Very pleased!
Our 6 yr. old daughter loves this software. I have started limiting her computer time now, because if I didn't she would play this game for hours. It works well, user friendly and the format is great. Love the colors and animation.
Worthless
I have a new HP computer.Loaded the game and it says the necessary sound card/program is not on the computer - but it is!Needless to say, the program will not run.

XP Help

never delivered!!
I would like to review this game but i havent recieved it!!

Loved it...when i could play it
I used to play this all the time when i was young and it was honestly one of my absolute favorite games.I was able to play it on my XP OS in 2003 (changed the color settings and it was fine) but uninstalled the program.I tried to install it again fairly recently and now it won't work.It's a shame really.I wish they'd make an updated version that works with XP as this is a great learning tool for kids.I was barely finishing grade school when I got this game and it really strengthened my knowledge of Geography.

Very Fun Game!
This game is very fun!I remember playing the original Oregon Trail game and it was fun as well but when Oregon Trail 2 came out, I had to have it!I could easily play this game for hours!It is pretty cool because the graphics are way better than what the original game was and there is way more products that you can purchase for your trip.Also, I love the way that they show a video of someone talking to you or when you go to a major point on your trip it'll show a video talking about that as well.This game is truly awesome and should be compatible with any computer built in the past 5 years.

Fun and Educational Game
While I've only played Oregon Trail 1, 2, and 4 in my youth, I can easily say 2 was the best of the series. Oregon Trail puts the player in the 1800's during times when people hoped for a more properous life out West. The history of Oregon Trail is very interesting and this game does a good job of showcasing many elements of that era into the game.

danm it suck . after reading tons of review from amazon i thought buying this oregon trail 2 game would be a lot of fun . well i just play it and it suck . if you played the classic. there are feature like fishing. resting , talking to people. trading with them you can chose the items you want. this version 2 don't like you do any of it. no fishing, and funny thing is they sell fishing pole what is the pole of it , if the game don't let you fish. they have more towns and store. one point the classing lack, still , no gathering vegetable and fruit in this version two, the computer automatically do it for you . if the classic is 100 points , this is like 30 points. and it version too. ohh please. i too upset right now with this software maker, it like those guy got lazy or lazier . ... Achieve! Math and Science Grades 3-6
My kids really love the game style of learning.

Good theme, low quality software
The goal behind this software is great. We bought this to give our computer savvy child some practice on writing and language art. The software is not of good quality. It has hard to use user interface. Especially compared to other educational software, this lacks the finish. My son soon got bored and has never used this.

Our kids favorite software -- my favorite too
We purchased Achieve Math and Science grades 1-3 for my two children, 5 and 6 years old. We purchased Reader Rabbit 1st grade at the same time. My children choose to use the Achieve software -- Reader Rabbit is almost untouched.Read more

One of my tasks as a parent is to try to instill the type of curiosity in my children that will never be slaked.History, with its awful text books and unavoidable complexity, is one of the toughest subjects for the young.This cd-Rom offers a wonderful way for a child to begin what could become a life-long love:in it, they are able to travel to 8 periods of history, with worlds that they can explore in a way of their choosing.While there is some reading and narration, most of the presentation here is visual and visceral, i.e. you click on things and do them.I think this is fabulous - a picture is worth 1000 words in this case. The History Explorer is a great way to slip a little learning into your child's play time. My 8-yr-old daughter sits and plays this CD for long periods of time, and comes away with new history facts each time. Great game but can be a little challanging
This game is great! you get to go over music, geography and more! This game even features different troggles then ever. For example: Slimy replaces Zubb the grum from word munchers. I bought Discovering Egypt because the box looked interesting.Unfortunately, I found out after installing it on my system that it is NOT compatible with Windows XP.Their web site even says this (which I read after-the-fact).No update is planned by them.Please be aware of that.

Not intended for anyone over age 12!
The cd set will be quite acceptable to those who know nothing of Ancient Egypt, it's culture, history or religion.However, anyone who has even a limited knowledge of Ancient Egypt will find this set dissapointing.The serious minded seeker will not find any in-depth description or commentary about that which they seek. My 5 year old grandson and 50 year old husband both loved this! We purchased this to entertain my grandson during a 2 week visit and were morethan pleasantly surprised.This is more than a game - it is a learningexperience and will grow with you.The whole family enjoyed it!

History Explorer IS Amazing!
My five-year-old has been captivated by the History Explorer program for several months. The program offers the user transport to one of several different historical time periods in different regions of the world.Eachperiod offers an appropriate and pleasant musical background while the userclicks on various icons in the setting to find out what each represents. Myson has spent hours clicking to hear an explanation of knights jousting inthe Medieval Europe, bodies being mummified in Ancient Egypt, or the GreatWall being built in Ancient China. Once he had a good grasp of eachsetting, he decided to try to "Find the Professor" by clickingaround in each time period until he found the secret path. The game helpedhim move through the periods more quickly, giving him a sense of thepassage of time, but it was certainly nice for him to opt NOT to play thegame initially, allowing complete exploration of each time period.Read more

Watch Out!
This software really scrambled my computer.Had to reinstall numerous programs.It created 77 errors in the Registry.I haven't had this much trouble in years.I even created a restore point before installing, but that didn't help

I purchased this software on the advice of a lawyer who used this in his preparation for the GRE. I completed the first Pre-Algerbra disc and although some of the lessons used a convoluted approach in explaining a procedure, I thought it was fine.However, the second disc, entitled Algebra I, would not come up on my computer.I took the disc to my work and had our computer people look at it.The software would not come up on the office computers.

Great Historical Background's in Fictional Settings
My daughter is 10 years old and is completely enamoured with the Dear America series. She not only wants to read every book available, she also plays the Friend to Friend CD every day! It enhances her knowledge of history and keeps her reading. The Dear America CDrom
This game is really fun. You get to read the diaries of 6 girls: Margaret Ann Brady, Remember Patience Whipple,Abigail Jane Stewart, Hattie Campbell, Zipporah Feldman and Clotee, You can give them advice: Maybe even change their lives! You can look for their belongings to learn the history of each, You can keep a password-locked diary AND you can take cool quizes. I do reccomend this CD!

You'll want your money back after you play it.
The game is okay, because you get to interact with Dear America characters. But After you interact with the girls, the story is finished. And after I interacted with all 6 girls, the game didn't have much left to do. All you could do was do some quizzes (which repeat themselves until you've played every single quiz) and a diary that you could write in. Read more
