how bad can it get?
the newest version of systemworks is a horror.i will never buy this product again. it get's worse and worse.live update never completes (never had this problem with previous versions).try to get some help - forgedaboutit.
Absolutely the END!!...What a piece of CRAP!!
I too must echo the end of my patience with Symantec / Norton. My computer was running just fine with Systemworks 2005 and Internet Security 2005 (although as I recall there were installation issues with these as well). Now I get a notice that my subscription is almost up, and would I like to upgrade (and I use the term loosely!). Ok..I pony up about $59 to upgrade to 2006...let the nightmare begin...
Useless
Do not install this on your computer.Your pc will be bloated with slow and over complex software. After uninstalling the System Works suite in XP the system rebooted and Norton GoBack starts to uninstall. Still waiting for that to complete over an hour later and I have a pretty fast PC.Don't waste your time with this dog... Norton used to be good but it's junk now. ... Read more

Kaspersky Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware is the best available
Kaspersky is full function, easy to use, and does not over burden my desktop.I like the ability to set it for hourly updates which are typically 40-60kb and my computer doesn't even blink when the update happens. I appreciate the full protection and ease of use and it is well worth the money. [...]

So Easy
Kaspersky was so easy to install and get up and running I could not belive it. The hourly updates are great! The update files are so small you don't notice that it's happening. After I installed and ran Kaspersky it found viruses and spyware that AGV and Adaware let through. You can't go wrong.

Curse of the Anti-Virus Software Writers
What is it with the folks who write this kind of software? It must be reeeaally hard to do, because no one seems to get it completely right, including Kaspersky.

Solid Suite
I have been a pretty happy, satisfied Trend Micro PC Cillin user for many years now. Not too long ago I downloaded the 2007 version of their suite.
Sub System Malfuntion
This is Malfuntioning piece of Junk. A Time consumer that drive you nuts.
The Best and Effective Security Product.
I am a data communication analyst and have lots of experience and knowledge when it comes to data security and system performance. I have used Norton products and was a loyal user though they add several services and entries to the auto run key in the registry for no good reason thereby negatively impacting system performance especially if you use laptop. Whenever I installed Norton product I had to tweak the registry in order to stop unnessary drain of system resources.I tried Kaspersky Internet Security version 6 after Norton ghost failed to clone my hard drive to the new and faster hard drive. I ended up restoring the saved image to the new drive and was prompted with activation which, of course, failed. After testing the program for about a month and delving into all advanced settings ,I honestly would like to assert that Kespersky labs Internet Security Suite is a super performer andeffectivly does its job without adding some interfaces designed to sell you more. The program is just amazing and well worth the money. The bottom line is that its the best out there. Of cousre just like everything elseit would require some common sense to use it to its full potential.

Multiple crashes -- unacceptable quality.
The program crashed during Setup. When I finally got it installed, it crashed my machine every night until I uninstalled it.
Wonderful product!
I am a s/w professional and I been using this product suite for the last 2 years and i am happy with this. This is a wonderful product except Pestpatrol which made my system very slower (sometimes) during startup.

Horrible Software!
Found the registration number difficult to read. Had to have customer service tell me that they run into this all the time! The I's look like 1's. Tried it again! I got it to load. My computer slowed down significantly! Certain sites I could not access anymore without re-configuring the software. I have used Norton. MCaffee or whatever, and other suite type security software. This one was the worst. I would not recommend it. I got a well deserved refund. ... Read more

Privacy Service & Spamkiller Installation Disables All Browsers & Email Programs for accessing the internet.
Warning:I Installed Mcafee Total Protection 2007 on my Windows XP Pro Edition SP2 PC.I then was unable to connect to the internet.It disabled all my browsers (IE, Netscape, & Secure IE) & also disabled MS Outlook from accessing the internet.
The worst security product I've used
Had this for three computers at home, and it was working at first, after two weeks it started causing significant performance problems and interaction with other programs on one system and I had to remove it.After 6 weeks and update was pushed out and really hosed the second computer causing significant performance problems and preventing World of Warcraft from running and I had to remove it from that one.The first two were Win XP Pro.The third computer barely gets used and is Win 2000 Pro and havn't had any significant problems.Tech support is the worst I have seen, ok maby D-Link was worse a few years ago.They don't even list the product in their technical support and you have to pay to speak with anyone.I have gone back to using simpler but functional/working security products.

Warning on Update Service
The anti-virus product came with my Dell.I signed up for the updates that are needed for the virus scan to work.It seemed to work fine.But after a while, I was tired of the pop up's telling me that I should upgrade to another product.

Ripoff--Disable ware
Don't buy software you pay good money for only to have it disabled!If I had known this was going to be disabled prematurely, I would have never had bought it.
Installation Hard, Tech Support Variable
I've used Norton for years.I had trouble installing it too. At one point, I had a tech support guy (the only one who really knew what he was doing) remotely control my computer for three hours after five earlier calls to tech support to install it and uninstall the old one.The pre-scans often failed but when I skipped them, it worked better.One other suggestion is to make sure all symantec folders are deleted before installing the new version, including folders in the Windows Registry.I too couldn't install GoBack and just went on without it.

Don't install Go Back
After reading the reviews here, I was downright scared to put this version on my computer even though I have been using Norton to protect my computers for 10 years. Their record for both easily installed software and customer support has worsened by the year.
