The company is so bad, they overshadown their own product!
This is probably one of the best examples of the worst kind of company!They got where they are because they gave small business an accounting program, and in return, small businesses gave their loyalty and their dollars, and now Intuit abuses those same customers by forcing upgrades they don't need and often can't afford in light of the skyrocking cost increases.The real kicker is, if you don't upgrade, they TAKE AWAY PROGRAM FUNCTIONALITY from the version you've already bought and paid for(tax tables, email capabilities, to name two).I despise this company and their product, and after 14 yrs., we've bent over enough and we're DONE!They expect our 5 person company to upgrade to the next version, which would require an upgrade of our operating systems in order to be compatible, PLUS the cost of another payroll subscription , costing us hundreds and hundreds of dollars we can't afford and don't need to spend!I've already found a shareware program that will restore the function that allows for emailing invoices to customers (STOLEN by Intuit when we didn't upgrade) and am currently searching for some way to import a tax table (also STOLEN by Intuit when we didn't upgrade). If I can find that, we can keep the version we're using for years as it suits our needs just fine.We should have the right to make that decision and not have it result in the crippling of a program we've already bought. Intuit makes Microsoft look like warm, fuzzy teddy bears, and I think it's time we all get together and raise a big enough fuss that their business practices will finally come under the same kind of scrutiny Microsoft has been subject to for years.I dare say we'd see some changes.....at the very least, an end to the theft of our property!!

Greedy
I have never ever used an application that was totally designed to get more and more money.Every other page is a sales page and after paying $300 plus for the application and another $200 for the payroll, now I have to pay if I want their help.It is a good tool but the company mission is to make more money, no longer has anything to do with their customers.
Going, going, gone
Purchased this software because I got a deal with a special price break.I have a very small business, so a purchase of several hundred dollars needs to pay back quickly.

Peachtree Pro hard to install - not for me!
I purchased Peachtree Pro to use in my small business.Right out of the box, I am having problems installing the software.After three attempts to load it, I finally called Peachtree Customer Service and am in no better shape than I was before I called.After waiting on hold for greater than 30 minutes, I worked with a tech specialist for over an hour, but no resolution to the problem could be found.The main issue is "conflicts with firewalls."Even with firewalls disabled, the program would not load.I have now wasted more than 6 hours and still do not have a reliable accounting program.

Peachtree problems
A lovely program, if you want to pay a fortune to get their fancy formulas for computing payroll taxes ($259.00 year & no they do not prorate) All the tax charts in the world will not help you, as the formulas use only specific words (not regular spreadsheet computations).If you want to track bills, invoice & inventory it might be okay, but there are better programs available for alot less. ... New to payroll
If your new to payroll give in and buy it.I bought the standard payroll and it was much easier than doing payroll manually, especially since I'm still trying to figure what I'm doing.But like all the other Quickbook products, no support and every other page is a way for you to spend more money.Does not support Workman's comp , not even a place to build your tracking and if you void a check it screws up the YTD and it won't let you delete a check.I have to call and pay to find out what's wrong.

SLOW NEWS IN A FAST PACED WORLD
The Wall Street Journel invented and is still the best at fair and balenced reporting , inspite of what fox news may think. They have great writers who care and if they edit your comments it is only to allow space for it to fit. In short this is the only American news company that can be trusted on a day to day basis. So this begs the question , why do I only give them 2 stars. Thier front page news stories are brought out to slow to be of value if the story has time value. It is still a great paper (web site) if in todays fast paced world you can find time for it. Dow Jones Market Watch ( same company ) is a better site for up to the minuite finacial information and it is free.

Incredible value. Not just for business news.
I've been a subscriber for two years and consider it indispensable for general news as well.They pack a lot of quality into this site and practice continuous improvement.(An example of something that just popped up: an index page with names of people in today's news, and one with the businesses.Click and go.)You can get news alerts by phone or e-mail for exactly what you want (technology, air travel, Asian Markets, a couple dozen categories in all)."The Numbers Guy" feature examines and debunks statistics that no one had thought to question.
Product has gotten better
For those of you who read the newspaper, the WSJ online is a good value. My local newspaper is $120/yr online and USA Today is about the same.

Incorrect Securities Matching Algorithm
If you plan on using Quicken to track investments beware that they will assign improper prices for any security that you hold where you have more than one class of that security.
not so quick
This program is not easy to use.It takes a long time. Some of the information you want to add (name of some investment companies) you can't. I don't think I would buy it again.

OK but would go for Primer
This is great--- much better than Money that I replaced as Money requires a password on the passport system and if you forget you get lost in the sponge of their system. Would recommend the upgrade to Premier as it has better features-investments etc and it is only$10. It is a great program but of course it has a few guitches as they all do but this seems to be one of the best-at least that is what I feel until it mucks up. ... Read more

Excelent Buy
We was looking for an Accounting Package for our business, and we find Peachtree Accounting 2006 that is great for our use. We currently using to carry the accounting of our business. We reccmmend it

Works as advertised, but expect no support, complicated menus and junk mail
I purchased Peachtree Accounting for my small business to keep track of my inventory, purchase and sales.The software is a power tool with numerous reports and abilities which to be honest, are beyond my needs as the owner of a small business, but that means that there is room to grow.Initial setup of my company records took a bit of time due to navigation which is counterintuitive and poor descriptions in the manual.Basically, the authors of the software and manuals assume that the software user has an accounting background and done offer a lot of help if you do not.The process is also hindered by the fact that you must start with accounts already set up based on an example business which means that I have dozens of account numbers which I will never use and had to go back and delete.

What a worthless piece of garbage
I could probably crap out a program that works better than this one.Downloading transactions with this is just a migraine and a half since it would not download from my institution.I just kept getting error messages when I knew all my information was correct.I had this thing set up and running fine for about a month and then this starts happening.I've had to reload this program before just because it's been a major pain in my a#@.I whole heartedly agree with a previous reviewer that I would have given this zero stars if at all possible.Amazon people can you make a function so that I can give this zero stars and rest at peace.Find something better to use than this POS.I hope this helps and have a very bad day.
Functions work but import limitations
The most frustrating aspect of Quicken is that when you upgrade it destroys allyour detail.I lost a lot of work because of that.I've never really recovered from having over 1 year worth of detail lost.There was no warning when I upgraded and couldn't get back the detail.
Transaction Recognition?I don't think so.
I purchased Quicken based on its claims to have greatly improved auto-recognition of bank transactions.

Good product
Quickbooks Premiere for Professional Services is definitely the best software in its class for consultants and contractors. It really streamlines the billing process and provides you with detailed info on the status of your business. However, there are soe features I found to be unduly complex (like the template designer). Overall a good buy though.

QuickBooks 2006 is greatly improved
The latest version of QuickBooks is much easier to use.It is easy for non-accountants to do the bookkeeping now.There is a great new home page that makes it easy to navigate to the tasks you want to do.The new user set up process is a quick, easy interview.For small business owners, this is a "must try" product.

How about getting on the ball in Security, Intuit?
In the year 2006 it is INSANE that we as IT pros still have to hack registry hives to get this software to run as a limited privilege account to better secure our computers.

Fair Financial Software
I purchased Microsoft Money to keep track of my monthly budget and a couple of small investments that I had.While there is some good stuff there, Money has quite a few shortcomings which make it much less than what I expected.

Just a horrendous piece of software
I used the TaxCut software to prepare my personal tax return the past two years and was very happy with it. The software was easy to use, it led you through a serious of interview questions and made suggestions along the way.I recently started an S Corp. and thought I would use TaxCut Business to handle the taxes for the corporation. I have no employees besides myself, no product or inventory, and no source of income other than consulting fees.Should be easy right?I couldn't have been more wrong.After about 4 hours of struggling with this software I was no farther along than when I started.It provided little guidance as to how I should be filling out the forms.The personal edition will askyou a series of questions to guide you through the process, no so in the Business edition.
BAD, BAD PROGRAM!
This SUCKS.I've fought with this program--it keeps saying my taxes are pending, but won't print them out, and I can't figure out how to get them "approved".Now, the stupid program will not even open, so I not only have to fill out the forms BY HAND, but I've got to start from scratch too, because I can't even open up the program to get the data I've already entered.DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS OR FUTURE EDITIONS.IT IS ****NOT**** WORTH IT

The software looks good and feels professional, yet when you try to delve into it, it bites you.
Microsoft Money 2004 Deluxe
Excellent financial management program, easy to use. Budgeting,bill paying,portfolio, bank accounts, credit card accounts,mortgages and loans, tax management, and retirement planning are all handled with ease and accuracy. I do recommend that you get Peter Weverka's book - "Microsoft Money 2004 for Dummies" if you would like to be able to use the program to the fullest extent with the least confusion. Together, they're unbeatable!

I purchased this product from Amazon.After spending probably 15 hours of work entering information, I returned to my computer today to find that the only information remaining in the tax file was my corporate name and address information.All income, expenses, deductions and depreciation entries were gone.

And the third choice is...
I've been using Quicken since 1990, though I'd hesitate to say I'm a loyal user. Oh how I wish there was a company to come out with an alternative to Quicken or Money! Like the two internet services available locally, both are expensive and both provide poor service, but they are the ONLY TWO AVAILABLE. JayD's review below, "A less extreme view" is so true. So is the one by "Jo Gusto." The 2006 version of Quicken implemented a feature that rendered my carefully maintained database of investment accounts tied to on-line downloads utterly unmanageable. I probably would have gone back to the 2005 version, but I know that Quicken eventually disowns previous versions and makes it impossible to download tranasactions AT ALL! Us Quicken users are like Charlie Brown who always thinks he'll be able to kick the football only to have it pulled out from under him by Lucy. We buy the new version because SURELY they will have fixed the bugs only to find the old ones AND some new ones!Aaaargh!

Quicken Deluxe 2006
It is not much different from my 2004 version. Somehow though I have double records of some accounts. Some accounts have reappeared that were hidden. Overall it still works for my checking and other accounts. There should be some way to get rid of the double accounts without losing the other one.
A less extreme view
Seems you either love Quicken or hate it.I'd like to give an unbiased review, if that is possible.

Great Financial Program
Great program.I have been using this for 2 years and I am extrememly satisfied with it.Downloading transactions is ridiculously easy and saves me tons of time.No more balancing the checkbook!You can create reports with just one touch of a button and create a budget in a flash!

Problems With Quicken 2003 Are Now Overcome
In the spring of 2003, I upgraded from Quicken 2000 to Quicken 2003.I have used various versions of Quicken since the DOS days.Immediately after this upgrade I had many problems running the reports.My entire computer would freeze and I would need to shutdown and restart Quicken.I most cases I was unable to get the information I need from Quicken.Recently, I purchased a new laptop with Microsoft Money was installed on it.I moved the Quicken 2003 data file onto the laptop and used Microsoft Money to gather some of the detailed information I needed to prepare my tax return and the financial aid application for my kids.I was about ready to trash Quicken and use Microsoft Money until this week when I upgraded the operating system of the computer that the Quicken 2003 was installed on.After upgrading from Windows 98 second edition to Windows XP Home edition, all of the reports work and work well, apparently the functionality of Quicken 2003 on Windows 98 is not as compatible as desired or expected based upon the wording on the Quicken 2003 product packaging.Since all is now working well I am going to stay with Quicken for now.

This software does a terrible job to match the short sale and cover short transactions in my brokerage account. I have to manually specify those transactions to the right types ONE BY ONE and it still couldn't calculate the trasaction proceeds correctly. It is so frustrating. Decent software, but not worth the cash
Microsoft has, as always, produced decent software. It is nothing to get excited over, but it does its job.
Dont think I'll like it as much..........
as my old Works Suite 2002.I tried installing the 2002 suite on my new computer. Kept getting an error message about not being able to display the EULA agreement for me to accept, and thus wont install the Works Task launcher. I tried all the "fixes" but it just wouldnt install, so, I bought the Works Suite 2005 from Amazon.Well, I got an error message after I installed it. This time about not being able to run it on Windows 95, 98 and 2000.Well, I'm using XP Pro.Long story short, I just right clicked on TASK LAUNCHER, THEN COMPATIBILITY, THEN UNCHECKED THE COMPATIBILITY MODE BOX, and the program started up.I also had to uninstall Office 2003, which uses Word 2003 because Works Suite 2005uses Word 2002. This was on the advice of Microsoft Tech support.

As with all software, the user interface and its workflow has its quirks. Some of it you may find counter-intuitive and not very helpful.
