4-0 out of 5 stars Great if you want to train Pitch Accuracy!
I am an above average singer and want to take the next step to becoming a professional and found that my pitch accuracy needed some help. Problem is that I can't always hear when I'm off pitch and have to depend on my husband to tell me - which is a pain when you're a singer. I got this program for that purpose which is to train this very important part of singing. I would definitely recommend this program if you are a beginning singer - it will help with understanding the basics and pitch accuracy. If you are an intermediate singer or expert singer this can still help you - not in improving your vocal flexibility, range or tone (I recommend Brett Manning's Singing Success CD set for that), but if you want to improve pitch accuracy.I must say in the week that I've had this, I think I've improved. Yes it is a cheesy program - with lots of cheesy animated characters but it is easy to skip this stuff if it annoys you as it does me. I just wish that we could have more interesting songs on the program - the songs that already come with the program are songs like Amazing Grace and Danny Boy - which are good but get a little boring. This gives you 12 free downloads of better songs (i.e. pop etc.) but I do wish it was 20 or something like that. Would be nice if Carry a Tune had a bigger selection of songs - like I couldn't find a single Jewel song! That's my only real gripe. I'm pretty happy with it overall...

2-0 out of 5 stars Misleading
I was expecting much more than what I got. There are 25 songs but they're all juvenile songs. You can download some but I guess I just expected more help with pitch than what this provides. For the money, it's not worth it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome software
I picked this product up recently and I have to say it is even better than advertised. It gies you everything it says it does and more and works great. The fact that I can see my voice on the screen is amazing and in real time no less.

    5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent !
Product came in a timely manner and I love it. Easy to use and fun too.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money
This is the first time I have ever reviewed a product and I do it so that no one else will waste their money on this.It adds virtually nothing to XP.Too bad they didn't make it as interesting as their packaged media edition. That would have been worth the money, but old Bill who doesn't want to be the richest man in the world would rather you spend money on a new PC to get that product. The themes are nice but far too few for the price. The games are a gimmick since you have to pay to play the real things. The DJ is dumb and the dancers are cute but after a while boring.Hard to figure out how to use the music converter and photo stuff.Too bad could have been something but in its present form, not worth the money.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not worth the hassle
I purchased this software thinking that I could take my digital images, create a slide show with music, and then burn it to dvd for the family to watch.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for learning to play simple songs
I am an adult trying to learn Piano. This program is great for learning simple songs and does have a very good feedback system.
4-0 out of 5 stars Good instruction software, but has some minor bugs and doesn't fully replace a live teacher
I got this on request as a Christmas gift last year, along with an M-Audio KeyStation 61es keyboard. The combination of the two works really nicely on my PowerMac. I didn't really start going through the lessons until about a week ago due to shoulder surgery I had at the beginning of the year, but so far so good.

4-0 out of 5 stars A pretty good deal
I bought this based on the Amazon reviews.I am extremely new at this but the software is pretty good. The teacher is somewhat annoying and as another reviewer said, he sings over his playing way too much.I wish there was a way to turn him WAY down and the guitar up.It touts having over 160 lessons, but that is somewhat misleading.I don't doubt it has over 160 pages, but I covered 23 "lessons" in about an hour.I do like the fact that the first few lessons he teaches you very easy versions of the chords so you don't feel hung up on doing the full chords when your fingers don'twant to move to strange new positions they aren't used to.I am using this as well as Fender's DVD for acoustic with Keith Wyatt. The DVD is a little more challenging for me, but Keith Wyatt is much better than the guy from the eMedia software (and he doesn't feel the need to sing!!!).Overall, I would recommend this software.

5-0 out of 5 stars Listen to the Band!
Great deal, great price, great product. Emedia Guitar method is by far one of the greatest computer learn to play programs out there. My order netted me a brand new, factory fresh product, securely and quickly shipped. Thanks, again!

4-0 out of 5 stars Get Started Playing Fast
Well presented, easy to follow along, and easy to revisit previous lessons.Videos and illustrated fretboard really help see and hear how the song should be played. Not a lot of depth in the material but probably about the right level to maintain the attention of most students. Some of the accompanyment/singing could be better but overall does a good job presenting the music so the student can practice along. Some of the material/songs may not be to everyones liking, but again, these are okay for the beginner. The singing can be a slight destraction sometimes. I probably wouldn't recommend this to be the only source of learning guitar....and I don't think most people buying it would think it's all the will every need to become a great guitar player.I'm sure a teacher would still be very advantageous especially when it comes to pointing out bad habits that may creep into the new students technique. I'm trying to learn without a teacher as well and have found other music books very useful.

3-0 out of 5 stars Still not terribly user friendly
This is the second Finale product I have purchased. The first was the full-blown version of the music writing software.I found it too difficult to learn to be of much use.Now several years later I thought I'd try again.Finale has fantastic capabilities in terms of what a composer can create on paper, but, again, I have found it to be rather user unfriendly.Things like an ability to use your mouse to scroll down a printer page of music appear to be absent.Ability to change the size of your document on the page (analogous to a "font" tool) are likewise missing.Thankfully, I have previous experience of working through a few basic concepts of the software to assist me with this new product.
3-0 out of 5 stars Okay For The Money, But...
This is my first experience with notation software.Perhaps my expectations were a little high. Bottom line, the HyperScribe (Notate As You Play) feature is useless. There's no problem with my equipment e.g., computer, keyboard, or MIDI Interface. The software isn't capable of reproducing 'real time' play. Talk about "Lost in Translation!" Uploading data from floppy disk, CD, or a Flash Card is better, but far from acceptable. I've also tried to load music directly from the hard drive. Regardless the media used to interface with this program, your song won't come close to sounding the way you want. Get ready to spend countless hours editting your song. Even then, it won't reproduce audibly the way it's written. I'll take the hit for trying to make sheet music inexpensively, but SongWriter doesn't live up to the hype -- at all. It's fun to play with, but don't expect too much. Save your money & time. Incidentally, the problem isn't with the users. Between us, my wife & I have over ninety-years music experience.

4-0 out of 5 stars Best deal for the money.
Look, notation software is notoriously expensive. All musicians know that. So, when you see SongWriter and its price, it's a relief.Everything you need is in this program.I only have one complaint.

5-0 out of 5 stars Exactly as promised
Given all the negative reviews, I had to chime in.This software did exactly what it said, and what I wanted it to do...which was to allow me to transfer my music both to and from my ipod.Nothing more, nothing less.Granted, I'm not a computer whiz, but I actually have a job and wasn't able to spend any more than 30 minutes (to no avail) fiddling with free downloads or shareware before the $19.95 for 'tune transfer' was imminently worth very penny. If you can find something better / cheaper, then get it.That has no bearing on the performance of this software, which is just fine.

    Editorial Review

With its latest package, eMedia goes beyond the drills and tutorials of its earlier eMedia Guitar Method, instead targeting players who already have a familiarity with their instrument. Song-based and fully interactive, eMedia Intermediate Guitar Method covers a lot of ground in its single CD and thus just skims the surface of some topics. It also seems a bit lackluster when compared to Voyetra's exciting, rock and roll-inspired Teach Me Guitar Deluxe. Nevertheless, the program offers a barrage of mid-level and advanced chording, soloing, and picking techniques that should assist any student who seeks to become a more knowledgeable and skillful guitarist.Read more

    • Intervals, scales and the basics of improvisation are also covered in this comprehensive volume

5-0 out of 5 stars you will be able to play some great stuff
eMedia intermediate guitar method is an excellent system to expand on your beginner skills. I have now been playing guitar for four months and have gotten better than some of my friends that have been playing for over a year. I finished the CD so I am lending it out now to these same friends.
5-0 out of 5 stars awesome way to learn more advanced guitaring
After completing the first volume, I was nothing but impressed with the emedia material.I'd conquered campfire chords! Now is where the cool stuff starts, Volume 2, and it too is excellent. The great thing about Emedia's approach is how it breaks down the teaching of a new technique. After explaining and demoing the technique a short, usually interesting (but not always), song is presented that exactly covers that technique being taught. It avoids the pitfall of other guitar teaching material, which is use some ultra-mind-numbing, hardly melodic bit to practice the execution of the technique. The well paced introduction and progression of technique building really suits me well.My only concern is that I'm potentially developing bad habits, this is where a good teacher is a must. The chord and scale directories are great, but it would've been nice if the scale directory took better advantage of the guitar's range.I find I use the metronome quite often too.Good stuff!

    4-0 out of 5 stars Teacher-in-a-box
I wasn't sure how this would work out, but at the price, the eMedia Guitar method offered a lot more than the books and CD's or DVD's in the local music store.Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars this isnt the best ejay
this product runs the slowest out of all of them.I tried to run it on my laptop but it would just lag to much.so then I decided to run it on my newest computer, just got it in 2006 and it is designed for gaming but it was still to slow. The software is to advanced for what you are really here for.It focuses on to many things other than making music.Although it is a little more advanced than the other ones but the beatz are kinda soft. They could have made it a little harder. But over all i recamend hip hop ejay 5.Probably the most advanced but simplest to use and good sound quality out of all of them.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Looping Software
I've been using ejay hip hop software since version 1 and almost quit using it after all the bugs in hip hop 5. But it's all fixed in hip hop 6. There are some drawbacks, you really have to read the help files as they have overly complicated things in hip hop 6. They took away the ability to just use your mouse and drag to the sample down to a smaller size, instead you have to either open the clip editor and use the silence shortcuts on your keyboard or open up the "volume curve control" and draw out the undesired piece. This feature can be a benefit though, you can draw out pieces in the middle of a sample while keeping end pieces. The included samples are decent, and most of the other features work pretty nice too. I give it four stars for overcomplicating things, other than that, great software.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hip Hop Fun
This is my first time using this software. It allowed me to create my own music even if I wasn't planning on going big.I enjoyed mixing beats and sampling from CDs.It is a great product to have. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply Incredible, fantastic sofware for beginner and pro
Especially for the beginner, now you can have a rhythm section to back you up.You can change the key, follow the notes on screen, change tempo. And your accompaniment never tires, always is on the beat, and always in tune. This is extremely valuable for anyone learning jazz. This is probably the best single investment that a jazz student could make.

This is a great piece of software if you play any kind of a musical instrument or are a vocalist and want to practice playing songs with a virtual band. You just type in the chords, select a style and tempo and the software comes up with an arrangement in that style. Depending on which style you pick there will be different instruments in the arrangement. There are around 200 built in styles in various genres such as jazz, latin, country, pop etc. The arrangements are surprisingly good, especially if you can send the midi to an external keyboard. The software was very easy to install on Windows XP.

4-0 out of 5 stars My son loves it!!
I picked this up for my twelve year old son.He is a beginner and has been glued to his electric guitar and eMedia Rock Guitar Method for the last two weeks. The program is a great starter, just in case the kids don't stick with it. It's better than $45 bucks an hour once a week, for now, at least.
3-0 out of 5 stars It is ok
I found this product to just be ok.I wish for a e=media that i could use to slow down songs that I have not just what is on their program. All in all it is an ok program though.

I thought this was a great product. It's like having your own guitar instructor, but even better. You only have to pay once and you get hours of instructions you can use for as long as you want. Also, you can use it any time you want without having to make a trip.I'm pleased with my purchase. You will be too. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Not good, pathetic
Well the price reflects the quality of these loops. You will be getting the big bunch of primitive, annoying loops. Compared one to one with loops I'm getting from any major loops producer, Big Fish for an example, these are laughable, like beginner drummer's exercises. Yes, there're many of them, but they ended up been deleted from my drives completely to give a way to the real stuff. These may be Ok, if you make some 20 seconds intro for Final-Cut's movie, but as for music these are totally worthless. I'm not a drummer but even I can do better with pads. Go to web sites of any major loop producing companies and listen to the loops they produce and compare. I think it is better idea to buy five great bits for a song rather than load the drive with this bundle of garbage. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't like this product
eJay Sound collection is a very difficult program to use.
4-0 out of 5 stars Sound collection / sellection?
This whole software family is excellent and gives the user exactly what it offers.Quality recorded samples. My only problem is that this software house offers different samples from one collection called "sound sellection" and another collection called "sound collection".Depending on which set you use, you have to install two separate working version of the browsing software. It is not interchangeable as I have tried that. That is the only annoying problem with it.Besides that I love the samples and the software does work great regardless of which set you might be using at that particular time.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great packaging
Very professional packaging and nice layout.

3-0 out of 5 stars Powerful but Difficult to Learn
This application is capable of producing sheet music of publishable quality and playing it back, including named chords, but can be frustratingly difficult to learn. Little about it seems intuitive or works the way one would think: many of the operations require you to remember special keyboard-mouse combinations or perform unusual actions such as double-clicking and holding down the mouse button on the second click or selecting the same menu option twice. Unfortunately there is no searchable online help - only a PDF user manual with a table of contents and a 'How Do I' section. The manual does contain links to other sections but there is no index and no way to return to the table of contents easily. There is a searchable Windows help file included but it does not appear to contain much information. Having said that, once you have learned the basics and familiarized yourself with its many quirks, the program is quite powerful. It also allows you to create templates for particular instrument configurations and start from a template when beginning a new piece. I have not tried the scanning, MIDI or microphone-entry features. You should know that you must register the software with the vendor online or by phone within 30 days of installing it, and that the registration process requires you to furnish personal information about yourself such as your name and email or mailing address. In addition, the numeric key which is returned to you at the time of registration works only on the computer on which you installed the software. According to the manual, if you change any of the hardware on your computer the software may no longer work and you will have to repeat the registration process.
1-0 out of 5 stars Not nearly as good as the (much cheaper) competition.Avoid!
I saw this software in a Mac store and based upon the features listed on the box, I bought it. The limitations for this version of the software are extreme:you can't make your own chord diagrams, you can't score more than a few instruments and play it back (there's apparently a limit of MIDI channels allowed) - getting around both of these problems require the most expensive version of the product --- and the "upgrade" cost is $400! The manuals aren't particularly helpful, either.
