1-0 out of 5 stars WARNING!!!DO NOT BUY
As aDigital Photographer and a MAC user, I found iPhoto crashes when you try to IMPORT any DIGITAL (only)l pictures from Adobe Photosop CS & Adobe Elemebts 2. I can downlaod my pictures to iPhoto from my Digital camera (D70), export them to my pictures folder, adjust the pictures using either above mentioned software, but cannot Import any of them. Go to MacRumors, you'll see that you're not alone.Hey APPLE?? When are you going to fix this????

4-0 out of 5 stars iPhoto 6
I purchased iLife specifically for iPhoto 6. I haven't looked at the other programs on this DVD. I find iPhoto 6 to be very helpful in downloading, managing, and editing digital photos

This software package makes desktop publishing and presentations a snap!I am continually amazed by the software available for the Mac.I don't understand how anyone can prefer a PC.This software package is the perfect example of simplicity and power.I threw together a family newsletter in about 20 minutes shortly after installing the software on my machine. All my relatives think I had the newsletter done professionally!iWork is simply amazing!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great replacement for Microsoft Word, for most purposes
I was stunned when I started using Pages v2... because I'd been convinced that Apple would never get a word processor right. AppleWorks pretty much sucked (tedious interface, limited capabilities, never fully updated for Mac OS X). TextEdit is nothing more than a rough draft of an application.

1-0 out of 5 stars Ordered wrong item
I wanted to order the latest Mac version of iLife. Upon receiving your Email solicitation, I automaticaqlly selected the first iLife item that appeared on Amazon's page. Unfortunately, it was for iLife '05, rather than iLife '06.Since I already had iLife'05, I had to send it back and reorder iLife '06. To Amazon, I recommend you feature the latest version of the product and list the discounted older version thereafter. To us Buyers, i've learned to be more aware and detailed in my ordering. It saves everyone a lot of pain and suffering.

iLife 06 is a worthy upgrade. With iWeb, I was able to generate a completely new site from scratch very easily. The upgrades to iPhoto, iMovie, and iDVD were also welcome, with both speed and feature improvement.

3-0 out of 5 stars Enahnced features, new apps, so what.
I've been a Mac advocate since I switched from Windows to Mac in 2003 and may even consider myself a Mac biggot howeveer, I'm not that impressed with iLife 06 as I'm not really gaining any noticable functionality, features. The new program iWeb is a concept thats been done successfully by two others, Sandvox and RapidWeaver. In either case, their functionality and features far outweigh that of iWeb and give me no reason what so ever to use iWeb.I am a .Mac subscriber and am even thinking that's becomming a waste of my money as I'm not that impressed with their email system but thats another story.

5-0 out of 5 stars Premiere Pro 2.0
Whilst Adobe are touting a range of upgrades in 2.0 the only one I needed was the mulicam facility. Now editing any shot with multiple cameras (up to 4) recording simiultaneously is fantastic. If you previously used a Panasonic MX12 or AVE5 (or similar) then this is a total joy. Selecting the live camera is as easy as pressing 1 to 4 and after you've made your camera selections you can easily go back and move the edit points etc.

5-0 out of 5 stars A move in the right direction
I'm a big fan of iWork and have always looked for new office apps that out-perform Microsoft's apps which have become so feature-rich that functionality has become akward.I love Pages and the formatting features it provides.I do more layout work than word processing so I'm real happy with the way Pages works for me.Keynote is nice too.I don't believe in lots of slide transitions and builds when making a presentation so a lot of the flash and panash that PowerPoint tries to interject is useless to me.You have lots of capability with Keynote but its clean, simple interface and robust formatting and import capabilities really works for me.
4-0 out of 5 stars iWork 06 is Powerful but Limited
Apple's iWork software presents two applications:Pages and Keynote which is Apple's answer to Microsoft's Publisher and Power Point. As someone who has used both, I can honestly say that iWork blows Publisher and Power Point clean out of the water.Keynote has some added features such as 3D graphs and the capaibility to add numbers in charts (like a very limited spread sheet) added in this version. You can make truly professional looking mind blowing presentations with Keynote that will make any presentation look like a multimedia jewel.Pages allows you to do desktop publishing and print media with the finesse and end results of professional looking print catalogs and brochures. Both applications are well designed and, just like all of the iLife apps, feature the classic Apple interface whereby all of your media content is available and intermeshed into the work flow.Thereis not really any new earth shattering features in 06 from the 05 version, but mainly just tweaks and enhancements.
4-0 out of 5 stars Good, but still not perfect
Well its definetly improved version since the last one, but they still have a lot of things to do.The biggest problem is Pages. If text has specific symbols, like Greek letters and u try to export your file to doc, forget it.u'll have the same problem as 10 yrs ago, either funky symbols or underline dashes.Keynote is much better. But if u r a scientist and not a sales man, both packages still have a lot of room for improvement. However, I'm still happy with this purchase, because it's Apple soft and looks much nicer than any MS software will get in the future. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Best Painting Software ever
I have been using this since version 7 (Procreate Painter 7). It does have quite a steep learning curve and it took me quite a while to get used to it. Once you learn how to get around the program is wonderful. I use it mainly to turn photographs into paintings and once I got the hang of it I have been able to create some pretty stunning stuff from a photograph. Most of the cloner brushes make the photograph painting look fake so I stay away from those and rather use the artist's oils and acrylics. The watercolour is great when painting a sketch. 2-0 out of 5 stars Corel really stuck it to the Mac community when it bought Painter
No amount of wiz-bang makes up for the instability that Corel "engineered" into Painter when it tried to make it more Photoshop like. IMHO, Painter was best when it still beloned to its creators, Fractal Design. It was revolutionary, it was inexpensive, it was rock-solid, and it was for Mac only. Corel has definitely given Painter a Windows feeling: bloated, unstable, and unfriendly. You'd think that a company that owns the licensing rights to the most widely used natural media paint app could put out bug fixes more than once every two years -- or at least one very much needed feature, most widely found in Microsoft applications -- autosave. I'm tired of waiting for Corel to make Painter usable, and have noticed other natural media applications coming out. Check out ArtRage. It doesn't do everything Painter does, but it has a good basic set of tools, it's interface is modern, it doesn't crash, AND IT'S FREE!

2-0 out of 5 stars HDV Capture Should Not Be on the Feature List
I own an HDV camcorder.I want to edit in HDV and I've used Premiere Pro 1.5 to do it, however the two-step import process (including a potentially lossy conversion) frustrated me.
5-0 out of 5 stars Premiere 2.0 continues the steps into the Real world of editing
I dont know what the rest of you all are talking about - but this is a great product. Ive been with Premiere since version 5.0 - and 1.5 was the Big leap to real editing - and 2.0 is a fantastic continuation of that improvement. I think alot of hte people complaining about the jerky/unstable situations probably dont have a newish computer to match the advanced features of 2.0. Im running this on a P4 2.8ghz, 1.5gig ram, fast harddrive system wtih XPSP2, and it runs AWESOME - it totally keeps up with everythign i throw at it. Im sure if i had a Dualcore it would even be quicker. Im impressed with how fast the exporting to AVI files are and its only crashed on me maybe ONCE since ive been using it (over 3 monthes). MAJOR upgrades are multi-cam editing, HDV capability, Flash movie export, direct dvd creation (though i havnt used that yet) and adobe clip notes which is a Huge timesaver. Also the interface is Much better in my opinion, just takes a little while to get used to. I just completed a major, high pressure edit job and P2.0 kept up with me all the way - and even surprised me with features i didnt know it had. Main advise, be sure you have a Decent system and be willing to learn abit of a different interface, it doesnt take long to learn the differences, and eventually (at least for me) they end up being better. I think the $199 upgrade from 1.5 is a Very fair price, and if i had to buy the whole $800 version, and didnt Have any editing software id do it in a flash.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Program
I upgraded from Premiere 6.5 and it was woth every penny.I can not say enough good things about Premiere Pro 2.0.The quality of the DVD's it produces is of much higher quality than Premiere 6.5 and Pro 2.0 is very easy to work with. The scene detection option during capture was worth the upgrade in itself.DVD menu's are easy to create and produce outstanding professional results.

3-0 out of 5 stars Collects a bunch of freeware fonts.
MacFonts basically collects a bunch of freeware fonts on CD and gives you a printed guide. There is also a PDF guide on the CD that you can grab. The software covers the same ground as FontBook, so I didn't explore it much. The CD has a wide variety of fonts, but they're mostly the same ones that you can pull off free font websites. All of them loaded without a glitch. The majority are display fonts, but it also has a handful of serif and sans serif fonts, scripts, dingbats and a bunch of black letter and unical fonts. Nothing on this disk is as well-crafted or fussed over as the fonts you can buy from a type house. However, for less than the price of most professional fonts, MacFonts gives you an instant collection of more fonts than you'll actually use.

5-0 out of 5 stars NEAT AND GOOD PRICE
SUPER EASY TO "INSTALL" AND USE. THE BOOKLET OF FONT SAMPLES IS GREAT. THE VARIETY IS GOOD. I GIVE IT AN "A".

4-0 out of 5 stars Mac Fonts
Was pretty excited when I saw the fonts package. The box said "Over 1000 TrueType fonts" I figured that it meant just subtle variations of the same. While this was true for the majority of the fonts, the "BN" set of fonts had the most variety. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Stable and pretty? Yes. Worth the upgrade from 10.3? Arguably, no.
If you're reading this review, odds are you own a Mac a little over 1.5 years old (with 10.3 preinstalled) and are considering the Tiger update. Even more so at its nowdiscounted price (with a new OS looming on the horizon). Is it worth the price and effort to take the plunge? Unless you're a cutting-edge user running a G5 system, probably not.
1-0 out of 5 stars If I could put negative 1 trillionstars I would
There is no question. This is probably the worst operating system to ever come out into the computer industry. Basically, its a piece... Well, you know what I mean. I promise you, there is a VERY GOOD REASON WHY WINDOWS IS THE MOST POPULAR OS IN THE WORLD. Most of what this OS has is stolen from other OS's, even things like widgets (on the dashboard), minimizing windows (from Microsoft Windows), the very NAME "Windows" (used to describe open applications on the desktop), maximizing windows, virtually everything on it is copied from other OS's, and there is a reason why Apple did this. Their OS is terrible, and they needed to steal from other companies in order to make theirs popular, which even now isn't as popular as Windows, which it stole primarily from. The reason I am writing this review isn't just to trash something on the net, its to help others not fall into the trap that Apple makes out of its OS. Sure, alot of proffesional people use it, but that's because they only need to do one thing, and Apple can do that, but nothing else. If you need to do anything other than browse the web (Apple can't even do that very well, with Safari), then get Windows.

5-0 out of 5 stars Buying a Mac? Learn about OSx86 and VMware.
Apple announced that Intel core duo processors will be used in the new range of Macs. Hardware developers and programmers and just about everyone else ask what is stopping OSX from running on a non-apple computer with Intel processors... turns out that there was not much except for some code in the OSX software. Then somebody changes the code in the fall of 2005. Now everyone who wants to see and use OSX before they buy gets VMware, obtains a copy of OSx86 and boots the latest Mac OS on Windows or Linux. This is not dual booting. VMware is virtualization software. Modern hardware is fast enough to run other Operating Systems at 75% or above speed at the same time. Seeing OSX running on Windows or Linux will have eyes open wide in the room around you. For Mac users who have shelled out their hard earned cash on a Mac, seeing this reaches down into the very depth of the soul. Apple announces a new boot camp that allows Macs to dual boot Windows, but not virtualize it. Back in the 80s - 90s there was good reason to own Mac hardware. In the 21st century all hardware companies are mostly using third world sources to build their components. So in terms of Mac hardware versus clone PCs, there is not much difference anymore. OSx86 booting on a non-apple computer is the biggest event in the history of Apple Macintosh. It will make you think.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great if you don't need DVD authoring
All the applications in the suite are fantastic with one exception: EncoreDVD. This piece of software is full of bugs and inexplicable system errors. I have never been able to complete one project. Every time, my project gets corrupted for no reason and then need to be rebuilt from scratch. If you don't believe me, please visit the Adobe User Forum and read through all the messages from users crying for help with program and system errors. If you plan on authoring DVDs, you will probably have to do like me: buy another application such as DVDit.

1-0 out of 5 stars 0 for licensing and tech support
Beware of Adobe's licensing. The studio comes with one serial number for all the included software, which means that you cannot use its individual components as standalone products. So if you want to install Photoshop and Illustrator on one desktop, and Premiere and After Effects on another, you are out of luck.
5-0 out of 5 stars This program or should I say this group of programs is so cool. It's a must buy!

4-0 out of 5 stars Workflow Management . . . Not a Photoshop Replacement . . .
Aperture does not, nor did Apple advertise it to, be a replacement for Photoshop!Photoshop is the Emporor God of Pixel-oriented image editors (with a bit of object-oriented graphics thrown in).Giving the program a negative review for it not replacing Photoshop makes about as much sense as giving it a negative review for it not being a sports car! That being said, as a photographer, I end up opening all of my Canon Mark II ds17 megabyte files in Photoshop to do minor tweeks and adjustments. You have to look at the whole, full resolution file in order to pick your good shots. So when deciding whether this is a good product (or for understanding the rather bizarre negative reviews that really miss the point) try opening 250 files from a photoshoot to do your first or second pass review using Photoshop and Adobe Camera Raw . . . Not only does it take many hours, it takes hours of hands-on time. There is not a way to do this as batch processing because you have to make some minor decisions on how to open the files and it leaves 250 45 megabyte (or so) Photoshop files open at once.(Opening into Photoshop roughly triples the file size or so.)
3-0 out of 5 stars Good fast organizer, weak on editing, overpriced
I have been using Apple Aperture for a little bit, now -- still getting used to the interface and learning about it. It is installed on my PowerBook G4 with 17" screen, 2 Gb memory.
1-0 out of 5 stars Extremely disappointing
Aperture is a product with tremendous potential, but its current form disappoints on almost every level.

4-0 out of 5 stars Just as good as FC HD and better than iMovie
I've actually downgraded from Final Cut HD because when I bought that software it didn't work with my computer and then Apple couldn't fix so I was out $300. I needed to buy another software package but didn't want to spend another $300 so I went with FC Express. Because I'm a student it only cost me $99. To tell you the truth it's not that much different than the full version of FC. Most people that use FC are doing features which I'm not doing, and other people use it for the title generator and sound editing. I have other softwares for that.
5-0 out of 5 stars TOTALLY loving it (but am prepared for learning curve).
I had read a lot of reviews (here and elsewhere) warning of Final Cut's massive learning curve, and I do believe that helped soften the blow when I first tried this program. Because there definitely is a learning curve--this is far more complex than iMovie. But, the good news is, it's not beyond the newbie's reach!
5-0 out of 5 stars Can't live without Final Cut Express HD
Final Cut Express HD is awesome. But don't try to learn how to use FCE on your own - buy a book such as Final Cut Express for Dummies and spend some time working through the concepts. I had previously used Adobe Premiere, so making the switch to FCE was not quite the hurdle that is going to be for others. If you make the jump from iMovie, do realize you will need to spend a lot of time learning how to use FCE.

5-0 out of 5 stars Every Mac is an Island
My gal Sara bought this because she's been a Mac person forever (I'm a former Window's person, who's made the switch) and has been used to using ResEdit to design her own icons under System 7 through 9. So now she's at it again, changing, rearranging and creating icons and I have to say, it's infectious. Who says the boys in Cupertino have to have the last say on what your desktop is going to look like. Want Microsoft Word to appear as a devil on the screen. You got it. You also get a thousand free icons with the program to start. Good ones. Macs have always been unique, now they are more so. Thumbs up from me for CandyBar Plus.

5-0 out of 5 stars Worthwhile upgrade; make sure you haven't outgrown it
This is a worthwhile upgrade, especially for owners of FCE 1.x...there is not that much new here for users who own FCE 2.x, except for the HD video capabilities. I have started wondering whether I'm ready to use the features found in the "Pro" version -- and a little annoyed that some of the features in Express seem to be crippled merely to distinguish between FCE and FCPro. (A good example is being able to save a custom column layout in the Browser -- you can do it in Pro, and USED to be able to do it in FCE, but not any more!) I also want exportable/importable Edit Decision Lists (EDLs); most of the third party apps that work with Final Cut depend on reading and writing these XML-based lists to do their job. The best you can do with FCE and a third party logging product is produce a printed or on-screen EDL from the third-party product that you then use as a guide in FCE for editing. BUT, those are quibbles, and to be expected from a stripped-down version of a high end product. Overall, FCE delivers the goods, and provides a degree of control over projects that will be a revelation to iMovie owners patient enough to follow the learning curve.

5-0 out of 5 stars A valuable upgrade to FCE2
FCE/HD bringing Soundtrack and LiveType to the hobbyist is one of the more generous steps Apple has taken since they brought us FCE1. This is a very big and very useful addition to FCE allowing us to sync audio/music and titles much cleaner to our videos than we could before.

2-0 out of 5 stars No customer service from seller
Hello all Final Cut Pro enthusiasts. I ordered the product from this seller and haven't recieved any customer support regarding some specific questions, no phone calls, no returned emails. After paying for the product with credit card, some simple follow up wouldn't be to much to ask when a customer/potential customer is contemplating a purchase (or has recently puchased the item).
