Great Product
I like to keep my computer well maintained to prevent the usual slow down over time.
Diskeeper 10 is a Ten in my Book
I am so happy that I purchased Diskeeper 10. It runs in the background and I am totally defragged in 27 minutes instead of 3 to 4 hours with other products that I used. The 'Set It and Forget It' feature is fantastic. It does just that - you set it up as to when you may want to defrag or set it at 'continuous' and it does it while you work. Your first defrag will take awhile but thereafter its' a breeze. Don't be put off by FragShield. I called Diskeeper after reading the problem that one reviewer had and they fully explained what it was and said if I decide to use it and am not sure of what to do, just call them back. You can also follow the procedure outlined by Scott L. Sutherland, one of the other reviewers.

All of us appreciate those of you who take the time to write your reviews. What's become clear is that many programs function differently depending on what kind of computer you're using. So, to help those of us who are shopping for a program, would it be possible for everyone at the beginning of their review to include the following info: Computer manufacturer, model number, processor, and year of purchase? Maybe that way, we could start to see some trends for which computers work well with certain programs.thanks

Does a good job of cleaning but hurts performance
About a month ago I installed System Mechanic 6 after picking it up on sale at Costco - went with a PC World review that this program is the second-best on the market.
Like blue screens? Then this one's for you!
Usually mechanics fix things. In the case of System Mechanic 6 the idea seems to be to un-fix things. This software is buggier than a bait store and a waste of cash at best. At worst it's a system destroyer.

Excellent product if you have XP Professional
This is the better utility software I ever used. The other I used was Norton Systemworks 2006. Systemworks slowed me down too much and were not even 100% compatible with its earlier version of internet security. I don't think systemworks works for me any way. By comparison, System Mechanic 6 does do a much much better job.It makes my computer run faster and so easy and fast to install and I like it a lot. I will recommend whoever wants to buy a similar product to go to the manufacture's website and try it to test if it works for your machine. For those who don't have time to do the test, I suggest you buy SM6.
A Product should be sued for waste Customer time!

If you like to have some control over your PC ...
This is not the product!System Mechanic 6 attempts to automate maintenance decisions, but the user is unable to tell what decisions / changes are made.When BAD changes are made, it is practically impossible to diagnose what went wrong.In my experience, it makes MANY bad decisions and the only recourse is to reverse the changes made. Sometimes this is not easy and it takes some clever manipulation at boot time, etc.This software is not recommended. ... Read more

One of the great programs!
Remember XTree? It could do just about everything. Conversions Plus, though a different kind of program, is also one of the great programs ever written. It Works!!!

good Software for most Computers ...
I worked with the Fix It Utilities 5.0 on my old Computer and now with my new Laptop. Fix It Utilities can find much more than Norton or Advanced System Optimizer and it keeps your registry clean. I know that my friend is also very contented. But one other friend of mine had that case where it was like in L. Young description. It happens in his case when you run FixUp "Diagnose and fix system problems" and it suddenly stops in the middle of the procedure the whole program without a message or anything. I would have given the Software 5 stars otherwise ...

Been with Fix-it utilities since.3.0 This is the best especially for Windows xp. The all in one wizard is excellent.Start it and then go do what you need to do.Check in later and marvel at what it got rid of safely on your computer.
Disappointed
I bought this software to help clean up my computer and I can't even get it to run half the features.It just locks up, no errors or anything.I don't even have that problem with my other programs. ... Read more

Stuffit Deluxe is wonderful
and it does compress to zip files. Almost as well as sit files. for cross platform compatibility, it does better than most programs designed to do just that. I'd purchase this product if you are looking for any sort of pc to mac transfer at all. it makes things so much easier.

StuffIt was the premiere archiving utililty for the Macintosh.The Windows version is just an adequate product.It serves it's purpose well, but .SIT files are rather rare on the Windows platform.If you need interchangeability, look for WinZIP or WinRAR.Both .ZIP and .RAR files are much, much more common in Windows than are .SIT files. ...
