Random Freezes = Crashware
Same random "freezes" are happening on my machine while using Firefox. Horrible product... more like a virus than a "virus checker". Another fun annoyance is with Onecare backups. Try deleting the file from your external hard drive... can't do it... not even after applying "Sharing" attributes as suggested by MS. This is more like a "freeware" app than a major software product produced by MS.
OneCare or CareLess?
I installed OneCare on a new up-to-date computer. Right off, Windows Explorer started saying "A fault in the program had occured." Within a couple of days, my new computer had a trojan but was caught by Spybot Search and Destroy thankfully. This was a known trojan, though updated software, why didn't OneCare catch it in the "real times monitoring"? I deleted out OneCare to replace it with Norton, and noticed that the "Program Faults" also stopped. This program is plain Jane, without many options. It may become better with time, as this one is a Beta version *having to PAY to test it for them*
This Program Is Great
Finally Microsoft got around to creating something useful! This application rolls anti-virus, anti-spyware, firewall, backup / restore, and tune-up to Windows XP.What sets this aside from other more traditional utilities is Microsoft's way of seamlessly integrating these new features right into Windows XP.What's more, it automatically updates, and for just one program box, they will allow you to install it on up to 3 computers! It's a bargain.

Editorial Review When Apple introduced its first generation of Intel-powered Macs, the "Are you a Mac or aPC person" question suddenly became moot. With the new Intel Mac machines, you can have the best of both Macintosh and PC worlds. Unfortunately, switching between operating systems on the new Intel Macs can be a time-consuming process. You must completely shut down OS X and endure a full start-up cycle in order to run Windows. That's where Parallels Desktop for Mac comes in. With Parallels Desktop, you can run Windows applications along with your Macintosh programs -- right on your Mac, side-by-side -- so you never have to suffer through frustrating shut-downs and re-boots just to run a program you want. so much faster than Virtual PC
As a long-time Apple/Mac user whose office is PC based, I used Virtual PC for years. It saved me the cost of having to buy a Windows PC, but was sometimes agonizingly slow. Parallels on my MacBook runs refreshingly fast. It was fairly easy to install. The only problem with Parallels is that you need to buy a copy of the operating system and install it on Parallels. In my case I bought and installed XP Pro. I had some minor issues when trying to run a wireless app (SlingPlayer), but solved these fairly quickly. All other applications (all business) have installed and run with no problems.
Simple to Use, Value for the Money, Stable
I am not going to repeat all the great things about this product, but I am going to clear up some confusion for the rest of us.Unlike what the other recommender wrote, I had no problems with my Dell Photo 720 USB Printer (maybe s/he forgot to "connect" the printer). In the world of Parallels Desktop for Mac, all devices, e.g. iSight, USB ports, disc drives..., could be connected to either Mac OS X or Windows, but not simulateously. Therefore, his/her USB printer was probably "connected" to Mac OS X but not to Windows.
This is still in Beta
They have no business using you as their venture capitalist and making you pay to be a beta tester. It's chocky full of bugs. i.e. You can't use a USB printer in Windows XP., many more known bugs

PC-Cillin 2007 buggy and resource hog
Well I did install 2007 vice my 2006 edition with these results.
Great
I used Norton for years then switched to Zone Alarm Suite (way to resource intensive), this product out performs both and at a lower overall cost.
Problem
Okay, now that I've had this for a little while, I notice that I'm getting a lot of "This program is not responding" freezes when using the internet. Other than that, I thougt the user interface was improved from the 2006 version now that they allow you to view the name and type of spyware they found, and allows you to remove them one at a time, or all at once.

Rebate Deception
The Dragon Naturally Speaking is a good product which works as advertised. One of the reasons I purchased the program from Amazon was that they were offering a rebate of $44. I downloaded the rebate form and did exactly as instructed. When Naturally Speaking Standard Edition arrived I noticed the UPC Code on the box looked different from the picture on the rebate form. However since I had ordered the program from Amazon and downloaded the accompanying rebate form, I thought, this company is honorable and will stand by their word. I was wrong. I got a notice saying that they were refusing my rebate application. I half-way expected this sort of ruse, but I was very disappointed by this deceptive process. I'm a faithful Amazon customer, but I'll never believe a rebate offer again.
Effort Saver!
I am a transcriptionist from home, and with two children (one of which just started school), I needed a way to cut down on the time it was taking me to transcribe.
Accurate, easy to learn, a life saver
I have tried the voice recognition software that comes with the Microsoft Office XP and after training it and giving it a run-through it just produced too many errors. So I had given up on the voice recognition for my computer a couple of years ago.

Symantec finally listened to users
Finally the bloatware is gone! They've trimmed down the number of running services to an acceptable level, and performance is no longer an issue.
Bad Product
Norton Internet Security 2007 has to be one of the worst products that I have ever purchased. It slowed my PC to an unacceptable level. When I disabled some of its unnecessary functions, it continued to slow my PC and gave me the bonus of irritating & uneccesary notifications/ warnings.I was a longtime, dedicated user of Norton, but that has changed.Try something else and avoid reduction of speed, adding an addtional bar to screen your screen, additional clutter and other deficiencies. If Amazon had a rating for less than one star, I would have given one of those negative ratings.
WARNING **** NOT compatible with Windows 2000
This new version is NOT compatible with Windows 2000 machines and the installer will prevent you from loading it on machines with Windows 2000. This info is also in the small print on the side of the box. I didn't know this before and assumed it would work. McAfee 2007 will work Windows 2000.

Working great so far. No problems.
My mcafee that I get free from my ISP did "okay" but did not offer any anti-spy protection.
Not Bloatware Like Symantec Internet Security
After removing Symantec and installing Zonealarm my computer speeded up by a factor of at least 10.

Norton 2006 is junk
I've been using Norton products since DOS days.Since Symantec bought Norton, the features that historically made Norton products shine have been steadily disappearing.
Do not buy this software!!!
I had the Norton 2005 antivirus on my computer, so 2006 should be no problem, right?Wrong!!!! After >10 hours of on-line "chats" with tech support I finally was able to load this program and eliminate all the "conflicts".. then I tried to send an e-mail...It would not go.... 3 more hours on line chats (one disconnect after about 1 hour...)... still not working!!! Save yourself the agony!Do not buy this product!!!! It is most definately NOT worth the aggrivation!!!
Good service...when it works.
I've been using Symantec's product since right about 1998-2000. I usually bought a new version every 3 years, and just extending the subscription between the time. I've never had any problem with any Norton Anti Virus...so in 2003 I bought the Internet Security suite. I LOVED that program. It worked flawlessly, didn't use up a lot of resources, and I never had any problems with viruses or "blue screens" or what have you.

Insecurity Issues
After using Norton products for the past five years I found myself thoroughly displeased with this one. To me, Norton's best features are its adblocking component, its antivirus protection and its firewall. Unfortunately, immediately after the install my Windows XP control panel froze and I could no longer uninstall any other software. It simply would not work and since I have a lot of software on my PC, it was at the very least, a most irritating feature.
Nortons internet security 2006/bad buy
purchased a new computer. installed nortons internet security 2006 on it and my beautiful, fast, accurate system is now as bad as an early 386!! i can't even uninstall it (Is there a way?) tech support sent me to a website that offered to sell me additional norton's products and no help. i can't even uninstall w/ add remove/ or wipe programs. it hangs up my system whenever i try to access it or other programs as well, forget about being able to see my email! right click on the systems tray icon and the computer freezes. my new system is a mess!!!!! i do not trust norton's any more. i gave it a 1 star because there was no zero choice.
Don't waste your money - if ccapp.exe crashes
If you have tried this program and/or the antivirus and you have seen ccapp.exe errors or your PC crashes unexpectedly, it is because ccapp.exe is a Symantec program.Up until very recently, I had assumed (DUH) it was a Microsoft application. Then I got fed up and called my brother who is somewhat of a computer genius, and he told me right away what it was.I have been using Norton Antivirus and the Security Suite for years now. Always upgrading, usually through the boxed version, (there is a difference between the versions from different years).I have used it on many computers low and high-end and laptops.

Buyer Beware!
If you buy this product simply because you think it will be free after rebate then think twice. A requirement to get the $30 competitive/upgrade rebate is the proof of purchase presumably located in the top inside flap of the box. Believe me, I have looked real hard and cannot find it in the box I have received. Mcafee has decided to include a two page user manual which only outlines the software installation procedure.

Norton Systemworks 2006 DOESN'T work in my system
I hate to criticize any product, especially I have been using Norton anti-virus for years. However, Norton Systemworks, interestingly, unlike its name--It doesn't work for me. It slows me down and need to reboot n times to install it and it was getting slower and slower in each reboot. So, I decided to uninstall it and I need to roboot, reboot, and reboot. After my uninstalling of SW2006, it also took out the antivirus that I already have in my computer. So I need to uninstall my Norton Internet security 2005 then installed it back. Totally hours spent: 8 hours. I installed System Machinic 6 afterwards, it is a way better utility. I am retuning Systemworks back to Norton, thank God that there is a 60 days money-back guarantee. But even there wasn't, I would have done the same to uninstall it and keep it away from my system.
Long-time User Ready to Ditch SystemWorks 2006
I have been purchasing Norton Systemworks for 4 PCs at home for about 8 years. When I installed an update to 2006, it installed OK and worked for about 6 months. Then, during a LiveUpdate session, the LiveUpdate software sat there trying to make a connection and never completed. In subsequent LiveUpdate attempts, the software reports that I can't launch Update because it is already running. I've used their "support" articles, and killed the various processes and relaunched LiveUpdate, but then it just hangs and never makes a connection. When I used their online support, I got a lot of really stupid, time-consuming suggestions such as deleting my DSL connection, turning off my firewall, numerous re-boots, installing an updated LiveUpdate application. One support rep "hung up" on the chat in the middle, and only one out of three support rep's have emailed the chat log I've requested each time. I've used XP's "Remove Software" to uninstall all listed Norton products as well as LiveUpdate, followed by a full reinstall. After the reinstalls, LiveUpdate ran successfully ONCE to update all the out-of-date files, but the next time LiveUpdate attempted to run, it could not make a connection. Same problem. Another "support" chat, who suggested I uninstall and reinstall everything, AGAIN. There are no support articles for the 2006 Systemworks for performing a full removal/uninstall. I specifically asked the support tech for information on registry entries I should check or delete, or other instructions to ensure a full/total removal prior to attempting one more uninstall/reinstall cycle. The support tech said he would email me info and a copy of the chat log, which have never arrived. I have built PCs, diagnosed & repaired numerous software & hardware problems over the years, and direct a corporate IT department. At this point, it really appears that Norton Systemworks has a repeating error, and their support has been useless in helping resolve. I have other things to do with my life than spend multiple days and nights trying to troubleshoot Norton's bloated, underperforming Systemworks software. I still like the Utilities provided in the application; unfortunately Symantec made the decision a few years ago to stop packaging the Utility programs separately. But with 6 months left on my current subscription, but no ability to benefit from it because of Systemworks' inability to run LiveUpdate, I will be looking for a better/replacement product. I doubt I will look at Symantec products in the future. Too bad, Symantec has taken a great product line and made it bloated and unstable, and even Symantec support is virtually helpless to resolve their own problems.
HORRIBLE product
I recently upgraded to the Systemworks 2006, assuming that it was "better and improved". What a mistake! This program has been a headache from the get go. I reformatted my computer prior to the initial install, so I did not expirence the same installation problems that others here did. But I promise, even if you get this installed, it's a mess. First, the GoBack feature is nothing more than a terror that slows your computer and eats your resources. Then the program ended up allowing a virus to get through, and not only could it not remove it, I couldn't manually remove it either. So I had to reformat again, less than a month after it was installed.

Doesn't see my USB Harddrive
I purchased Ghost 10 specifically because of it's claim that it can back up to a separate hard drive through USB. Although I can see my USB HDD in Explorer and in the Computer Management screen and see that everything is working, Ghost 10 doesn't see it in the destination disk drive options.
I can't get it to work at all
There is nothing wrong with my existing hard drive. I am just trying to upgrade to a larger one. Everytime I try to use this program for anything, whether it is for making a disc image or just using some of the utilities, it freezes up right when it starts. The freeze is so deep that mjy whole computer locks up completely and I have to shut it down and restart it again. I have never had any other program make my computer freeze up like that. I'm talking such a deep freeze the mouse pointer freeezes. So deep you can't even CTRL-ALT-DEL to restart. I haven't dealt with stuff like that in about 7 years since I had a much older computer. This product, at least for me, is 100% worthless.
Ghost Recovery will work for some and not work for others
Read the reviews here or on any other Ghost forum and you see the problems so I will not reiterate here. I will say that if you think of buying Ghost 10 or any other back up software, Stop and think before you make that purchase. You can download a trail for FREE. Do that.Run a back up and try to recover and make sure the Recovery is compatible with your hardware. Retest after any hardware change. If you feel comfortable with your product and you like the way it works, then go ahead and buy it. Here are what are argumentatively the top 3 Disk backup software (at least as far as toptenreviews.com writes) and all 3 have a FREE trials. They are Acronis True Image, Paragon Drive Back (which I settled on) and Norton Ghost which needs an external environment that it is compatible with to recover.

Works great for me.
Love the Firewall and use the spyware along with Spysweeper without a problem. Antivirus is fabulous. System has slowed very slightly but good AV programs have a lot of work to do. Still no where near as slow as Norton. This program design and function just instills confidence in me. I keep my system slim and trim and install programs correctly but all I can say is, it works great for me.
Sometimes You Get More than You Pay For - Unfortunately
I upgraded to this latest version of the McAfee product, wanting only the VirusScan, which has served me well over many years. Unfortunately, you must now accept a "suite" of solutions that McAfee deems in your best interest. If you need the functionality of the whole suite, you may be satisfied - or not. If you only want one component, you bought a truckload of trouble. It claims to be user-configurable. You will get a lot of practice at this because the product resets to McAfee's default configuration every few days. It requires considerable time and effort to drill down and disable each item in that configuration. But you have little choice. The program will nag you without mercy until you are "fully protected" - every time you boot up. One McAfee-dictated setting is a deep scan of your system every morning. You probably know that can pretty much tie up your processor for the rest of the day. McAfee Customer Service has been, well, politely quiet. In my view McAfee VirusScan has become a virus with an innovative Auto-nag feature.
Will NOT play well with other programs you may want to keep
Pro:Buy this only if you need all 3 programs and do not already have any of them.

Don't Buy It
Installing ZoneAlarm on my XP computer made boot-up time over four minutes and made MS Outlook useless.I could not remove ZoneAlarm from the computer and was only able to save the computer with "system restore".Get some other software to protect your computer!!
The best of the One-Stop computer security packages
This is a great product from an established company that needs more recognition. It's major problem is that it's a security suite and security suties are imperfect.
GARBAGE
I have been using this product, but the '06 version, for almost a month now. Each day, i am more frustrated by it. At first the program control got set to high, i set it down, it works good. firewall was set too high also, lowered, still having problems, any lower it would be "firewall off" and thats the low setting. This 'program'will give you lots of grief. why?

Excellent !
Product came in a timely manner and I love it. Easy to use and fun too.
Not worth the money
This is the first time I have ever reviewed a product and I do it so that no one else will waste their money on this.It adds virtually nothing to XP.Too bad they didn't make it as interesting as their packaged media edition. That would have been worth the money, but old Bill who doesn't want to be the richest man in the world would rather you spend money on a new PC to get that product. The themes are nice but far too few for the price. The games are a gimmick since you have to pay to play the real things. The DJ is dumb and the dancers are cute but after a while boring.Hard to figure out how to use the music converter and photo stuff.Too bad could have been something but in its present form, not worth the money.
Not worth the hassle
I purchased this software thinking that I could take my digital images, create a slide show with music, and then burn it to dvd for the family to watch.

Word
the only reason i bought this was because i didn't have microsoft word and i wanted it but the problem is trying to find it without having to buy the entire office program of works. i wish they would just sell it by itself. so instead of the Word program you get a word processor that only has a few small differences with the actual Word program like it is missing a built in Thesaraus. there are a few other small differences but the program is completely compatible with the Word program. you can save and edit Word documents. that was all i really wanted to begin with. so if you want a cheeper way to get Microsoft Word or something really similar to it, this is the way to go.
Not a bad product but there are better for product for free
I have been using Works for years as I had used Microsoft Office but I never used anything more than Works offered for a tenth of the price. The new version 8 is a good step up until I tried Sun Open Office which is free. This product is a full blown office suite and it is free. I doubt this will get posted but try both work and open office and see yourself
Updating Software
Keeping my software up to date is important to me.I was no longer able to update Microsoft Works 99; and it had become an important adjunct.I was glad that Amazon had the new version at a reasonable price. My previous saved files were updated with the new installation with no problems.

Finally a Great Antivirus!
I used to have Norton for years. After all it was the industry standard, but after it let many a virus slip on through; I had enough.
Best Security Software on the Market!!
I was recommended this software by Amazon Merchant Xpresstech in 2003 and have been using it ever since. This is an excellent product and it is the least intrusive of all similar products!
Save your money and get something else
After a couple of months of working perfectly, the software said that the registation is invalid (I purchased a 1 yr subscription, so this error message should not appear). After going thru all the knowledge base on Trend Micro's website, none of the solution worked. I contacted Trend Micro and it seems that all they can do is cut and paste the same solutions off their website and send them via email. After couple hours of headaches and no progress, I decided to uninstall the software and going to get some other anti-virus software. Save your money and don't even bother with Trend Micro, their product will just stop working prematurely and their tech support is awful.

Very useful software
You can do many things without using the pen or the keyboard. I would like more commands were added to this software. Something bad is you can not use the hadsfree button of your PDA phone as the Voice Command Button.
Excellent product, but lacks few features
This is an excellent product by Microsoft. This software recognizes any kind of english accent very easily.I use a Cingular 8125 pocket pc and dialing is a pain in this pocket pc without such a tool as you will mostly need the stylus to dial which is not at all practical while driving.
Pretty good. Amazing program
I wanted this for the safety. Driving down the road and looking for a phone number is just crazy. Voice Command solves that problem. Just mention who you want to all and keep on going. There are some times when it struggles with name recognition. Arnold Schwarzeneger would be a tough one but it generally gets it right. Works with every name in the address book, tells you when you have appointments, can be used to start software programs, and probably some more stuff I haven't figured out yet.

WORKS FOR ME
IT does slow your computer down a little, but I would rather have that then have a software not catch it. I am very happy with Webroot's products. I also have used Window Washer for over 10 years.I have tested Lava-Soft SE, Norton,& Zone Alarms anti-spy programs. Seems they all catch something the other ones missed. But Spy sweeper has caught the most serious ones.
Two Problems
My OS is Windows XP Pro SP2.
Terrible
I have been using Spysweeper for years and liked it.No more.I have a older machine that runs well.Until I put 5.0 on it.This is a case of the cure being worse than the disease!ONLY consider this if you are running over a gig of memory at above 2 GHz.Probably need a dual core and a huge L2 cache with RAID 0 twin hard drives, too.Even then, once you up-grade to VISTA (Spring '07 (?!)) forget about it!SO if you spent $2000+ on a box this spring or $1500+ on a box this summer you might want to consider this POC. (Be sure to ask Webroot about VISTA compatibility).
