chaos
As an avid fan of the show, I HAD to have this game, and now that I have it, I'm not sure what I think of it. It's kind of hard (I can only do two games on it), but, on the other hand, it's a lot of fun to see the charaters from my favorite show on here. (Especially Buzz and Delete- I really like them.) So, I think a die-hard fan should look into it, but be prepared: it's not as easy as it looks.

This Arthur math game is nice for first grade. However, not second grade or above. The math problems are too easy. For example, the most difficult calculation is still on the 1-digit base. 1-0 out of 5 stars Rediculously slow on my new Macintosh
This title runs rediculously slow on my new Macintosh. Some of the mini-games take 10 minutes or more to complete (race-a-long, for example)!!!Stay away from this dog.

4-0 out of 5 stars Season Sensation!
While there are some valid points to the earlier criticsm of Caillou Seasons this is really a fun program that offers kids tons of choices. I bought this for my neice and ended up being the hero of the birthday party. The game is really cute and held her attention as well as bringing about lots of discussion about the various seasons, her likes and dislikes about them and plans for the upcoming fall. It looks like it will be Caillou for Christmas if I want to keep my prefered uncle status going. Just hope my brother and his wife can cope with the theme song that gets stuck in your head.

4-0 out of 5 stars Love the Seasons
I agree with the reviews that Four Seasons is a little tight, that you're not sure which clothes go with which season(coordinate by color), and when Caillou spins (in the racing game) it's suppose to be a bad thing; however, my son and I LOVE this CD.He is 5, and we love discussing the seasons of the year and learning the exciting characteristics of each.I haven't seen any other software that teaches this.See-saw, build a snowman, rake leaves, ice skate, and roller blade thru the year. As you work thru the activities you collect items for your "Nature Book."When you've completed a season you can print the nature book, staple, and color. My son loves Four Seasons, and I reminisce about going through the seasons in my own childhood. Educational, fun, sweet - you can't miss! ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Repetitive
We own a lot of educational/entertaining software for kids.I bought this hoping it would be a step up from some of the Reader Rabbit and Jumpstart programs for Math.I was disappointed, as it is very repetitive and the "story" doesn't seem to tie together. My daughter played it once or twice, but hasn't been interested since.I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. The math is too difficult for the age that would find the games fun. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Mixed reviews
I agree with a previous reviewer about the long introduction, the explanations and the long credits at the end.My daughter (aged 3 1/2) continually clicks on things throughout the explanations and gets frustrated when no results are forthcoming. The treasure hunt we haven't figured out yet.(We've only played a few times but you'd think it would be easier for that age group.I don't even think she realizes that it's part of the game).2-0 out of 5 stars zoboomafoo creature quest
This has so far been a disappointment. It takes like 12 steps to go through the introductory screens, and if you mess up, you have to start completely over. It also loads awfully slow and we have a top of the line loaded new computer. The game instructions are very long, and you have to listen to them every time, and they are mostly unnecessary, they should be under a help option. You can't even click to skip it, meaning you have to have a lot of patience while waiting. The animals are pretty obscure and not common/familiar. The animal facts I cant imagine ever being of much interest to a kid. I expected much better stuff from the Learning Company, especially since this program has received so many awards (no doubt through reputation). In comparison with other products, I can't identify one redeeming aspect for this software. The games are boring and mundane and many are a step down from even other "toddler" programs that are targeted to lower ages. Here I was looking to step up from the toddler programs which our daughter has already mastered. At least I got it very cheap. Its not much fun or entertaining. Not much area to navigate about and explore. No animation to speak of, other than the videos. Nothing clever or interesting or rewarding for mouse clicks. I have to report there are many better programs, and I could never recommend this one for fun, challenge, entertainment, or educational value. It does not hold her attention, she easily handles most of the games/activities, and she's like okay now what. And she still has a long ways to go before reaching age 3. The only games on this CD that she doesn't really know what she is doing is the chameleon and the coyotes, but even those she guesses her way to completion. I can't imagine her growing into liking this CD any more than she does now, in fact I'm certain she will like it less and less because she already expects more stimulation. Even now she prefers clicking around under encarta encylopedia more so than using this CD when it comes to short video clips. Even the logic aspect of finding puzzle pieces seems lame to me when compared to other such programs. I don't forsee her ever wanting to come back to this program when she's ready for more sofisticated logic games and ready to spell or do math. I should mention we started out our daughter on kids computer games before age 1, and she is just fascinated to the point of playing them every day, and she is just amazingly competent with them and now already figures out most kid games on her own. She is very familiar with counting and colors and shapes and mazes and matching and patterns and searching and picture drawing. She has pretty much seen it all. And this CD doesn't cut the mustard for new exciting stuff.

4-0 out of 5 stars fun, entertaining and age-appropriate software
Little Zoboo fans rejoice! This entertaining software is stable, charming and fun.Multiple cut scenes feature the Kratt Brothers and Zoboomafoo's friends in Zoboo-Land, as kids click on objects scattered around Animal Junction. With two exceptions the eight activities are age-appropriate and well-implemented, with three skill levels in coloring, mazes, matching, object identification, counting, bubble popping and pattern match; the latter two games are unnecessarily difficult and confusing, but kids can get through them by clicking away randomly. Also included is a virtual tape recorder with mini-films and factoids about a number ofanimals.Well done.Read more
