Save your cash, don't upgrade.
I have been using Microsoft Money 2000 for years and figured it was time to upgrade.The 2006 & 2007 versions got low marks so I decided on 2005 because it offered updated online services.
Excellent upgrade BUT do read fully (esp. 2007 yr.)
I have extensively used 2004 (Premium) and decided to opt for 2005 (Deluxe). We're now in 2007. Many may wonder why (a) I downgraded from Premium to Deluxe (b) Why I didn't buy 2006 or 2007. Here's why:
A deception
Not worth it. I nedded support for a country not supported in Money 2004 and saw it listed as available in Money 2005, so I give it a try. Found out the country was not supported and since you can not add currencies in this version, I ended up with a worst fit that the one I had with 2004. Besides, the program is heavier than the previous version so, summarizing, it is not worth the trouble. I just disinstalled it and went back to version 2004. ... Read more

10 + year user
I have used Turbo Tax for as long as I can remember.I have always purchased their business and their personal tax products.Generally I had been satisfied. However this year after spending much time over many months working on a complicated return, Turbo tax dumped all the data including that which was saved many times over several months. It corrupted all but 2kb of data and can't even open that. Of course you can't get a person via telephone or email.
turbo tax software
Turbo Tax Deluxe is an excellent product but they should make it easier for you to back up without having to go thorugh the whole category to get to one item.

This product did an excellent job of figuring our taxes.This is the first time we've tried something like this and found it very easy to follow and complete.You can go back and change things or review them, it gives you a way to e-file, you can print out all the copies that you may need.I was surprised how easy it was to use.However it took us a long time because we read all the items very carefully and double checked everything but it saved us a lot of money from what we used to pay our tax preparer.I was very happy with it. ... Money is better than Quicken
I've been using either quicken or money since the late 80's.I started out with Quicken, but then one day my computer hard drive crashed.I thought I would be OK, since I always backed up my quicken to alternating floppies; however, Quicken could not recover my files from the floppy backups.I switched to MS Money in '95 and NEVER LOOKED BACK.I have been using MS 2006 for several months (it was preinstalled on my Compaq laptop) and find only one annoyance; they seem to be keen on you putting your Money data on the web.Sorry, I don't trust MS security that much, but I do like MS Money 2006.I hear there are not enough improvements in the 2007 version to justify an upgrade.Also, if you have 2005, no real need to go to 2006 either.I did trial a copy of Quicken last year just to see if they'd caught up with Money, but I was not impressed enough to switch.

Bugged and disgusted
I have two computers, and this program runs on neither one! You must have an internet connection or the program cannot run - despite what it says on the package about "internet functionality".
Gets the job done
Had been using MS Money 2002 up to this point and really loved it.Circumstances forced me to upgrade my Compaq laptop with this version.Although I'm not a big fan of this version, it does get the job done.The the program files loaded off the CD-ROM with no problems and I suffered no hang-ups, stalls, or anything else when loading and installing.Insofar as the program itself is concern, MS Money 2002 is better, but this version will do.It's a sign of the times. ... poor installation & update, odd assumptions, but easy to use
i've used taxcut for about 4 years now.i read the bad about the 2005 edition in the reviews, but i'd rather buy taxcut again than enter last year's data (i think they're counting on this!).
Lawsuit waiting to happen
Filed my taxes in February with TaxCut Deluxe. Just got my state tax return sent back to me saying that I had failed to fill out large chunks of my tax return.When I examined what TaxCut had filled out, it left out complete columns.When I started to do the tax return by hand, it became clear that TaxCut failed not only fill things out, but also filled out parts of the form incorrectly.It got the standard deduction wrong (to the tune of 2 grand).
Form 8801
After four straight years of using TaxCut, I believe I'll use TurboTax next year.As others pointed out, after TaxCut indicated no further errors nor warnings, the return got rejected by the IRS because, in Form 8801, the program did not subtract line 38 from line 37 and put the results in line 40.I won't be able to e-file because of this basic mistake in TaxCut's compliance with how the form should be filled out according to the IRS. ... Seriously disappointed no Support for WM5 PPC
After getting my clients and myself over to Microsoft Money with them on the way to upgrade to SBA since "Microsoft products play well" microsoft pulls stupid yes stupid things like this. This was a record year increase in sales of PPC. Who at Microsoft don't get it? If you release WM5 you would expect any product 2005 on would work on it! When I saw 2007 was out I was happy to be able to go to my clients and say here the wait is over we can go ahead and move up.... But no. Sad. Sorry MS not getting your money and your not getting ours this time. Someone screwed up.

Switching to Quicken
I've been using MS Money for 5 or 6 years now, with only minor issues.Prior to that I used Quicken, but when I got a Pocket PC I wanted to be able to enter transactions on the PPC, and the only handheld version of Quicken at the time was for Palm OS.So I switched to Money, and have been generally happy.
They refuse to listen to customer requests.
It works okay for me.For three years, I (and a lot of people) have been asking for the capability to simply show customer payments on the invoices.They havn't listend even though they've acknowledged the probelm.I'm giving Quicken a shot for 2007. ... Read more

Useful but had a couple issues.
We had to use this program due to a delay by our tax person. Overall the interface was nice and it walked us through the process. We didn't have any special forms need so that probably made it easier then from what I saw other reviewers have posted.
TurboTax Made My Day
I've been using TurboTax since 1999. We run two small companies and my background is in accounting. Hence, I have a VERY hard time giving someone else my bookkeeping and taxes to do, since I really have a hard time letting go of the control! (I've really got to get over that!!) Each year, it seems that TurboTax does nothing but improve! I typically delay until the last minute and cram it all in on April 14, and if it wasn't for the simplicity fo this software, I'd be filing extentions every year. Really, gathering all your stuff together is the hardest part. This software does everything else for you.

worst program ever
This was the most user unfriendly Turbotax I have ever used.The Schedule C imported misinformation, had to keep forcing in the correct info. And I just found out my State taxes were received showing I owed a completely different amount than what I had electronically filed.I have used this program for years, but after this, NEVER AGAIN!!! Should have upgraded sooner!
This was a long overdue upgrade from 2003 version. Should have upgraded sooner. This release fixes all those little annoying extra steps you used to have to take to get lists and reports. Much quicker and easier to use on daily AR/AP. I haven't had time yet to delve deeper for further review. So far - two thumbs up .

minor updates for the $$
I still don't understand why Intuit justifies charging a ridiculous amount for minor updates to their program - and then you still have no support!Even the upgrade cost is outrageous for what you get.I've been using Quickbooks for 10 years now and only stay with them because the better programs are way out of reach and moving my data would take great amounts of time and energy.Will they ever listen to their customers and their needs?

Wait till they get the bugs out
Purchased this version to upgrade from 04 Simple install did not work,had to uninstall,thats where the problems started. Somehow it locked up my system. Was not able to reboot at all, could not start up in safe mode, could not use system restore or use last good configuration. called Intuit Thur PM was told by a tech I was not alone, there were quite a few others with the same problem. I was told my situation was placed on high prioroty and should be resolved in a few hours, they would call me with the solution well after 10 more phone calls and no help at all my only solution was to reformat and reinstall my operating system . Files lostand much time wasted.

A huge disappointment over 2005 version
When converting my 2005 data over to 2006 version it lost all of my time data.I have to rebuild my datafile just to use the check register now.Also the new program will not allow me to add a vendor or a customer.I've had to change names and addresses of obsolete customers and vendors just to add new ones.
Great product!
I use this program daily and it is awesome!It has lots of great new features especially the new home page that has the customer, vendor and employee centers where you can now see all of the information in one place.The features and functionality of the program are everything any small to mid size business needs to run their company from a financial point of view.Great improvements over previous versions.

In Response to Basic Macintosh Version - Round Off Flaw Found... NOT TRUE
TurboTax properly rounds off based on IRS rules. Amounts less than 50 cents are rounded down to the nearest dollar while amounts more than 49 cents are rounded up to the next dollar. This is in accordance with IRS rules and TurboTax is in compliance with this.

Very disappointing
This product will be just fine if: you don't have to enter historical data, you're tenants never move out, you never sell a property, you don't mind entering data manually instead of having the program do it for you (silly you).
BAD PROGRAM
The info doesn't transfer onto quickbooks. I couldn't keep track of late fees automatically. Rent isn't automatic every month, it must be manually entered monthly. This was a pain to use.BAD PROGRAM

OK for simple taxes, not up the the job if your taxes have any uncommon entries
This was my first time using TT. I bought the Premier edition to be able to handle my ESPP, NQSO and ISO options and to compute my AMT which (this is the first year I've been hit by that). BTW, on the topic of company stock plans, I strongly recommend Kaye Thomas' book "Consider Your Options". TT made the process go a little faster except for all the time I spent on online chats and on phone tech support calls to eventually learn that TT could not support my situation without hacking my numbers or moving transations into different categories from where they should really go. More on this below.
TurboTax saved me money over TaxCut
Last year, I got mad at TurboTax. They moved the stock option support I needed into Premium, and I refused to pay the extra money on principle. So this year I bought TaxCut Premium instead. Bad choice! I aborted my return with TaxCut. I bought TurboTax Premium to complete my return. The difference between the two products is compelling.
Federal Taxes for Idiots
We have used this product for the last three years and find it very easy to prepare our taxes, particularly the section that deals with mutual funds and stocks sales, losses, gains, etc.The program asks you questions and your answers end up in the right forms and/or worksheets, which you can later print or save to a PDF file and, of course, you can e-file, if you so desire.

soft ware purchase

I love it -- I hate it.
What I love about it.It carries information forward from prior-year returns.It imports Schedule B and Schedule D information.It produces legible documents, something I could never do on my own.
Is there anything better?
I have used Turbo Tax for years and this does seem like the worst year. It takes away choice in many ways. It is hard to elect other methods than the what the program thinks is the best unless you cheat the numbers. Security transactions are difficult. Finding your way back to a specific point to check it is difficult.

Never Using TaxCut Again!
I've been using TaxCut Since 2001 and have never been really happy with it, but every year something happens that is annoying and I finally think it is time to move on.One year, due to buggy programming it SKIPPED my entire IRA interview so I made an error on my taxes and ended up having to pay an additional $900 plus a penalty.The HUGE amount of work required to prove this error to take advantage of the "Guarantee" is a joke and not worth the time.I have learned that you can never never just rely on the interviews and that they often aren't phrased clearly enough so you don't know really where you are in the return. I have complicated taxes, so I really need things to be logically and clearly spelled out.
Poor Software
This product is not as user friendly as the competative product, Turbo Tax that I have used for the past 5 years. I also found that when I sent my taxes in I was told that the figure that Tax Cut had arrived at was wrong and I owed money. Technical Staff at Tax Cut were not available in a timely manner, and some three months after the tax deadline finally told me that they do not calculate the bottom line tax due in the same way that the Federal and State Governments do and rounding errors can occur. What do you buy this product for but to get it right the first time!

Some apparent defects and poor support
I had an issue with the error checker finding copy number problems when none existed. Online support told me to delete the forms and re-enter, which did not solve the problem. They kept cutting and pasting some verbiage that had nothing to do with my problem, insisting I try that. In the end I gave up after three separate sessions and ignored the warning. Online support resources were very thin, The online chat seemed good at first but could not go past standard cut and paste responses.

A much needed update!
I have been a long time user of quicken and MS Money but always seem to gravitate back to quicken. However I have not been very happy with 02 and 04 versions of quicken. They were buggy, ran slow, had issues with downloading data.
Hard to understand.
The original 30 minutes I devoted to setting up with info was the easy part. This program is tough to learn or understand. I have no problem with Photo Shop, Flash or Quick Books Pro but this is crazy. I'll try something else.

Not Bad, QIF Can be Made to Work
I have used several previous versions of Quicken, 98 Standard and 2000 and 2003 Home and Business.I thought 2003 was more style than substance, and 2006 simply continues that trend.Very little functionality has been added in the last few years, just prettier menus.
