Very Effective
This program does a great job of defragmenting the harddrive quickly and keeps it defragmented. You can schedule it to run on any schedule you like. I am very pleased with it.
Good software for the money
The user interface isn't as polished as the full version of diskeeper and it lacks some defrag options that I'm used to like the option to defrag hard drive while screen saver is on.
Great!
This product works so much better than the Windows delivered defrag program.I have not used many other defrag programs but this one is wonderful, easy to use and does a smart placement to help the efficiency of the hard drive. There very well could be other products out there, but I'm not sure how they could defrag the drive any better.

Powerful, easy-to-use backup solution
PC Backup is great.I've decided to stay away from all Norton products after Norton System Works completely destroyed my registry.A co-worker recommended Stompsoft's PC Backup as an alternative to Norton Ghost and it's been a joy to use.I've had two hard drive crashes in the last 6-7 months and I've been able to restore the system to exactly the way it was each time.Turns out we had a defective hard drive.
Great Software -- Never Had A Problem
I sympathize that some people here have had frustration with an aspect of the software, but I honestly have to say that I cannot relate at all to what they're saying. I've been using StompSoft PC BackUp for quite some time now and I've never had a single issue with the software. It does everything it's supposed to and never crashed my system. It does take about five or ten minutes to finish the backup, but I do have a lot of stuff on my computer so I'm not surprised. Based on my personal experience, I would highly recommend using StompSoft's PC BackUp.
I should have read actual user reviews -- DO NOT BUY THIS
I made the mistake of reading online reviews, but not actual user experiences that were posted here and purchased this software. It takes this software literally DAYS to back up a mere 40 gigs. And other users are correct about Stompsoft's absolute travesty of a customer support system both online and on phone.None of my emails have been answered, and I actually stayed on hold for TWO HOURS and got no answer.

Excellent product if you have XP Professional
This is the better utility software I ever used. The other I used was Norton Systemworks 2006. Systemworks slowed me down too much and were not even 100% compatible with its earlier version of internet security. I don't think systemworks works for me any way. By comparison, System Mechanic 6 does do a much much better job.It makes my computer run faster and so easy and fast to install and I like it a lot. I will recommend whoever wants to buy a similar product to go to the manufacture's website and try it to test if it works for your machine. For those who don't have time to do the test, I suggest you buy SM6.
A Product should be sued for waste Customer time!
I would give a nagtive -100 score if there is.
If you like to have some control over your PC ...
This is not the product!System Mechanic 6 attempts to automate maintenance decisions, but the user is unable to tell what decisions / changes are made. When BAD changes are made, it is practically impossible to diagnose what went wrong. In my experience, it makes MANY bad decisions and the only recourse is to reverse the changes made. Sometimes this is not easy and it takes some clever manipulation at boot time, etc. This software is not recommended.

Features CD-ROMPentium 100, 8 MB RAM, 5 MB Hard drive, CD-ROM Drive.WEBROOT SOFTWAREPC ProductsAn essential tool for detecting and eliminating spy programs, ad-ware, keystroke loggers, Trojan Horses and other products that compromise your privacy
Reviews (33)
My short review
Overall, I was pretty impressed with what Webroot offered in their SpySweeper program. It had some nice features to go along with keeping spyware and ad's undercontrol (ad-blocker).The older build of the software program operated the same when you upgrade to the newest build. The program would always alert you when there was a potential risk of spyware and would constantly monitor your internet traffic for risks. One thing I didn't like about the program was the fact that is was a bit of a resource hog.I've got a decent amount of RAM in my system, but it bogged things down in a sense...My mistake though in the end, cause I also used Norton alongside it, so that was probably why, but I had to reformat one time and put SpySweeper on my system first and it still took up quite a bit of resources. To conclude, SpySweeper is a reliable program that will protect against threats of spyware and I'm sure the program will get better over the years.
Best software of the year and technical excellence!
Since a long time ago, I always have had problems with spyware and malware which make my computer runs slow and cause other problems. I tried many utility software like Adware and other similar software, but these software did not eliminate all the problems, and some of the firewalls block not only adware and spyware, they block almost anything. Thus, it made my netlife almost impossible to live and caused too many headaches.
Version 4.5.9 (build 709) Works better than others
I suddenly started having odd windows popup. I ran and reran Adware the paid version not the freebie. It found a few things. This went on for a couple of weeks and after the daily updates nothing changed. I kept getting popups.. So I downloaded spybot as well and ran it. It found a couple of more things but still the popups came... I downloaded the free scan from spy sweeper and ran it.. It found 2 memory resident ezula and clkoptimizer right off the bat..... It also successfully cleaned these as well.. It also found many more items.. This after scanning with 2 other products.......

Stay away
Unlike the other reviewers, I tried the Real Time transfer. What a nightmare! It didn't work at all. Their packaging says you can get support at their web site. Yet at their site, not only is this product not even listed in the knowledge base or troubleshooting sections, but the site isn't even FINISHED. Most pages have a "coming soon" (with no specifics of whether "soon" is next week, next month, a year from now - or a year ago). At this late stage in the evolution of the World Wide Web, there's simply no excuse for sending your customers to the dead end of a site that's still under construction.
Should be 0 stars!!!
Boy, am I sorry I didn't read that last review
Just Terrible - what a disappointment
Based upon the good performance of Backup My PC by the same publisher, I purchased this product. What a waste of time and money. It offers no advantage over the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard in XP and, what is more, doesn't seem to work.I did the deferred transfer - which the user guide tells me to copy the data to a folder and then copy it to the destination machine.I did this three times- and it is painfully slow. Then each time the destination machine could not run the created .exe file (which it is supposed to do) and gave an error message that this was not a valid windows executable file. When I tried to reach Stompsoft for help, I was on hold for more than 45 minutes and finally gave up.I went back to the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard in XP which worked in about 1/3 the time and was just fine.I would ask StompSoft for my money back but I don't want to be on hold for another hour.

V-Com
Although I have not used System Commander 8.0, I did feel the need to comment about V-Com and there Tech Support.
DOS Skills Were Essential
Interesting comments here about Sys Cmdr.. Perhaps my comments won't be accepted cuz they relate to an earlier version (5) but I think I can offer some insight. But first, let's remember that this is Amazon.com, and Amazon should not be tarnished cuz of some software company that can't get their act together. Amazon is okie-dokie with me. No gripe whatever.... I came here looking for info about this newer ver 8. I'm currently a ver. 5 user of Sys Cmdr. I will agree with others who state that V-Comm is bad on customer service. They are horrible. One fellow said "non-existent" I'll agree on that. However, I wonder about the bug reports. I would think vers. 8 to be less buggy than vers. 5. What many might think to be bugs is the way you go about things. Sys Cmdr is an animal one must "get acquainted with". If I hadn't learned my DOS, I would say I would've just thrown in the towel. I know, they don't publicize that, and this is not the best marketing, but being able to get down dirty in the DOS mud really helps. I've never tried to use Sys Cmdr installed to ANY version of Windows, only DOS 6.22. The only nasty bug I can complain of is when you have a partition with lots of data inside, Sys Cmdr will report "you're out of memory- cannot complete blah blah operation..." But that is not the end of the world. There is a way around this, if you think for a minute. But as for copying partitions- let's say, your startup, day-to-day partition, to a backup hard drive, ( 2nd hard drive), which is a mighty good idea before installing a new program, who's behavior is not known, Sys Cmdr will do the job. And if that new prog bombs out, you can just delete the screwed up partition on the boot drive and then COPY BACK the backup to the boot drive. This sounds like Windows Roll Back procedure, but it's better, much better. If you want a separate partition to run your favorite game, you can use Sys Cmdr to boot to just this partition, or boot to your Internet partition. I don't see a problem with the product once you know how this animal lives and breathes. I did bump the RESET button twice, rapidly (by mistake) one day, and soon discovered all my partitions were gone. How much of this do we blame to Sys Cmdr, and how much to the motherboard? Who knows. I've seen strange things happen. So I guess my big gripe is, V-Comm treats customers with little or no respect, and they don't have common sense in laying out the product or the instructions, but for those with that junk yard dog attitude, that just refuse to give up until their leg is eaten away, Sys Cmdr can be used to great advantage. When I migrated to Win 98se from the Macintosh 7 years ago, I would never have made it without Sys Cmdr version 5. It's a program that requires patience. One gentleman here said "read the book". He's right about that, even tho it's convoluted. The info is in there. You just gotta let it soak in. Once you see how it goes together, you'll learn to love Sys Cmdr, and at the same time, despise the stooges that produce it. The advantage of Sys Cmdr 8 is it allows use with Xp. One comment here gave the product the devil related to DOS. This man must be doing something wrong, because DOS is the simplest way to get Sys Cmdr running, the easiest of all.Sorry if this is too long. Delete if unacceptable. Hope this helps someone.
Complete Nightmare
Tried to install MS-Dos 6.22 on my XP and it crashed.Got this UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME blue screen of death and lost everything.I mean everything!Had to re-install XP and FORMAT THE HARD DRIVE to survive. This product is a disaster.

A very good firewall, and a possible alternative to the bloated symantec firewall.
Im am using the webroot desk top firewall on one machine as an alternative to the bloated symantec firewall.I find it keeps my laptop with a 60 gig hard drive both protected, and super fast.Machine start up in standby is 5 seconds.A full start-up is less than one minute. The firewall lets more stuff through, but keeps the junk out.Yes webroot offers free technical support and they will walk you through redownloads,or installations.Webroot offers real support with spyware addware malware and hybrid trojans that are ignored by the competition Webroot cares about its customers, and yes they know what they are doing unlike that big antivirus company, that doesnt care.5 star recommended. I thank you Stewart L.

For once I'm happy
Simple to install, simple to use, and it works! What more could you ask for?
I agreed with the other users. This one is a keeper!
Justed wanted a quick and easy PC clutter cleaner. Tried a bunch of shareware, but did not trust them when they said scanning. What were they scanning for? My credit cards? Then I came across this one at Amazon and followed through to the website. They are also sold through most retailers and have other products. I wanted non-shareware because you cannot trust any software on the net these days.
It works
Ok, the product does what it claims. It cleaned up a bunch of crap from my computer the first time I used it.It cleared out 334 invalid regisrty items and 1753 temp files, recovering a total of 3658.82 mb.
