5-0 out of 5 stars Exactly as promised
Given all the negative reviews, I had to chime in.This software did exactly what it said, and what I wanted it to do...which was to allow me to transfer my music both to and from my ipod.Nothing more, nothing less.Granted, I'm not a computer whiz, but I actually have a job and wasn't able to spend any more than 30 minutes (to no avail) fiddling with free downloads or shareware before the $19.95 for 'tune transfer' was imminently worth very penny. If you can find something better / cheaper, then get it.That has no bearing on the performance of this software, which is just fine.

1-0 out of 5 stars The video editing software is absolute garbage
The video editing part of this software is completely useless. It didn't come with a manual and I ended up buying on my own a book about how to use it.It hasn't made a difference. The software is completely uncooperative. My computer more than meets the minimum requirements for running the program. If you bought this software for the video editing, I recommend using the disc as a drinks coaster and buying something else.

2-0 out of 5 stars Good features, but totally unstable
The features of the program are great, but it crashes WAY too much. My computer system is fully adequate for video editing, so that is not the problem. I've gotten to the point where I save my work literally every minute for fear that it will crash.

4-0 out of 5 stars Solid Media Authoring Program for the Price
I bought this product based on my research of users opinions and found it has lived up to their high opinions.I have boxes of family photos as well as numerous camcorder tapes of family events.I wanted an easy comprehensive program that would let me arrange photos and video clips, add music and burn on a DVD.This program does it all and more.It may not do everything extremely well, but for the price, well enough to put out an impressive DVD.After about two hours of getting familiar with the program, I was able to create a DVD that had 35 pictures and a video clip with background music - stunning results.I played the DVD on several different brands of DVD players and had no problems.Looks great on TV.I've had no problems running the program on my computer - I'm running this on a Pentium IV 2.9 GHz, 1 gig ram and 200 GB ram HD.Since I am a beginner/weekend hobbyist, this suites my purpose of sharing pictures with family - I'm finding much better to share on DVD than paper photos. For an all-in-one package at this price, it does the job very well and I would recommend it. ... The product wont upgrade and Roxio says my version is a counterfeit. This seller new this and ripped me off!!

1-0 out of 5 stars A Lot of Money for Relatively No Capability...
I spent $90 on this software. What a waste. The program will show you if you have a dual layer DVD in it, but it won't give you the option to do dual layer writing. What is that all about?Well, I used Nero 6 to do it and it worked fine.Nero kicks Roxio's behind and always has.--Signed Disgusted and Out $90.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best iPod software
I have tried many different types of iPod software, and Boom Box is the best of them all.The Audio Hijack and CD Spin Doctor portions of the software are worth the $50 each by themselves.

2-0 out of 5 stars 2.5 stars for 2 1/2 good apps. Cool, but Music Magic Mixer is disabled.
When I heard that Roxio was making this software suite, I was thrilled and the reviews were great. If you actually buy your music from iTunes, though, those songs won't show up in the mix. Music Magic Mixer won't read them because they're in proprietary formats. This app would be much cooler if Apple hadn't caved in to the music industry. If you find a workaround for the copy protection, you're set for a great app that rediscovers your music collection for you. But that's illegal.

Editorial Review

Beginning with the release of Windows 95, Microsoft has made a habit of augmenting each new operating system with an add-on package of assorted enhancements and goodies. The latest such supplement to come to market is Microsoft Plus! for Windows XP, a collection of graphic and audio utilities, rudimentary games, screen savers, and desktop themes specifically designed for users of Microsoft's latest and most robust OS. But whereas the Windows 95 and Windows 98 Plus! editions blended several genuinely useful applications such as disk management tools and virus checkers with the usual stable of multimedia tweaks, Plus! for Windows XP offers more fluff than substance. Although newbies will undoubtedly find much of the collection quite compelling, veteran users may not be so impressed.Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars What did I just pay for?
I don't get this, in Plus 98 you get a whole bunch of themes and other stuff - in Plus XP you get nothing - well you get a couple of thems!I cannot believe I paid for this - I uninstalled this and returned it for store credit - this is not worth $19.99 or $12.99 it is worth $1.99 - if you want some more themes for Windows XP look around on the internet for FREE ones and save your money!

5-0 out of 5 stars Terrific For Getting Your Old Records On Cds Or In Your iPod!
This is not the most current version of this software; but since it's probably still being sold new in places like eBay, I thought I'd still do a review. I bought this years ago to convert my records to CDs, but just ended up using it this year. I got a terrific Audio-Technica turntable for Christmas that plugs in easily to my PC.This is the software I'm using to convert the records. It is VERY easy to use, and has VERY easy instructions. The only one problem I had is that sometimes the hiss reduction feature will not be available if the software can't detect the spaces between the songs on an album, or if you are playing a 45. You then have to go back to the recording page, and record the blank area at the end of the record. And believe me, you don't want to leave out either the pop or hiss clean up! It's unbelievable how well they both clean up the record. (And I find this software far easier to use than the Nero that came with my Sony CD/DVD burner.)
5-0 out of 5 stars Great fun at a great value
Microsoft Plus! Digital Media Edition is not something necessary for the enjoyment of life, but, then, neither is a computer, a cell phone, or a TV, unless you are a diehard couch potato. What this collection of utilities does is add some fun to Windows XP, and it's stuff no other operating system enjoys.I personally use Photo Story and Analog Recorder often, because they are both easy to use and a blast to use, too.The games collection could have been better, but, hey, for a little over ten bucks, why complain? ... 1-0 out of 5 stars never again
I've owned several versions of MusicMatch and was very happy with the software, especially the library features.I'm currently using version 8 Deluxe which I expecially liked for the super-tagging capability.BUT every time I start it up these days, I'm informed BY POPUP that my deluxe features have expired and that I need to upgrade to the new version 10 (free) or purchase plus again ($20).There is actually another option of receiving all future Plus upgrades for an additional $40.Frankly, I've been quite happy with ver. 8 and was totally unaware that the Plus features expire -- until this happened.
1-0 out of 5 stars Yahoo unilaterally disabling paid for features
I'm in the same situation as Briface.I am a paid for Ver 8 customer and also subscribed to their radio service for a couple of years.I go to use my Super Tagging and it is blocked by a popup window telling me my super tagging "subscription" expired. What subscription?I never agreed to any subscription!I PAID for features and now they are unilaterally taking them away!!I can't even rename files from manually entered tag data. This uses none of Musicmatch's resources but is blocked by their stupid popup.
1-0 out of 5 stars MusicMatch
I agree with all the other reviews. The ONLY reson I bought Musicmatch was for super tagging feature. One came with my laptop. But I went out and bought 8.0 "deluxe" I thought it was deluxe! Now after a year all those features expire.I regret telling everyone how great Music Match was... I really don't know what you buy when you buy this software? 2-0 out of 5 stars Maybe you can, maybe you can't
This product doesn't do what it says it does.I bought it to record internet radio, the box says you can record anything that is playing in the output. It didn't work, I emailed magix and they said my sound card needs to have this feature. But if your sound card has this feature, you wouldn't need mp3 maker.1-0 out of 5 stars Doesn't do all that it says it does
I bought this program for one reason and one reason only:it was the only CD-burning program among the dozen or so I considered that claimed to be able to convert REAL files to .mp3s or .WAV files. After two hours at the computer and countless consultations of the manual, I re-checked the box to make sure I hadn't misread it.I hadn't - the box definitely lists REAL files among those the program can import and convert, and it also says it's compatible with all types of formats - but this clearly isn't really the case.2-0 out of 5 stars Great at first but errors later.....
when i baught it i was hoping it would organize all my mp3 files and it did but now it is giving me different types of errors and it isn't any better then my other mp3 software (jukebox 7.0) and i encourage you to think twice! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely garbage
I bought this program because I owned an old version of Magix Audio Cleaning Lab which for its time was great! This idiotic program won't even load properly and now that it is partially on my computer it has taken over control so that I get error messages when I try to run iTunes or even the Windows player.I have tried several methods (unsuccessfully) to uninstall it and have decided that to get rid of it I will have to reformat my hard drive.I have NEVER bought such a piece of trash in my life. And forget the company's customer service also - more like customer dis-service.

1-0 out of 5 stars Magix is really no magic at all
How can I perform all those features listed with this product when even the CDDB does not work.I install the program and nothing works right. The AudioID that's supposed to give me track info takes a long...long...time for each track. I feel like I wasted my money.I have older versions of MP3 makers and they worked better than this supposed updated one.Don't you test anything before you send it out for sale?I am extremely disappointed and this supposedly cool software is just going to sit and collect dust.

Aimed at the music enthusiast who needs a one-stop MP3 solution, Magix'sMP3 Maker provides a full set of features for creating and listening to MP3files, as well as for burning custom CDs that contain them. MP3 Maker rips toWAV and encodes effectively to MP3, MP2, and WMA. Its standard encoder producesgood-sounding audio, but encodes slowly, managing little better than real time.MP3 Maker also includes a 20-file trial version of QDesign's MP3 encoder, whichproduces higher-quality audio, and encodes more quickly. Serious users will wantto upgrade to the full QDesign encoder. A wizard registers you with CDDB, theCD-information database, so that MP3 Maker can tag MP3 files automatically. 1-0 out of 5 stars Sorriest program I have ever purchased
I bought this product at Best Buy, about 1.5 weeks ago, with the intention of converting some of the many tapes I have over to mp3's, and maybe burning some of them onto CD for safe keeping. Look at the box cover and this program can do everything but slice bread. I paid a little over $30, plus tax.
1-0 out of 5 stars What a waste of my money and time!
I could not believe the nerve of this company to market this piece of ripoff as ligimate software. After the real estate hogging installation, I was presented with a very impressive but confusing interface that attempted to be trendy and hi-tec. Instead of the friendly and comforting Windows interface (hey, at least give us the three familiar three little buttons on the upper right hand corner to minimize and close!?) I have to 'discover' the close button at the lower right hand corner of this blue-on-blue interface. 1-0 out of 5 stars Complete waste of money
I installed this program and it just sat there on my screen like a Windows .BMP file.Clicking on any of the controls did nothing, and it locked up my PC!I deleted the program and reinstalled it again.Same result.I contacted the manufacturer, but they were no help at all (left message, sent email, no response).I finally returned the software to Office Depot where I bought it.They gave me a hard time, because the shrinkwrap was gone, but after they tried installing it themselves, they agreed that the CD was best suited for a coaster and refunded my money.Would have rated it zero stars if Amazon let me. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Great player but too expensive
I've had the free version of Real Jukebox for over a year now. It is the best player I have ever used in my life. OpenMG jukebox has way too many flaws, musicmatch is cool looking, but complicated and it doesn't work too well either. Windows player is my 2nd favorite player, but now it is 80% corrupted on my PC. It freezes every time I load it now, and before it got destroyed, it still had a problem with playing tracks burned on my hard drive. If I clicked on two quickly, it pops up with a "cannot play multiple tracks" message and won't let me play anything until I restart the program. Winamp is a sad little silver player that is nothing but a bare-bones music player. Now Real Jukebox has none of those problems. I've burned over 700 tracks onto my hard drive with it, and not a single file is corrupted, doesn't play properly, or skip. I mess around with it a lot when I'm bored, dragging things around, clicking on 100's of songs, and download extra 3rd party skins and visualizations. Not once has it froze or not worked properly. I even copy songs from Kazaa and put it on my Real Jukebox, and it plays it perfectly. The only problem is that the full screen player looks boring. But who cares, if you want it to look cool, put it on skin mode. I've read some other reviews on the Plus player, and I recommend you don't get it. Especially for [$$]...

2-0 out of 5 stars Eh, not much difference between the free version
Yes you too can go out and pay thirty dollars for a piece of software that is dwarfed by competing software, and is available for free on the website of the company. So what does it do? You can record media from off of CDs, and organize MP3s and Real Audio files on your computer. So nothing really special. However, the software also comes with lots of sample songs to add to your music collection. Eh, thats all I can say, get the free version, if you like it pay thirty bucks for it then.

4-0 out of 5 stars MP3 Work Horse
I've been a user of Real Jukebox Plus since the 1.0 release. The 1.0 release was a decent piece of software, still a bit rough, but useful. With this new release, the Real Jukebox 2 Plus, Real has gotten things right and it is one useful piece of software. It might not be as fancy as some software out there, but it does everything I need it to do and it does it well.If you're using the free version of Real Jukebox there is one real reasons to upgrade to the Plus version and that is the VBR encoding. With the free version you can go to the Real site and get an upgrade to let you do encoding of MP3s to 320k, but the upgrade does not let you do VBR (Variable Bit Rate). The Plus version does and it does it well.If you haven't used either version here's what's good about the package:If you have a CD-RW drive you can select songs from out of your library and burn an audio CD for use in the car or what not (though you're limited to 2x burning with the free included Roxio plug-in, if you want to burn faster you have to pay Roxio $19.99 for the upgraded plug-in).Real Jukebox rips and encodes extremely fast (on my machine it does it as fast as my CD-RW drive can read the audio disk). There is a radio function that's nice. And the cross-referencing and sorting of your music library is great.I would recommend that you try the free version of Real Jukebox first, then if you like it and want to encoding your music with VBR (which does sound better at a lower cost of disk space) then upgrade and get the Plus version. ... I purchased this product to record and encode music from a large collection of LPs I have. The product is not the easiest to use, and it took me several hours of "messing around" to finally get a good process for recording, cleaning up and converting to mp3. I think the audio editor is not bad, but the controls for cleaning up hisses/pops/hums etc. that typically come from LPs is lacking. I also discovered that there is another product from this company called "audio cleaning lab" that contains the additional cleanup features I was looking for and does a much better job overall with the record-edit-convert to mp3 process than this product. Bottom line, for 30 bucks it isn't too bad and it gets the job done after spending some time with it. But if you are intending to record LPs to digital format and clean them up, I think the audio cleanup lab may be a better fit.

1-0 out of 5 stars This software should be free !
And even then I wouldn't recommend it.I found this software simple and unhelpful. There is no great organization capability and the program seems to waste a lot of disk space needlessly.I origianlly worked with Sonicstage (Sony) which I thought was great.Unfortunately Sonicstage copyright protects everything and it is therefore impossible to transfer music from one computer to the next.I bought mp3maker to solve this problem. It turned out to be a great irritation.

2-0 out of 5 stars TERRIBLE
The only thing to recommend this software is the somewhat intuitive interface.Otherwise, this is the worst ripper I have ever worked with.Almost every track I ripped, both on my laptop and home PC have beeps, pops and annoyances.Almost nothing is listenable.Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Average Ripper/Burner,Mediocre Features, Poor Interface
Pros: 1-0 out of 5 stars Not that great
I don't know if it's just me, but this program takes, what seems like eons, to read a song off a CD and convert it to an MP3.I'm running a P4, genuine Intel 2.0Ghz computer with 768MB of RAM and this program is taking a good 1-2 minutes per song (sometimes longer depending on the length) to fully convert it.I haven't done a lot of ripping in my lifetime, but I can swear that I've used other programs (like MS Mediaplayer) that took nowhere near as long as this one does to read a song and convert it.On top of that, this program demands like 100% of my CPU in the process of doing all this.Anytime I was ripping music, it was next to impossible to do anything else because this program was using all my CPU.In all, I don't like this program very much.

Never got it to burn a .wav disk.It ripped, slowly, and did burn a mp3 disk.It told me to contact Pyro and let them know about the error no.Read more

Data Becker's MP3 Wizard 2.0 provides a useful entry-level package for retrieving and managing music files for your MP3 player and CD burner. While it will take a little practice to learn all of the features here, this package gets the job done with a competent set of features for building a library of MP3 music effectively.Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Terrible
Not worth the CD-ROM it is printed on. Tried to edit MP3s with this program (cut portions from the end of files), and it made the entire file just one long, whiny sound. My advice: if you see this in a store - Run away. Buy something (anything) else.

1-0 out of 5 stars Basic software with a Major problem
I had used the earlier version of Mp3 Wizard which was riddled with problems (some were corrected with patches). However, 2.0 claimed to be such an upgrade from the last with the bugs all worked out.I am having the same problem as another customer, that is it will not let me fill up an 80 minute CD (as was advertised)and will continually give me error messages when I attempt to burn more than 16 or 17 songs.I have contacted the Mp3 Wizard tech support about this a few times and they have not yet offered any solutions to this problem nor have been the best at customer service.I am dissapointed in this product, especially since it was supposed to be a great improvement over the earlier version, which it is not!

2-0 out of 5 stars This program is really not worth the money.
This is a very clunky, very limited piece of software. It converts files to mp3's from pretty much any other format. But that's it.You can't edit your sound files. You can't turn mp3's into other file formats (except .wav - but you can get freeware programs that do that). The CD writing options are limited. The only good point is that the interface is spiffy-looking.Read more
