Don't Believe Everything You Read...
The ad for this product on Amazon.com says "Rebate in Box" ($120).The thing it does not say is that you must own a prior version of Quickbooks to get the rebate.I ordered the product thinking I would get a rebate.After opening the box to turn in the rebate, I find out that I do not qualify for the rebate and now I cannot return the product because the box is open. ... Checksoft 2005 Home & Business
The program was okay for my purposes except it is not possible to split catagories, so I purchased Quicken Deluxe 2005 to use with the check writing feature. Quicken did an update soon afterward. Checksoft was no longer compatible and I could not print the checks. My emails received no response. I am not about to purchase new versions of Checksoft every time Quicken updates. I have resorted to using Checksoft's program for printing a check and then registering again in Quicken. It is a hassle and a time-eater!!

Total disaster
If this is anything like Check Designer, stay away.My experience was that the program is incompatible with Quicken's updates, and needs a new patch every time Quicken revises . . .until the latest Quicken update, to which Check Designer is permanently incompatible with.Their tech support responded only by emails and only on a 24-hour turnaround (so don't be in a hurry to fix bugs), then they send you one goose chase after another, but none makes it work.And then they refuse to t refund the price because it's after a mere 30 days from purchase. . .but we've been emailing for 30 days alone.That's my last purchse from Avanquest. ... Very Good
I've owned Microsoft Money for several years.I purchased this to replace a previous version.It is simple to use and works for basic money management.

Everything was going fine, until...
My computer had a hard crash while MS Money was open (the crash may not have been MS Money's fault).Upon rebooting, I was unable to open the MS Money data file.Additionally, ALL of the MS Money backup files were corrupt.I had to rebuild everything from scratch.What good is the software if it can't recover from a crash?
Great program

hassle free will
My wife and I did our wills.Nothing fancy, no complicated scenarios.For us it was a snap.Of course neither of us have died.Until then who knows.Worth it in order to avoid paying a lawyer a bundle.I can reccommend it for simple estates.

Very disappointed
I was rather disappointed with this purchase and my purchase of the Business version.I would have preferred to have more document templates.I have used the Quicken Lawyer 2003 Business version and they're getting warmer.Perhaps the 2004 version will be great?

IT'S DEDUCTABLE
NOTHING TO INDICATE DEDUCTIONS THAT YOU MAY BE OVERLOOKING. NOTHING INDICATING THAT THE PROGRAM CAN ONLY BE USED TO TRACK DEDUCTIONS DURING 2004, AND CANNOT BE USED FOR ANYTHING IN ANY OTHER YEAR. REALLY NOT WORTH THE MONEY.

It's worse now than ever!
Last year (2004), I used ItsDeductible for an entire year, keeping track of my donations of clothes, money, and other items.I was also able to use the software to keep track of my job-related expenses that are deductible (ie research expenses of a professor, job related journals, etc.)There was also a space to keep track of medical expenses.I loved it, and it saved me some money. I just received my new, *not* improved 2005 version, and suddenly, everything has changed.Basically, they made the software LESS useful.They have eliminated the medical expense and the professional expense sections, and now there is only the bare-bones charity donation record keeping.And even this has been drastically cut - many specific categories of clothing, for example, have been cut.Last year, I could be as specific as denim jeans or silk blouses - this year they are listed as "women's pants" and "women's shirts" with no variance in the price that they are "worth."Because of this, I am pretty skeptical that this would pass an audit, so I am now keeping extra records of these donations DESPITE buying the software.I suspect that the company could care less - what are the chances of an audit, anyway?It is probably cheaper for them to avoid refunds when consumers don't achieve the promised 500.00 savings than it is to fear the IRS audits, which are few and far between.Final word - rather than improved, this new version is worse.I could do just as well with a notebook and a quick check on ebay for values.

Too many items missing
I just spent 1.5 hrs entering 80 items.Only half of my donated items were included in the ItsDeductible database.I had to manually enter the other half and estimate the value on my own.

Trying the full demo; don't think would buy if had another option
I downloaded the full demo from the company website. It is a VERY basic finance tracking software; I don't think that its worth the $80 to buy, but then again, its only competitor, Quicken, has had such bad reviews that I doubt there are any reliable options for personal finance software for the Mac system.

I love Microsoft.This is not Microsoft.
Money's user interface is completely unlike any other product.Remember, Microsoft purchased this to compete with Quicken.MS never brought the user interface into compliance with its other products.I hate this product for its interface.I can't find anything.Links from one page to the next do not make sense.There is no easy way to find (for example) where to change the user ID or the web addresses for your accounts should something change (like Chase buying BankOne).
No brainer to No gainer
At one time, it was desirable to upgrade prior versions of Money for the free benefits included:1 year of msn billpay, free tax software, 1 year credit reporting, etc.It was a no brainer to purchase the new version just for the perks.
Maybe good for business but short for personal
M.S. money seems to still be lacking easy of use for the home user. Several lingering problems seem to holding on.

Beware - Bad Release
Hopefully, they'll clean this up. Right now, it's not ready for prime time. I am a power user with 5 years of data.I work the heck out of this program. I had to reinstall once because it mangled my data. It crashed at least half a dozen times during initial setup. Now that I've got it working, it's lost my online payee info. I don't see anything here I couldn't live without (they didn't make it any easier to update mortgage payments). I'm sorry I broke my own rule -- don't install "beta" software. Wait six months!

Don't bother - Keep using 2006 - not worth the money for the upgrade.

Not worth the time or the money (and don't download it!)
I downloaded this software directly from H&R Block as part of an offer for the rebate to get the software free as part of purchasing it with Taxcut. So, I downloaded it with Taxcut, figuring, why not? It's free! WRONG! The rebate if only valid for "retail" purchases (i.e. not downloading it - what a ripoff!).
Buggy Software that Does Not Save Time
After manually entering many "non-cash" items, I found the total amount for this category was not reflected in the summary page and shown as $0. The data would also not export to Taxcut. When contacted, the technical support "help" was to re-enter everything and if that did not work, to re-install the software. The software did not save me time - it doubled the time it would have taken to just enter the information directly into Taxcut.

Good for the basic stuff, nothing more
I had no install or functional issues with this product, however my complaint is this: for $19.99 this software should know armoire, stereo CD player, etc.Basically it has a database of the most common household and office items, nothing more.In the long run will it help you save more money?Maybe, depends on what you are trying to claim.

I have used QuickBooks since 1995 and find that people who are writing negative comments aren't really talking about the product BUT rather how phenomenally cheap they are.

I'd rather deal with Tony Soprano
I don't have a problem with the way Quickbooks works, but paying [$$] a year for the tax tables is pure (...). When I was forced to upgrade to QB Pro 2003 it at least came with the payroll tax tables for the year. This year if I wanted to upgrade to QB 2005 they wanted [$$] for the upgrade and [$$] additional for the tax tables. Every year they come up with a clever new way to cheat their customers out of their money.
