Very Powerful Wonderful Tool
I have used Adobe Premier and Final Cut with Macintosh computers and I am very impressed with VEGAS Platinum with HD. I don't have an HD camera so I can't comment on the HD features. I have the Canon GL2. The editing is powerful, and through using the s to seperate events and then delete the material that I don't want I am able to edit just as well as I edited in Adobe, and all the other unique and easy to use feature really make using this software a breeze. The thing that has really impressed me is how stable it is. I used adobe Premier with the same computer and really had a lot of slow downs and crashes. I give this product a big thumbs up, and the DVD software is simply amazing. I haven't used the full Vegas 7 but when I have the cash I am considering the jump.

Please get it
I started with Adobe Elements Photoshop 3 and Premier 1. This is my 2nd upgrad. My computer is 2 years old and I'm glad I bought Pentium 4 with a lot of RAM and hard drive. This upgrade is great. Major improvement from Elements 4&2. If you used Premier 2 extensively you will find that this upgrade will make your work much easier. An iprovement to axccess all menues, love the new time line (now it has two time lines were you can switch between them, the old one +the new one were you can go to each scene in a click. You can narrate directly to your timeline. I tried my USB mic, it did not work. I read a little and tried my old serial mic, it worked beautifuly. During narration, premier will add a new audio segment in the timeline. The best way is to turn off the sound and used headphone to hear your video and narrate during playback, otherwise you'll get an echo (you'll be recording your voice and the playback at the same time).
Initial Review of Premiere Elements 3.0
So far I am very impressed with this product. PE3 Installed without any problems. After struggling with Pinnacle Studio 9 for a long time, I have finally found a product to replace it!!! No crashes, very fast program.

From Pinnacle to Adobe Premiere Elements
I have been frustratingly using Pinnacle for years.I started with Pinnacle 7.0 and had problems with it locking up.When Pinnacle offered Pinnacle 9.0 with claims that all its problems were solved I bought it.It was as bad in fact worse than the 7.0.It had many features that were locked and could only be opened using a credit card.

Inferior encoding quality
I have used free ffmgeg4 for a while to get movies for my son on the road on Sony PSP. Purchased Popcorn 2 in hope it will provide more convenience with chapter/features selection.
Disappointing
I am at a loss to see the use for this program.I have used Toast 5 and 6 and found them both to be well thought out applications.Aside from compressing (and therefore reducing the quality of) video to fit on a 1 hour DVD (unnecessary if you have a dual layer burner) I can't see much you can do with Popcorn that you can't already do with iLife or Toast.It is very frustrating that the .mov, mpeg 4 and other such file formats can only be used when you are transferring to a portable.Dropping those file formats into the program when you want to burn a DVD produces an error message.Save your money for something useful.

I first purchased the lower cost version of this item and it caused my computer to immediatly go to the blue screen of death every time it was connected (my system just did not like that device for some reason).I brought the DVC100 back and exchanged it for the DVD170 hoping that the hardware encoding in that unit would eliminate the problems.
Creator Platinum works great!
Dazzle Creator Platinum is a first-class product, but it is important to know that it only works properly with a computer restart AFTER ALL SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE INSTALLATION.The software clearly requires a re-start, but there is no mention of it for the hardware.After installing the hardware (following installation of the software as instructed in the "getting started" pamphlet) I encountered the problems mentioned in many of the reviews, but after a final computer re-start the system worked perfectly.I recommend a computer re-start each time the hardware is connected. ... Premiere Pro 2.0
Whilst Adobe are touting a range of upgrades in 2.0 the only one I needed was the mulicam facility. Now editing any shot with multiple cameras (up to 4) recording simiultaneously is fantastic. If you previously used a Panasonic MX12 or AVE5 (or similar) then this is a total joy. Selecting the live camera is as easy as pressing 1 to 4 and after you've made your camera selections you can easily go back and move the edit points etc.

Works Great
I actually have a MovieBox Deluxe 8.0, that I've had about 3 years or so. It worked perfectly. Captures from digital cable and all but the very worst VHS tapes wonderfully. (One day I'll have to fork over the cash for a timebase corrector.)
Lots Of Potential But Ultimately Too Flaky
My system is a 3.2GHz P4 with 1GB RAM and an 80GB hard drive. First time I used it I couldn't capture audio along with video. Upgraded from 9.0 to 9.4.3 which fixed audio problem but I was losing capture after 16 frames. Found patch for just this problem and applied it. In capture settings could not find description of VCR check box option and this cost me an hour trying to figure out why it wouldn't capture.
3+ GHz computer preferred, but 1.86 acceptable
I got this to transfer my VHS tapes to DVD format before VHS players were no longer sold. The problem is that video recording is computationally intense. You will get jerky video if you overload the processor.

To Know A Truth & Not Reveal It Is Deception
I would not advise anyone to use this software. Before buying MEP 11, I tried to get a hold of their support people and ask if it was compatible with Win2K WHICH IS STILL SUPPORTED BY MICROSOFT. I could not get an answer.
No customer support
I would NOT buy this product at all.They have no product support that will efficiently help you.I have left 6 messages over the last week to 3 different locations and have not gotten a return phone call.I have written 3 emails to seperate people and have not gotten a return email.If you will require product support this is not the product to buy.

Studio software is awesome!!!
I have had nothing short of an excellent experience with this product. I have created numerous videos of my children's escapades and sporting events. I do have one warning however. Provide the grandparents with a box of tissues because they never fail to cry when they see their little angels parading across the widescreen. The software is extremely intuitive and easy to use. My wildest expectations were exceeded.

The worst program I've eve used
Crashes on every thing I try to do. I've never seen such a poor excuse for a program. I paid 70 dollars for it and am now throwing it in the TRASH.

Go with a different product - Version 9 worked, this version doesn't
I used Version 8 and 9 and NEVER experienced a problem.Version 10.latest version is terrible.Crash and burn.Don't take their advice and re-install your operating system.Its THEIR software and not the OS.Amazon and Pinnacle (Avid) continue to sell this product even though its terrible.I read it was re-written for version 10 and they CAN'T get it right.Nonetheless, they still charge full price and for support calls. The upgrade should have been free.

Don't see the problem here.
I've been using Encore since its first release. I don't know why many people complain about bugs and files corrupted. I've never had any problems in 3 years using this software. This is no Windows movie maker or iDVD. This is a serious prefessional software. If you want to learn it you should be comitted to research book like Adobe's Classroom in a Book or any other kind of tutorial book. I use this software at a professional level. I send DVD masters for mass reproduction every month and Encore has never failed me. I just upgraded to HDV and it handles it well too. I used to use Ulead DVD and as soon as I got Encore my whole production changed.

DON'T BUY! This piece of software is full of bugs and inexplicable system errors. I have never been able to complete any project. Every time, my project gets corrupted for no reason and then need to be rebuilt from scratch. The video editing software is absolute garbage
The video editing part of this software is completely useless.It didn't come with a manual and I ended up buying on my own a book about how to use it.It hasn't made a difference.The software is completely uncooperative.My computer more than meets the minimum requirements for running the program.If you bought this software for the video editing, I recommend using the disc as a drinks coaster and buying something else.

Good features, but totally unstable
The features of the program are great, but it crashes WAY too much. My computer system is fully adequate for video editing, so that is not the problem. I've gotten to the point where I save my work literally every minute for fear that it will crash.

Solid Media Authoring Program for the Price
I bought this product based on my research of users opinions and found it has lived up to their high opinions.I have boxes of family photos as well as numerous camcorder tapes of family events.I wanted an easy comprehensive program that would let me arrange photos and video clips, add music and burn on a DVD.This program does it all and more.It may not do everything extremely well, but for the price, well enough to put out an impressive DVD.After about two hours of getting familiar with the program, I was able to create a DVD that had 35 pictures and a video clip with background music - stunning results.I played the DVD on several different brands of DVD players and had no problems.Looks great on TV.I've had no problems running the program on my computer - I'm running this on a Pentium IV 2.9 GHz, 1 gig ram and 200 GB ram HD.Since I am a beginner/weekend hobbyist, this suites my purpose of sharing pictures with family - I'm finding much better to share on DVD than paper photos.For an all-in-one package at this price, it does the job very well and I would recommend it. ... Don't count on EncoreDVD
All the applications in the suite are fantastic with one exception: EncoreDVD. This piece of software is full of bugs and inexplicable system errors. I have never been able to complete one project. Every time, my project gets corrupted for no reason and then need to be rebuilt from scratch. If you don't believe me, please visit the Adobe User Forum and read through all the messages from users crying for help with program and system errors. If you plan on authoring DVDs, you will probably have to do like me: buy another application such as DVDit.

Even if it's free it's too expensive
This would be the worst software purchase you would ever make.As far as I'm concerned it's bait and switch.The bait is a software program, the switch is a bunch of code that crashes and can't perform basic functions without locking up.I'm running a fast dual core system with 4 gig of ram.It made no difference the software was slow and crashed at every turn.
Poor Customer Service From Pinnacle
I purchased Studio 9 before then decided I'd upgrade to Version 10.After nearly completing my first production, I realized one of my transitions folders was missing (one that I had intended to use).I contacted Pinnacle Support, it is like they don't read what I am saying.I sent screen shots as well, but they continued to tell me the same thing over and over again.Telling me what to do to make the transitions work.I am pretty computer savvy, so this is not OE (operator error). After numerous emails I contacted their live chat support, where they tell me that some transitions I had in 9 will not work in 10.Funny that the other emails were telling me how to make it work and nothing about them not working.I feel like I downgraded, I spent $90 for a downgrade to something that doesn't have the same things that my previous version has.I would suggest you do not purchase this, much less anything from Pinnacle, unless you know 100% that you will never need to talk to their customer service for anything.

This program is junk. Pure and simple. It has many nice features. The trouble is they all crash your PC. I am a programmer myself and would be ashamed to release software that is this unstable - and charge for it! Too bad, it's a nice interface that is quite user friendly. Resulting MPEGs work only with Pinnacle
The capturing from VHS worked fine. Pinnacle 9 creates MPEG files from your captures. However, the DVD creation options are -horrible-. After the captures were done, I had several MPEG files that Pinnacle had created. I sold Pinnacle (and uninstalled the software), and then bought a separate DVD authoring tool with which to create DVDs from Pinnacle's MPEG files. To my horror and then I discovered that no other tool can edit the MPEGs. Windows Media Player can -play- the MPEGs, but nothing can edit them. Not Windows Movie Maker, not Adobe Premiere Elements, not Sonic MyDVD, and not Muvee. So, I had to buy Pinnacle's software all over again, just so I could convert their (secretly encoded?) MPEGs into a format that other tools could understand: WMV.
Dishonest company
Do not buy anything from Pinnacle. Their software deceptively leads you to believe that you need to purchase further programs to burn DVDs. I did so and got incorrect activation codes twice before requesting a refund which they have refused to give even though the product does not work and meets their advertised return policy. I have filed a formal complaint with the Federal Trade Commission for deceptive trade policies and knowingly offering defective products.

HDV Capture Should Not Be on the Feature List
I own an HDV camcorder.I want to edit in HDV and I've used Premiere Pro 1.5 to do it, however the two-step import process (including a potentially lossy conversion) frustrated me.
Premiere 2.0 continues the steps into the Real world of editing
I dont know what the rest of you all are talking about - but this is a great product. Ive been with Premiere since version 5.0 - and 1.5 was the Big leap to real editing - and 2.0 is a fantastic continuation of that improvement. I think alot of hte people complaining about the jerky/unstable situations probably dont have a newish computer to match the advanced features of 2.0. Im running this on a P4 2.8ghz, 1.5gig ram, fast harddrive system wtih XPSP2, and it runs AWESOME - it totally keeps up with everythign i throw at it. Im sure if i had a Dualcore it would even be quicker. Im impressed with how fast the exporting to AVI files are and its only crashed on me maybe ONCE since ive been using it (over 3 monthes). MAJOR upgrades are multi-cam editing, HDV capability, Flash movie export, direct dvd creation (though i havnt used that yet) and adobe clip notes which is a Huge timesaver. Also the interface is Much better in my opinion, just takes a little while to get used to. I just completed a major, high pressure edit job and P2.0 kept up with me all the way - and even surprised me with features i didnt know it had. Main advise, be sure you have a Decent system and be willing to learn abit of a different interface, it doesnt take long to learn the differences, and eventually (at least for me) they end up being better. I think the $199 upgrade from 1.5 is a Very fair price, and if i had to buy the whole $800 version, and didnt Have any editing software id do it in a flash.

I upgraded from Premiere 6.5 and it was woth every penny.I can not say enough good things about Premiere Pro 2.0.The quality of the DVD's it produces is of much higher quality than Premiere 6.5 and Pro 2.0 is very easy to work with.The scene detection option during capture was worth the upgrade in itself.DVD menu's are easy to create and produce outstanding professional results.

Great Product
I am using Toast 6 for Mac to convert my vinyl to digital format. After trying other products, I bought this for the CD Spin Doctor program. It is easy to use and the editing features work very well. Discus 3.0.4 upgrade Label/Jewel Case Software is Tops
I own Toast 6 with two upgrades. (6.0.5) Using OS X 3.4 I needed a software update for my LaCie Burner. A must for any Mac owner!

Good For Basic Home Movies
This is a pretty good product for BASIC home video. However, in most cases Windows Movie Maker 2.1 is the way to go. Ulead VideoStudio 8 lacks in creative titles, credits, and can only be used for reasonably short movies without rapidly slowing down the process. The only way it can be used over Windows Movie Maker is that VideoStudio 8 can be used with Windows Media Player, QuickTime, and Real Player while Windows Movie Maker only accepts Windows Media.

Out of Synch.
This product takes over the whole of the PC desktop and blocks access to any other program while it is running (which might be reasonable if the PC processor will only cope with one program at a time which is not the case with most up-to-date PC's)The authoring and burning program results in audio out of snych in every case with clips of any reasonable length, other than a few seconds.(A half-hour clip of captured video will, when authored or burnt result is audio so 'out' that it is unwatchable).This does not seem to be correctable.I would not recommend this product.
