5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful computer animation and fun story
Kids don't usually learn much science (in public school anyway) and this computer game REALLY helps to fill that void. It is educational, VERY attractively designed, interesting, and my [...] daughter really enjoys it! It's not too hard either.

5-0 out of 5 stars A good blend of storytelling and fun
We got "Math Blaster" for our six-year-old, who has been a very savvy computer user since he was 18 months old.It was so difficult to maneuver the character (jump over wrong answers, run through correct ones) he actually cried over it.
5-0 out of 5 stars My 5 year old adores this game!
My 5 year old son love the Mia character and the stories. He loves the math(which does involve time), too! Even though the age group for this game is 6-10, he had no problems on Level 1. He only needed a little help with the time telling. As for the people that say this isn't educational enough I would say that it's not boring! My son has played the game over and over and never tires of Mia! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Alphabet Express PreSchool
Alphabet Express is a wonderful learning tool for preschool children. My grandsons, ages 3.5 and 5, love it and are capable of using it without any help. They especially love the coloring.

1-0 out of 5 stars did not work at all
Will not start up at all on any of my 5 home computers or any of the 34 lab computers that I run. Not the first time I have had problems with this manufacturer.

4-0 out of 5 stars Still a little tough but fun
I bought this for my 3.5 year old and he still has trouble recognizing his letters (hence, the purchase). He enjoys the mazes and with help really likes the game, but he does need quite a bit of help to be able to play.We have not explored all the aspects of it yet (there is quite a bit to do), so I think that it is well worth the money.I have to push him to play this however - it is not his favorite.... ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Graphics are excellent but game sucks.
The creators of Mia's Reading Adventure would be better engaged creating movies and not children's games. There is just way too much expository and not enough interaction to make this worth your child's effort. If you're looking to teach your pre-k/k child reading skills I'd recommend the Blue's Clues games instead. Any older children would probably get as frustrated as mine did.

3-0 out of 5 stars Content is ok but without state saving
I bought this CD for my 5 years daughter. She likes it but it is quite hard for her to progress. Everytime you need to spend a few minutes to listen to the sing without a way to get rid of it. There is no state save function in the game, every time you need to start from the begin.

3-0 out of 5 stars useful as a game, but not to learn to read or help with the process
I thought this game would be useful to help my daughter start with the reading process, but that is not the case. As a game it's pretty entertaining, and it has very subtle clues that makes children have to think and look farther beyond.I would place the correct ages for this game between 6 and a half and eight and a half years old.

5-0 out of 5 stars Trick your kids into learning
This game was purchased for a young girl aged 4 years 8 mo.She had very little computer experience, and a little phonic work in Pre-K.This game was right up her alley. Some of the tasks were easy, giving her a sense of mastery, but the difficulty level increases nice and slow and she didn't even realize. They mix in fun non-learning activities as a reward (decorating the float). As a result, her reading skills have significantly improved in the past month and so have her computer mousing skills.Haven't found a good typing game for a 4 year old yet, that's next.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Learning Game
This game is awesome and teaches kids phonics, letter recognition, matching, numbers, and they don't even know they are learning becuase they are having fun. They complete tasks and get fun prizes that boost self confidence. It helps kids navigate on the computer and gets them comfortable with a mouse.

5-0 out of 5 stars My daughter loves this software game!
My daughter just turned 3 years old in October and she loves this game. It's very educational and fun at the same time. She was able to navigate through the carnival games right from the start so it's very user friendly. While she's known all her capital letters and the sounds each letter makes for some time now, she's learning to recognize the lower case letters and to spell 3 and 4 letter words from using this game. She's only had it for a few days but I can already see she's learning a lot from playing with it.I highly recommend this one for it's educational value. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars love it!
i have two kids ages 6 and 4 and we have had this game for over 4 years. we love it! we have had numerous other computer games but this one is right up there in our top two. my 4 year old still loves all the games (bubble castle and baby basket bingo are favs), and my 6 year old is still into the alphabet train. i love making music, the little ducks are my favorite! adorable sights and sounds in this game. beware though, the tunes from this are going to get stuck in your head for days, but are cute so it's worth it.:)

5-0 out of 5 stars From a Grandmother's point of view
This program is totally interactive. My grandson -- who is two and a half and has a two and a half year old's attention span spent 25 to 30 minutes at a time playing with the shapes and bubble castle.A wonderful experience

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Wonderful
My grandson just turned 3.He loves this CD.It is easy for him to use because he doesn't need to click the mouse. It is still difficult for him to hold the mouse steady when he clicks. If the mouse moves, he doesn't get a response and then gets very frustrated. This CD eliminates that problem. The activities are great fun for him.He likes the coloring and the "bubble castle" best.I highly recommend this CD. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good product
This product is pretty good.My little boy is 5 and is just really wanting to learn Spanish so I bought this product to help him.The animation is spectacular but he got bored with it very quickly.

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy to Play, Easy to Load, Easy to Love!
This game is great! After buying Mia Reading I thought it was a great idea to get my 2 girls to start learning Spanish since we live in a global village. They game was easy to load, easy to navigate and the level was perfect for beginners. The high quality 3D animation will blow you away. Even my husband who learned 3D animation at the Vancouver Film School was blown away. The best part is, that they love playing it as they think it is a game. They forget they're learning numbers and vocab and how to put together simple sentences. Well recommended. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Preschool Computer Lab Teacher = Thumbs Up!
I have taught preschool computer lab for two years and have successfully used this software with my 1, 2 & 3 year old students during both school years.I love this software because no mouse clicks are required - only moving the mouse which greatly increases my students hand-eye coordination with the mouse.
5-0 out of 5 stars Easy for kids to do and FUN
Reader Rabbit Toddler is the best software I have bought so far - its easy for my son to use (if kids cannot use the mouse yet most games work just by hitting keys) and has alot of fun activities. From the main menu you move a "Star flower" to one of nine fun activities - includingan alphabet train where you match the letter key to the boxcar to see it open;a musical meadow where you move a bee from flower to flower to hear them play;a bubble castle where you pop bubbles to free the animals - it has a variety of fun activities that my son has loved from 18 months to 3+.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great fun but a bit buggy
This program is a lot of fun and has a variety of activities to delight little ones.Because the activities can all be done just by moving the mouse or trackball (without pressing buttons), even a very beginning mouser can manage it.Pressing (or pounding on) keys also causes things to happen on the screen, so even without using the mouse your child can have a great time if you are brave enough to let him or her pound on your keyboard (not necessarily recommended - my daughter made off with my Z last week!)Many of the toddler activities are simple enough to do that a younger child can enjoy them too (but they still have learning potential for the toddler). My only complaint is that the program seems a bit buggy. It periodically locks up my computer so I have to reboot, which is very frustrating for my daughter.Overall it's a lot of fun.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Two winners in one package!
We purchased this for my 6-year-old when she was in kindergarten. Now she's in first grade and reading at a third-grade level.Pooh can bear a small part of the credit for that, as this bright, fun, joyous pair of CDs contains lots of good letter and word identification games that have helped her go from "I like Mommy and Daddy to read to me" to "Let me read to Mommy and Daddy."The math CD is just as much fun, but of course the game is numbers, not letters and words. These programs are perfectly on-target with the characters and with the teaching methods, and hey, everybody loves Pooh and his friends.Excellent package.

5-0 out of 5 stars Repurchasing because I loaned it out!
I am a home childcare provider and was a teacher and all the children have loved these. The reading one has helped all my children with letter identification and sounds and the math is excellent as well for counting, one to one correspondence and more.I believe in it so much, I am buying it for my second child to use. These are the best of the Pooh learning games if you ask me!

5-0 out of 5 stars The 3 kids love it!
We have three children ages 3, 3, and 5.All of them love it and I even enjoy taking a turn or two :).The games teachexcellent skills for school and stress math and reading in a fun and interesting way.The kids love earning items to be put in their garden and contraptions to be added to their treehouse. We have to set the timer so everyone gets a turn.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Software Tool
I really like this software. My son is using it and I can see the improvement already. He is in kindergarten and he can read through sight words but not phonetically. This program really helps with phonetic sounds.I would recommend it especially for the price you pay.

4-0 out of 5 stars Quite good.
This CDrom is quite good and I would have given it 5 stars if my toddler had been thrilled with it... which he wasn't.He was mildly interested.Perhaps at almost 3 years of age he is too young. On the other hand, as a teacher I was very impressed with this CDrom. It is very thorough and I have no doubt that if a child were to proceed through the games, winning stars for each level, their skills would be dramatically improved. It seemed entertaining to me, but I'm 43 - not the suggested 4 - 8 years old.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great product loads of fun!
I bought this for my two boys ages 4 and 6.They can't sit still but do for this phonics software. They love the learning games and don't realize they are really learning.I purchased this to help them with their speech, one is severly delayed and the other not so much. The words and pronounciation are very very clear and easily understood.Simple directions and easy to follow.Starts off easy but gets harder for my older child.Best of all they are learning to read and practicing speech. Also has sight words game great for school age children and early readers. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Arthur and DW are a hit at my house
My seven year old boy enjoys this CD.It has 2 basic tracks, one, you can "play within the story," clicking on parts of the story and see short cause/effect/noises unfold. The "play within the story" is entertaining and a nice break from reading or getting frustrated. The other part to this CD is an actual read along. The read along is nice because as each word is read by a computer voice, it is highlighted. The reading level is simple and read at a slower pace for learning kids.I'm very happy with this CD and think it's a great beginner reader CD or struggling reader CD.I'd buy it again.

The teacher says yes!Well, I grew up with Schoolhouse Rock.I sing most of the songs to myself when teaching these areas of language arts.My students tend to play the videos (of the originals as played on TV) over and over as they play the language arts games. From the conductor in Conjunction Junction to the boy in Lolly Lolly Get Your Adverbs Here, they all show up.Schoolhouse Rocky shows you the way as you learn, laugh and sing along. Also: look for Math Rock, which is just as good!!4-0 out of 5 stars It STILL Rocks!
I totally loved the between cartoons cartoons that inadverdently taught me about history, grammar, and political process. They STILL rock, only our techie-kids can get even more from the CD Roms. 5-0 out of 5 stars Hours of fun and laughter
We got this for our daughter who was 7 at the time, and she chose to play Reader Rabbit over playing Playstation or Nintendo 64 games. The friendly characters are so encouraging and so cute that my daughter walks away when done playing with a smile on her face and a really good attitude. That doesn't happen when playing other video games.

4-0 out of 5 stars An enjoyable game (the first time)
My daughter rushed to complete all of the tasks needed tostart the show.It took a period of a few weeks playing an hour at a time. She was very persistent and enjoyed creating the signs that pop up throughout the scenery. The costume-matic (which forces you to make exact change) was very good for my first grader and took some time so that she didn't exceed the amount required. However once done and we saw the show, the game leaves you unable to do anything else.We have to sign on as a new person or uninstall the game to start it over again.I'm considering trading my game with friend, so they can enjoy it. ... My kids really love the game style of learning.

2-0 out of 5 stars Good theme, low quality software
The goal behind this software is great. We bought this to give our computer savvy child some practice on writing and language art. The software is not of good quality. It has hard to use user interface. Especially compared to other educational software, this lacks the finish. My son soon got bored and has never used this.

1-0 out of 5 stars poorly designed, teaches nothing, difficult to play
This game is very poor compared to Reader Rabbit's Learn to read with Phonics or I can read with Phonics.I already had those two games but I read the following comments and thought I should get this one too.Not so!The games in here are ridiculous, teach very little phonics or reading, are difficult to master, and are all a waste. For those who like curious George, this game hardly ever shows George at all.I think the Reader Rabbits games are 1000% superior in every area in teaching kids phonics and reading.Skip this product, stick with Reader Rabbit, and you won't be stuck with it like I am.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very good game, lower case letters and phonics!!
George is great for both boys and girls and the circus is a huge hit so there you have their attention!! The secret is to keep this as your one and only game at least for a good couple of months before you start buying the easy, fun entertainment-only games like Blues Clues etc.. That will give them a chance to love this game because it does make them think and you have to be there to help when they first start off. I don't think it is slow at all, the narration is just right and there is plenty of help from the ringmaster of the circus, kids just need to be told to click on his icon to get clues. Great for my 4 yr old that learns phonics in her Montessori pre-school. Tons of sweet stories about circus animals for them to just listen to when they are tired of the phonics. I love this!!

4-0 out of 5 stars More 'work' than 'game' -- but still a valuable CD
This CD lacks the color and the adventure of the Reader Rabbit CDs, but it makes up for thru it's phonics drills. It's one after another with little talking which is why my children burn out on it fast. I don't see that as a bad thing, tho, as children learn in quick bursts and then like a break from the drill-like phonic questions. Which is probably why they can play Reader Rabbit games for hours because it's less ceribral and more game-orientated. Read more
