1-0 out of 5 stars Random Freezes = Crashware
Same random "freezes" are happening on my machine while using Firefox. Horrible product... more like a virus than a "virus checker". Another fun annoyance is with Onecare backups. Try deleting the file from your external hard drive... can't do it... not even after applying "Sharing" attributes as suggested by MS. This is more like a "freeware" app than a major software product produced by MS.

2-0 out of 5 stars OneCare or CareLess?
I installed OneCare on a new up-to-date computer. Right off, Windows Explorer started saying "A fault in the program had occured." Within a couple of days, my new computer had a trojan but was caught by Spybot Search and Destroy thankfully. This was a known trojan, though updated software, why didn't OneCare catch it in the "real times monitoring"? I deleted out OneCare to replace it with Norton, and noticed that the "Program Faults" also stopped. This program is plain Jane, without many options. It may become better with time, as this one is a Beta version *having to PAY to test it for them*
5-0 out of 5 stars This Program Is Great
Finally Microsoft got around to creating something useful! This application rolls anti-virus, anti-spyware, firewall, backup / restore, and tune-up to Windows XP.What sets this aside from other more traditional utilities is Microsoft's way of seamlessly integrating these new features right into Windows XP.What's more, it automatically updates, and for just one program box, they will allow you to install it on up to 3 computers! It's a bargain. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Norton 2006 is junk
I've been using Norton products since DOS days.Since Symantec bought Norton, the features that historically made Norton products shine have been steadily disappearing.
1-0 out of 5 stars Do not buy this software!!!
I had the Norton 2005 antivirus on my computer, so 2006 should be no problem, right?Wrong!!!! After >10 hours of on-line "chats" with tech support I finally was able to load this program and eliminate all the "conflicts".. then I tried to send an e-mail...It would not go.... 3 more hours on line chats (one disconnect after about 1 hour...)... still not working!!! Save yourself the agony!Do not buy this product!!!! It is most definately NOT worth the aggrivation!!!

2-0 out of 5 stars Good service...when it works.
I've been using Symantec's product since right about 1998-2000. I usually bought a new version every 3 years, and just extending the subscription between the time. I've never had any problem with any Norton Anti Virus...so in 2003 I bought the Internet Security suite. I LOVED that program. It worked flawlessly, didn't use up a lot of resources, and I never had any problems with viruses or "blue screens" or what have you.

2-0 out of 5 stars Insecurity Issues
After using Norton products for the past five years I found myself thoroughly displeased with this one. To me, Norton's best features are its adblocking component, its antivirus protection and its firewall. Unfortunately, immediately after the install my Windows XP control panel froze and I could no longer uninstall any other software. It simply would not work and since I have a lot of software on my PC, it was at the very least, a most irritating feature.
1-0 out of 5 stars Nortons internet security 2006/bad buy
purchased a new computer. installed nortons internet security 2006 on it and my beautiful, fast, accurate system is now as bad as an early 386!! i can't even uninstall it (Is there a way?) tech support sent me to a website that offered to sell me additional norton's products and no help. i can't even uninstall w/ add remove/ or wipe programs. it hangs up my system whenever i try to access it or other programs as well, forget about being able to see my email! right click on the systems tray icon and the computer freezes. my new system is a mess!!!!! i do not trust norton's any more. i gave it a 1 star because there was no zero choice.

2-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money - if ccapp.exe crashes
If you have tried this program and/or the antivirus and you have seen ccapp.exe errors or your PC crashes unexpectedly, it is because ccapp.exe is a Symantec program.Up until very recently, I had assumed (DUH) it was a Microsoft application. Then I got fed up and called my brother who is somewhat of a computer genius, and he told me right away what it was.I have been using Norton Antivirus and the Security Suite for years now. Always upgrading, usually through the boxed version, (there is a difference between the versions from different years).I have used it on many computers low and high-end and laptops.

1-0 out of 5 stars Norton Systemworks 2006 DOESN'T work in my system
I hate to criticize any product, especially I have been using Norton anti-virus for years. However, Norton Systemworks, interestingly, unlike its name--It doesn't work for me. It slows me down and need to reboot n times to install it and it was getting slower and slower in each reboot. So, I decided to uninstall it and I need to roboot, reboot, and reboot. After my uninstalling of SW2006, it also took out the antivirus that I already have in my computer. So I need to uninstall my Norton Internet security 2005 then installed it back. Totally hours spent: 8 hours. I installed System Machinic 6 afterwards, it is a way better utility. I am retuning Systemworks back to Norton, thank God that there is a 60 days money-back guarantee. But even there wasn't, I would have done the same to uninstall it and keep it away from my system.
1-0 out of 5 stars Long-time User Ready to Ditch SystemWorks 2006
I have been purchasing Norton Systemworks for 4 PCs at home for about 8 years. When I installed an update to 2006, it installed OK and worked for about 6 months. Then, during a LiveUpdate session, the LiveUpdate software sat there trying to make a connection and never completed. In subsequent LiveUpdate attempts, the software reports that I can't launch Update because it is already running. I've used their "support" articles, and killed the various processes and relaunched LiveUpdate, but then it just hangs and never makes a connection. When I used their online support, I got a lot of really stupid, time-consuming suggestions such as deleting my DSL connection, turning off my firewall, numerous re-boots, installing an updated LiveUpdate application. One support rep "hung up" on the chat in the middle, and only one out of three support rep's have emailed the chat log I've requested each time. I've used XP's "Remove Software" to uninstall all listed Norton products as well as LiveUpdate, followed by a full reinstall. After the reinstalls, LiveUpdate ran successfully ONCE to update all the out-of-date files, but the next time LiveUpdate attempted to run, it could not make a connection. Same problem. Another "support" chat, who suggested I uninstall and reinstall everything, AGAIN. There are no support articles for the 2006 Systemworks for performing a full removal/uninstall. I specifically asked the support tech for information on registry entries I should check or delete, or other instructions to ensure a full/total removal prior to attempting one more uninstall/reinstall cycle. The support tech said he would email me info and a copy of the chat log, which have never arrived. I have built PCs, diagnosed & repaired numerous software & hardware problems over the years, and direct a corporate IT department. At this point, it really appears that Norton Systemworks has a repeating error, and their support has been useless in helping resolve. I have other things to do with my life than spend multiple days and nights trying to troubleshoot Norton's bloated, underperforming Systemworks software. I still like the Utilities provided in the application; unfortunately Symantec made the decision a few years ago to stop packaging the Utility programs separately. But with 6 months left on my current subscription, but no ability to benefit from it because of Systemworks' inability to run LiveUpdate, I will be looking for a better/replacement product. I doubt I will look at Symantec products in the future. Too bad, Symantec has taken a great product line and made it bloated and unstable, and even Symantec support is virtually helpless to resolve their own problems.

1-0 out of 5 stars HORRIBLE product
I recently upgraded to the Systemworks 2006, assuming that it was "better and improved". What a mistake! This program has been a headache from the get go. I reformatted my computer prior to the initial install, so I did not expirence the same installation problems that others here did. But I promise, even if you get this installed, it's a mess. First, the GoBack feature is nothing more than a terror that slows your computer and eats your resources. Then the program ended up allowing a virus to get through, and not only could it not remove it, I couldn't manually remove it either. So I had to reformat again, less than a month after it was installed. Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Doesn't see my USB Harddrive
I purchased Ghost 10 specifically because of it's claim that it can back up to a separate hard drive through USB. Although I can see my USB HDD in Explorer and in the Computer Management screen and see that everything is working, Ghost 10 doesn't see it in the destination disk drive options.
1-0 out of 5 stars I can't get it to work at all
There is nothing wrong with my existing hard drive. I am just trying to upgrade to a larger one. Everytime I try to use this program for anything, whether it is for making a disc image or just using some of the utilities, it freezes up right when it starts. The freeze is so deep that mjy whole computer locks up completely and I have to shut it down and restart it again. I have never had any other program make my computer freeze up like that. I'm talking such a deep freeze the mouse pointer freeezes. So deep you can't even CTRL-ALT-DEL to restart. I haven't dealt with stuff like that in about 7 years since I had a much older computer. This product, at least for me, is 100% worthless.

3-0 out of 5 stars Ghost Recovery will work for some and not work for others
Read the reviews here or on any other Ghost forum and you see the problems so I will not reiterate here. I will say that if you think of buying Ghost 10 or any other back up software, Stop and think before you make that purchase. You can download a trail for FREE. Do that.Run a back up and try to recover and make sure the Recovery is compatible with your hardware. Retest after any hardware change. If you feel comfortable with your product and you like the way it works, then go ahead and buy it. Here are what are argumentatively the top 3 Disk backup software (at least as far as toptenreviews.com writes) and all 3 have a FREE trials. They are Acronis True Image, Paragon Drive Back (which I settled on) and Norton Ghost which needs an external environment that it is compatible with to recover. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Works great for me.
Love the Firewall and use the spyware along with Spysweeper without a problem. Antivirus is fabulous. System has slowed very slightly but good AV programs have a lot of work to do. Still no where near as slow as Norton. This program design and function just instills confidence in me. I keep my system slim and trim and install programs correctly but all I can say is, it works great for me.

1-0 out of 5 stars Sometimes You Get More than You Pay For - Unfortunately
I upgraded to this latest version of the McAfee product, wanting only the VirusScan, which has served me well over many years. Unfortunately, you must now accept a "suite" of solutions that McAfee deems in your best interest. If you need the functionality of the whole suite, you may be satisfied - or not. If you only want one component, you bought a truckload of trouble. It claims to be user-configurable. You will get a lot of practice at this because the product resets to McAfee's default configuration every few days. It requires considerable time and effort to drill down and disable each item in that configuration. But you have little choice. The program will nag you without mercy until you are "fully protected" - every time you boot up. One McAfee-dictated setting is a deep scan of your system every morning. You probably know that can pretty much tie up your processor for the rest of the day. McAfee Customer Service has been, well, politely quiet. In my view McAfee VirusScan has become a virus with an innovative Auto-nag feature.

2-0 out of 5 stars Will NOT play well with other programs you may want to keep
Pro:Buy this only if you need all 3 programs and do not already have any of them.

Installing ZoneAlarm on my XP computer made boot-up time over four minutes and made MS Outlook useless.I could not remove ZoneAlarm from the computer and was only able to save the computer with "system restore".Get some other software to protect your computer!!

5-0 out of 5 stars The best of the One-Stop computer security packages
This is a great product from an established company that needs more recognition. It's major problem is that it's a security suite and security suties are imperfect.

I have been using this product, but the '06 version, for almost a month now. Each day, i am more frustrated by it. 5-0 out of 5 stars Kaspersky Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware is the best available
Kaspersky is full function, easy to use, and does not over burden my desktop.I like the ability to set it for hourly updates which are typically 40-60kb and my computer doesn't even blink when the update happens. I appreciate the full protection and ease of use and it is well worth the money. [...]

5-0 out of 5 stars So Easy
Kaspersky was so easy to install and get up and running I could not belive it. The hourly updates are great! The update files are so small you don't notice that it's happening. After I installed and ran Kaspersky it found viruses and spyware that AGV and Adaware let through. You can't go wrong.

2-0 out of 5 stars Curse of the Anti-Virus Software Writers
What is it with the folks who write this kind of software? It must be reeeaally hard to do, because no one seems to get it completely right, including Kaspersky.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Breath of Freshly-Sanitized Air
In the interest of full-disclosure, yes, I previously owned and used Norton Anti-Virus on my Mac.Eventually, though, I got so irritated with it that I dumped all things Norton off of my system.Since installing Virus Barrier, however, I've still had no viruses get me, but also don't have the ridiculous intrusiveness and clunkiness of Norton Anti-Virus.Ahhh...that IS refreshing.
5-0 out of 5 stars Easy use intego virus barrier x410,4
Switched to this product because of the claim of easy installation. It was easy to install and came with an exceedingly readable writeup on viruses. Fully satisfied.

1-0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT
Extremely difficult to unistall. Endless loop. Do NOT buy this product or if you do then be prepared for an exremely fustrating experience. I will never use NAV again.

2-0 out of 5 stars Program works fine, if you can get it installed
This program works after it's installed, but the installation process is unbelievably flawed. If you have a version of Norton on your computer already, this may cause all kinds of problems with the new installation. Not only did I have to uninstall all versions (after Norton lets you install the new one), but I had to make a bunch of changes to Windows, also.
4-0 out of 5 stars its a good software

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy to Use
I found that Disk Director Suite worked for expanding the partition on my C: drive without any problems. The interface is all menu driven and very simple to use. I did not try to use the software for anything else and cannot comment on the complaints reported by others on this site. If you only want to expand partitions, as I did, the software worked great and was priced lower than the competitive products.

5-0 out of 5 stars fast, full featured, reliable
I bought this after several failed attempts to duplicate my boot partition for backup purposes useing Symantec Partition Magic 8.This product not only did the job quickly, but easier than PM8, and it supports UBS/Firewire drives when using the bootable disk (which PM8 does not).

1-0 out of 5 stars Multiple crashes -- unacceptable quality.
The program crashed during Setup. When I finally got it installed, it crashed my machine every night until I uninstalled it.
5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful product!
I am a s/w professional and I been using this product suite for the last 2 years and i am happy with this. This is a wonderful product except Pestpatrol which made my system very slower (sometimes) during startup.

1-0 out of 5 stars Horrible Software!
Found the registration number difficult to read. Had to have customer service tell me that they run into this all the time! The I's look like 1's. Tried it again! I got it to load. My computer slowed down significantly! Certain sites I could not access anymore without re-configuring the software. I have used Norton. MCaffee or whatever, and other suite type security software. This one was the worst. I would not recommend it. I got a well deserved refund. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Norton Internet Security 2007
By way of review, here's one previously satisfied Symantec customer's experience with this product. Basically, if you get tempted into buying the proferred online bundle that includes Norton Internet Security 2007 and Norton Systemworks 2006, then for the love of God do not install the latter! Furthermore, do some research online about buying another company's AV products!
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent, effectively upgraded program
I have used Norton Internet security for years and have been generally well pleased with it. There have been many negative comments regarding slowing down computers, poor customer service, and a bloated unfriendly interface. Although I have not tried my 3 GHz 2GB workstation with and without the program, I have found no noticeable difficulties with spry, efficient computer response running multiple applications including Photoshop with large files. As I am not a "gamer",I cannot comment on its impact on performance in many resource hungry software programs in that category. Most likely, many of the complaints come from individuals with computers with slower CPU's and less memory where IS's resources demands impinge on overall capacity to perform at acceptable efficiency.I have also not experienced software conflicts with other programs including multiple other spyware, adware programs I use contemporaneously. Of interest, running IS 6 on a second computer with a 2.3 GHz and only 512 MB of RAM, I have experienced no significant slowing of computer function, nor incompatibility with multiple spyware programs, but I have not tried IS 7 on that machine.I'm inclined to think that the warnings may be exaggerated.

2-0 out of 5 stars Very disappointed
I've worked with Norton AntiVirus (the consumer product) and Symantec AntiVirus (the corporate product) for PCs and they're great.
1-0 out of 5 stars Huge Waste of Money
I used to be a Norton true believer, for years using everything they sold.Ever since Apple went to OS X, though, Norton has been falling down on the job.
1-0 out of 5 stars Stability Problems on Intel-based Macs
My happy MacBook Pro was working perfectly until I installed Norton Anti-Virus. Within a few hours, I started experiencing random system crashes -- hard freezes where I had to kill the power to the system.Using the "what has changed?" troubleshooting approach, I uninstalled Norton Anti-Virus, and the system has been super-stable again ever since.

1-0 out of 5 stars Garbage
As a user of this and other Norton products and as a tech-support professional, I must tell you that the bad reviews are true. I used to be a big fan of Norton products until recently.
1-0 out of 5 stars Junk - Symantec should be ashamed
Search for Amazon item number 10099566 to see an overwhelming number of bad reviews of Norton AntiSpam 2004.They didn't improve the product much in the 2005 version. It is really disgusting that Symantec has leveraged the Norton brand, formerly known for quality, with the cynical money grab that is Norton AntiSpam.Absolute junk software, with comically bad support.I hope to see a class action lawsuit against Symantec for selling this product that they certainly know is defective in a myriad of ways.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not worth Buying
I purchased the Norton Internet Security with the Norton Antispam hoping that it would eventualy solve my ever increasing amounts of spam in my inbox
