5-0 out of 5 stars Final Draft 7 does the job.
When I wrote my incredible screenplay on Final Draft 7 I was amazed. My first screenplay was done on Word and took forever to format. The only problem is that my screenplay sits and waits for representation--it's an awe-inspiring story and I can be reached at wlux22 at aol dot com.
5-0 out of 5 stars A Beginner's Thoughts.
Even though I have done a lot of writing in my life, I had never written a complete screenplay.I've had lots of ideas, but had never written them down.I finally decided to get some of these ideas out on paper.I knew from talking with friends who already work in the industry that script readers are very particular when it comes to the format of a screenplay and that one formatting error can cause someone to throw away an otherwise wonderful script.I considered other screenwriting software, but after speaking with my industry insider friends and doing other research I felt that FINAL DRAFT was the best software to get.I've been using FINAL DRAFT 7 for awhile now and have not had any problems with it.For writing screenplays, I love this software.I have not had any trouble with the software not loading and I've not lost anything I've ever written (though I tend to save a lot of my work frequently anyway).I've read most of the other reviews about FINAL DRAFT 7 on Amazon and it seems that people either really like the software or they hate it.I fall into the former category and have found it quite useful. For a beginning screenwriter, it works wonderfully. The only downside I have with the software is that it is quite expensive. As an educator, I was able to get a discount. FINAL DRAFT offers a discount for students, educators, and military personnel, but if you're not able to get that discount then the software is about double the cost that it should be.

4-0 out of 5 stars What a transformation!
Reformatted previously written scripts. The script was transformed to a professional looking one.I was going to rate this a 5 but reformatting is a slow process but well worth it!I have still a lot to learn! Loved it immediately. ... Read more

44 YEARS OF FANTASTIC FOUR compresses decades of comic books (20,000 pages according to the box, and I'm not counting them to argue) onto one DVD-Rom.
5-0 out of 5 stars 44 Fantastic Four years for 40 bucks? For cool!
Now you can keep the originals in the bag in the vault!

4-0 out of 5 stars Hopefully the start of something big
This set (and the already-released X-Men and Avengers sets) are hopefully the start of something big in comic collecting. I'd love to see this done by DC and other publishers, and definitely want more of these from Marvel (upcoming sets include Amazing Spider-Man, Mad Magazine, and Ultimate X-Men, and sets for the Hulk, Daredevil, and Captain America were hinted at as well). This is a great way to get an entire run on a comic book title (including ads, letter pages, etc.) without tracking down and paying a fortune for the original back issues.

Editorial Review

Writing scripts for film, television, and theater is usually a time-consuming task. There are many elements in a script (i.e. scene headings, character names, dialogue, scene breaks, etc.) that must be correctly placed in your script. Following these conventions is essential in making sure your script is receiving proper attention from agents, producers, and contest judges. Screenwriter works by your side, automatically formatting action, character name, dialogue, and other elements as you write your script. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good for what I Need
This all started when I began writing a screenplay on spec. I setup my Word program with as much of the Hollywood standard format as I could, but I started having problems with certain elements (e.g., parentheticals within dialog, CONT'd's at the end of pages). So I picked MMS because it seemed to be the most powerful at the lowest cost. I also liked that it had play and novel formats. It did a decent and fairly painless job of importing my screenplay from Word. Unfortunately, it turned many of my shot headings into character elements for dialog. I had to manually fix all these, but MMS made changing the type of element fairly easy.
4-0 out of 5 stars best of its kind, not as popular as it deserves to be.
I'll keep this short because I'm supposed to be writing!I used to use Final Draft for all my TV work (Wire In The Blood, Hornblower).I even recommended it to the BBC when they still used Word for screenplays. Then a friend and producer showed me Screenwriter and I have never looked back. It's far more intuitive than FD in so many ways, it makes it easier to just concentrate on the text. And technically Screenwriter is far more solid - I have never used a version of Final Draft that didn't have numerous really irritating bugs, which tech support could never seem to resolve despite endless patches.I haven't patched Screenwriter for years quite simply because I don't need to - it just works.I'm sorry I ever backed FD now, but it's almost the standard program in the UK.I often write my stuff in Screenwriter and import it into FD for submission.
5-0 out of 5 stars The best out there....
Of all the screenwriting / scriptwriting software out there today, this is by far the best one. Everything you need to get started is there and it's very user friendly. I had never used it before but was able to start writing within minutes of opening the box. I also recommend david Trottier's book The Screenwriter's Bible, as a companion for the software. I have found both to be invaluable. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Show business loves its archetypes. One chestnut that won't go away is the image of the feverish screenwriter, hunched over a word processor, ideas flying so thick and fast that the chore of punctuation would invite creative disaster. Hollywood Screenwriter is a script-writing program that promises to simplify the mundane stuff--like proper script formatting--so creative juices can flow freely.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Very good, reasonably priced product
OK, since we're corresponding here, I'll respond by saying I'm a professional filmmaker, and have actually used this software and bothered to figure out how to use it (all software involves a learning curve)
3-0 out of 5 stars An opinion on Hollywood Screenwriter
Briefly I would say that this product is worth the price, and it seems easy enough to follow the format.Although I have not needed any assistance at this time, an important part of using this product will be the technical support.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very serviceable
One must remember what this product is... This is the equivalent to the ultra low budget film (<$1M). This will get the job done -- the quality of the script remains in the writer not the format.

1-0 out of 5 stars not helpful at all ! - save your time and money for other resources!
Let's summarize my thoughts and opinion, which hopefully may assist you in making your choice:
5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT SCREENWRITING WORKSHOP!!!
This is an excellent workshop that is worth the money. If you take the time to review and do the lessons, you will get better at screenwriting.I disagree with the one reviewer who got nothing out of the DVD.There are exercises that may seem simple at first but in fact offer subtle yet significant learning experiences. And I'm sure if Syd really wanted to write a story that he believed in, he would. He loves teaching obviously.

The software installation is buggy. It try's to download the entire installation from the SnapStream web site, even though there is a installation disk included. If your web connection fails the installation trashes your system and you will need to reinstall Windows.I have Windows XP SP2 with a flakey internet connection. Although I am computer literate, after two attempts to install this product I have chucked the whole thing out the window. P.S. SnapStream has no tech service department to speak of!

3-0 out of 5 stars GREAT Remote, but beware - Beyond TV 4 is garbage
This is truly a great remote. It's comfortable, flexible, and easy to use.But I should warn you about the product it's designed to control, Beyond TV 4.THAT is total garbage!

4-0 out of 5 stars Beyond Media TV is Very Impressive!!
I have Tivo in the livingroom but I wanted something in the bedroom that would take the place of the flaky software that came with my ATI TV tuner card. Beyond Media and Beyond TV with the Firefly remote were just the ticket. I'm a PC Tech and I use my PC as a PC first and as a media center second, so this was the right way to go for me. I have lots of software, like Nero Recode and ATI's conversion software, to convert file types. That wasn't my main goal - I mean, I have 660 Gigs of hard drive space and don't need to compress my movies. I have all the codex installed to play almost any kind of video file and Beyond Media with the remote makes my little media center in the bedroom a great retreat. The added feature of CinemaNow and MovieLink right in the main interface was a huge plus. As an owner of Tivo, the Beyond TV interface was very familiar and worked just as well, with all the bells and whistles. I have been very satified. I think if you truly judge the software for what it is you will be very happy.

1-0 out of 5 stars Beyond TV 4 is garbage
Beyond TV 4 really stinks.I have Media Center 2005, and purchased and installed Beyond TV 4 to replace it.The primary goal was the stated ability to reencode TV programs to DivX, saving a great deal of disk space.

4-0 out of 5 stars HPQWC: Good, could be better.
I wasn't very enthusiastic about this game, but when I got it for my birthday, I thought "What the heck, I'll play." It was a wee bit more than I reckoned for. In previous Harry Potter quidditch matches, you can only play as the seeker and it take a very long time doing nothing for anything to happen. Not here. You can play as chasers, beaters (Sort of) and seekers. The teams are fun, but Hogwarts is a bit easy and World Cup can get dull after the tenth match. This game could be better. For instance, you could control your keeper when the chasers are coming, since 99% of the time the keeper doesn't get there in time. You could also play as a beater and hit the bludgers continously, instead of this weird throwing stuff. The crowds look rather 2D and the environments (Especially US & England) get REALLY dull after a while. It would be cool if you could customize your pitches, plays and teams and have the teams have names (In quidditch through the ages, it talks about all kinds of teams. The Moosejaw meteors, the Montrose magpies, the Chuldy cannons, where are they?). Oh yes, I forgot something. This game ROCKS! It's extremly addicting, the controls aren't impossible to manage and the commentary is rather funny. The music isn't John Williams, but it's decent enough and the challenges are fun. A very good game, but can get dull after about the five-hundreth round.

4-0 out of 5 stars It could be better but...
This game is much fun to play.I like how they:
5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing.
This game was amazing. Now, I have had little to no experience with the computer games of today, so I may be unexperienced with the standards of today, but this was quite possibly one of the best, if not the best, computer games I have ever played.

4-0 out of 5 stars Works Great
I have had BTV4 since Jan. 06 and it works great.Very good user interface.Easy to install and maintain.Picture quality is great.I have seen some bad reviews about this product by so called experienced users.I strongly disagree with their reviews. This product has great features and they work out of the box.Setting up recordings remotely is really cool.No monthly subscription fees is even better. With BTVLink I can watch TV on all of my networked computers without installing extra hardware.Firefly remote allows me to control my BTV computer from any room in the house. This is cool stuff!

1-0 out of 5 stars Keep Your Tivos
First off.I'm an advanced computer user. This software is a pain from start to finish. There are known problems where some recordings play twice the size of the television making it useless to watch them. The capture card you buy from their site give you an incredibly bad picture for analog cable users (Tivo looks 5x better). But worst of all, Beyond tv will try its hardest find some reason NOT to record the shows you tell it to record. For instance, one time it decided it no longer knew what directory to record the shows to.Other times it just didn't record stuff, and didn't give a reason. So basically you have to check up on it every day to make sure it is still working.what a dissapointment.

4-0 out of 5 stars Beware
I bought an earlier edition of this software and worked with it alot and was satisfied with the software itself. Unfortunately, the manual was apparently written by someone who had never used the software, and contacting the seller was totally wasted time; they refused to respond to any questions.I recently bought this new edition, hoping the problems had been solved over the past few years. No such luck. The manual is even worse than before, and the tutorial doesn't even come close to what is actually to be done on the software. If you can figure this out yourself, it is a good tool for screenwriting, otherwise, you are going to be terminally frustrated and chuck the thing into the river. Beware, expect NO help from the manual or from the manufacturer.

I purchased Virtual Springfield for my sons. The computer disc came promptly, sooner than expected. The disc worked one day.Since the one time that the children used this disc, it has not worked.I have tried it on 2 PCs, 3 MACs (it is supposed to be read both by PCs and MACs).I have taken it to work and tried it on my computer at work.We have tried it on the original computer where it worked the first time. The disc no longer works. It is not damaged in any way that I can discern. When I called the technical support number, it rings to a private residence. The answering machine states that it is not the technical support desk. This leads me to believe that I am not the only one who has had problems with this computer disc.Needless to say, my childen are immensely disappointed. Under no circumstances would I ever recommend that this item be purchased. If I could give it less than one star, I would.

1-0 out of 5 stars The beginning of what is known as the Simpsons Curse for me
While the curse began with "Cartoon Studio" for many Simpsons fans, it began with Virtual Springfield for me. Now, I'll began by saying that this is one of the worst designed game ever. The developers attempted to use the "Kids game" excuse, but they even fail at that.
1-0 out of 5 stars Barrels of Disappointment
There's no word to describe the disappointment I felt when I played this; there's not even a sesquipedalian, to my knowledge, that can aptly convey my chagrin. The Simpsons are such a wonderful thing and I thought I would get to partake in their fun, but instead I got to observe as they pass me in the street and rummage through their drawers while they're out. Yes, this was somewhat amusing, but overall a let down. There are mini games and some items to collect to access other areas, but that's as much activity as this game offers. The graphics are good, the voices are the same as the show's, and there are some nice things here, but the difference between what I expected and what I got is as big as Texas.

1-0 out of 5 stars Too bad you can't give zero stars
Wow... this program is pure crap. I mean, I'm shocked that a company can put out such a poor product and offer such terrible customer service (only online, don't you DARE try to call them on the number they SUPPLY in their users guide).

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointment
I am so disappointed with this software. It crashes and seems to be extremely sluggish.I expected much better from a product that costs so much.I need to be able to create scripts for my clients, so I don't know what I'm going to do.But I may have no choice at some point to buy something else.I've got to get my work done and not have to constantly be frustrated with the way the software stumbles along.

4-0 out of 5 stars Best Software for the Application, but needs work
It actually does what it promises to do.

1-0 out of 5 stars Quirky program made useless by copy protection
Buyer beware: Final Draft incorporates an archaic copy protection scheme that will drive you nuts. Every other category of computer software did away with this kind of user-unfriendly copy protection scheme in the mid-80s, but the screenwriting software vendors persist. You're probably better off using Microsoft Word (which is far more robust) and using a simple formatting utility when you're project is finished. If you have any hard drive crashes or hardware upgrades and you forget to de-install Final Draft you will lose your install keys.Tech support is scarce and the online help system is only good for the most basic information. While it should make your life simpler this product will make your life hell.Avoid it like the plague.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best investment I've made for writing.
I purchased Final Draft a couple of years ago, and it was the best investment for writing I've made yet. I had loads of story ideas in my head, but had no idea how to write a screenplay or teleplay, and didn't have the patience to read a book about it.5-0 out of 5 stars There's a reason the whole world uses it -- it's the best
Final Draft is simply the best there is.Screenwriter is buggy [I borrowed an install from a friend], Scriptware is a joke [based on the demo I tried] and Sophocles doesn't even run on my Mac.If you follow the directions it does exactly what it says it's going to do.It's a professional-grade tool [even though I'm not a professional-grade writer - YET], it's got 24/7 help [that I haven't even come close to needing] and everyone I know uses it [and I do work in the industry].As far as I can tell the people who have problems with it aren't using it right or they have crappy computers.Read more
