5-0 out of 5 stars love it!
i have two kids ages 6 and 4 and we have had this game for over 4 years. we love it! we have had numerous other computer games but this one is right up there in our top two. my 4 year old still loves all the games (bubble castle and baby basket bingo are favs), and my 6 year old is still into the alphabet train. i love making music, the little ducks are my favorite! adorable sights and sounds in this game. beware though, the tunes from this are going to get stuck in your head for days, but are cute so it's worth it.:)

5-0 out of 5 stars From a Grandmother's point of view
This program is totally interactive. My grandson -- who is two and a half and has a two and a half year old's attention span spent 25 to 30 minutes at a time playing with the shapes and bubble castle.A wonderful experience

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Wonderful
My grandson just turned 3.He loves this CD.It is easy for him to use because he doesn't need to click the mouse. It is still difficult for him to hold the mouse steady when he clicks. If the mouse moves, he doesn't get a response and then gets very frustrated. This CD eliminates that problem. The activities are great fun for him.He likes the coloring and the "bubble castle" best.I highly recommend this CD. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great product
I was afraid this was a limited version software for the price- but it wasn't. It was better than I expected, and my first grader loves it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Kept my 6 yr old entertained
My six year old spent several hours playing this the first couple of weeks.I'd like to add that the game is fairly complex and he needed help. The thing I liked was he was learning while having fun!

3-0 out of 5 stars Good but difficult to use
I bought this for my 6 yr. old grandson who just completed kindergarten. However, his favorite activity in kindergarten was computer lab so I decided to give him the opportunity to use a computer at home. I purchased Reader Rabbit 1st Grade. My opinion about the program is mixed.

5-0 out of 5 stars Preschool Computer Lab Teacher = Thumbs Up!
I have taught preschool computer lab for two years and have successfully used this software with my 1, 2 & 3 year old students during both school years.I love this software because no mouse clicks are required - only moving the mouse which greatly increases my students hand-eye coordination with the mouse.
5-0 out of 5 stars Easy for kids to do and FUN
Reader Rabbit Toddler is the best software I have bought so far - its easy for my son to use (if kids cannot use the mouse yet most games work just by hitting keys) and has alot of fun activities. From the main menu you move a "Star flower" to one of nine fun activities - includingan alphabet train where you match the letter key to the boxcar to see it open;a musical meadow where you move a bee from flower to flower to hear them play;a bubble castle where you pop bubbles to free the animals - it has a variety of fun activities that my son has loved from 18 months to 3+.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great fun but a bit buggy
This program is a lot of fun and has a variety of activities to delight little ones.Because the activities can all be done just by moving the mouse or trackball (without pressing buttons), even a very beginning mouser can manage it.Pressing (or pounding on) keys also causes things to happen on the screen, so even without using the mouse your child can have a great time if you are brave enough to let him or her pound on your keyboard (not necessarily recommended - my daughter made off with my Z last week!)Many of the toddler activities are simple enough to do that a younger child can enjoy them too (but they still have learning potential for the toddler). My only complaint is that the program seems a bit buggy. It periodically locks up my computer so I have to reboot, which is very frustrating for my daughter.Overall it's a lot of fun.Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Poor interface and awful sound
This program is terrible. The music during the phonics section is too loud and it is difficult to hear the pronunciation of the letters. The games either shove the user through w/o learning or the interface is so difficult that your child wont be able to figure out what the game wants. As for the "satisfaction guarantee" that is on the box it doesnt include shipping so you'll be out 25% of your purchase price or worse. AVOID!

5-0 out of 5 stars Reader Rabbit 2nd Grade
A+ rating from my 7 year old boy. He's had other Reader Rabbit software and this one is right up his alley. There are plenty of levels for him to be challenged by and when you initially begin the program it gives the child an "assessment" so they know what level to start him off with.If he gets stuck in one level, he can skip to another part of the game doing something else and come back to what he was doing. It's perfect for a child who is high energy. This program is challenging, not too easy for him, which is good.He sneaks off to his room to play this program, just what he needs as an "educational treat."He loves the music and there's plenty of visual rewards! At any time, I can pull up and see a chart that tells me how far he's completed each task, that's really great. He will play this CD for an hour or more and not because I've asked him to.I've found his confidence level is higher now too, the CD has lots of verbal reinforcement and encouragement.I think the 2nd grade level is very appropriate too, some 2nd grade programs are too easy or hard...this one seems like it has a wide range to accommodate all second graders.I highly recommend this program for all children, especially active boys who love a challenge.BUY IT, BUY IT, BUY IT!

5-0 out of 5 stars Works with Special Needs Kids
I was amazed that after only about 2 weeks of playing with this, my 2 year old son was actually able to figure out the games. He has severe language difficulties, sensory issues and behavior problems.Usually he could not sit long enough to play a computer game because there was not enough interaction for him.He loves this game and points to the computer all the time to try to tell me he wants to play.He is actually trying to "count" to 5 with the game and "sing" (in his own gibber-jabber language)some of the songs. There is no exact mouse clicking to frustrate him.Anything close works! This is an awesome game for toddlers to feel like the big kids and not be frustrated.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun program, nice songs
It is quite a stretch to call this 'pre-school'.My 4 year old quickly became bored with it, and the math sequence is interminable and goes on for what seems like forever.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hours of fun and laughter
We got this for our daughter who was 7 at the time, and she chose to play Reader Rabbit over playing Playstation or Nintendo 64 games. The friendly characters are so encouraging and so cute that my daughter walks away when done playing with a smile on her face and a really good attitude. That doesn't happen when playing other video games.

4-0 out of 5 stars An enjoyable game (the first time)
My daughter rushed to complete all of the tasks needed tostart the show.It took a period of a few weeks playing an hour at a time. She was very persistent and enjoyed creating the signs that pop up throughout the scenery. The costume-matic (which forces you to make exact change) was very good for my first grader and took some time so that she didn't exceed the amount required. However once done and we saw the show, the game leaves you unable to do anything else.We have to sign on as a new person or uninstall the game to start it over again.I'm considering trading my game with friend, so they can enjoy it. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Very good for building logic skills
I tutor children for a living and I have found this software to be very good for building logic skills in children. It is stimulating to them and doesn't lose them by becoming difficult too quickly. This game is much better than it's math and reading counterparts.Although they are useful, they span too many levels at one time.I would say Thinking Adventures can be used as early as 3 years and still can remain challenging until 5 or 6 years of age.You can leave a child alone with this software for 2-10 minutes at a time (I would not recommend children playing on a computer for longer than this as they need physical stimulation), whereas most educational software for this age requires constant instruction from an adult.

5-0 out of 5 stars Math Adventures is Great!
I bought RR Math Adventures three years ago, and my son who is now almost 8 has used it off and on ever since. When he was younger I sat with him and explained some of the easier concepts, and little by little, he has finished the disk.I'm especially impressed by his understanding of fractions - which they haven't had in school yet, and currency - since we don't even live in the U.S. and he's never even seen U.S. money. Not to mention that English is a second language for him.I think that speaks very well of the teaching methods of this program. I've also run it on Win98 and XP with no problems. We've enjoyed this disk very much.

1-0 out of 5 stars Says XP compatible - but not
We got this game since our boy will be going to Kindergarten this fall. The description said it was XP compatible - but it won't even load.
