5-0 out of 5 stars One difference of note between OO and StarOffice
I suspect there are other minor differences not mentioned here or below, but I wanted to mention one difference for Japanese Speakers using OO or StarOffice.

Editorial Review

There are two major complaints concerning Linux distributions: the immaturity of the productivity software and the break with the familiar Microsoft Office products (and the files they've produced). Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars replaced RedHat with SUSE - not looking back!
I had been using RedHat 6.0 up through 7.3 on my laptop (first a ThinkPad 770X, then a Sony VAIO).However, the RH distribution just isn't well suited for a laptop install -- incomplete support of Sony-specific features such as the "jogdial" and FN-keys.1-0 out of 5 stars Think TWICE Before you purchase SuSE Office Desktop!!
Having researched Linux products for over a year, we decided to give SuSE Office Desktop a spin recently when one of MS's Windows "security updates" completely hosed our PC. Note that the Microsoft automated CRITICAL security download stated that all went fine and rebooted our PC into HELL ! Lost dial-up, scrambled app software, and a bunch of other crap... typical everyday experience with Windoze !!!Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Live CD looks pretty good
I downloaded the live CD and ran it on three different machines, all with good results. The defaults in Santa Fe Linux makes for an attractive desktop and most of the applications appear to be quite good and useful. However, unlike SimplyMEPIS the live CD is just that and it does not have an installation routine -- you have to purchase the full version.I was sufficiently impressed by what I saw that I am entertaining spending the money. That event is contingent upon the answers to a couple of questions that I have posed to Santa Fe Software about SMP for my dual-Athlon rig.Overall, this distribution looks promising to me, a Linux user for better than ten years.

3-0 out of 5 stars Something is wrong with last review
I was just on the site and you can download a Live CD, But I understand it cant install. So how were or why were you trying?
1-0 out of 5 stars Suggest Other Distributions
The main "reason" that you are supposed to want Santa Fe Linux over other distributions is that it is supposed to "just work". On three different machines, I was unable to get the product to even install. On the fourth I could get it to install, but it didn't work with my printer or my wireless network card.
